Really looking forward to Operation Flashpoint 2, Mass Effect 2 and Borderlands. I guess I'm gonna have to say RE5 is my current GotY as I think it's the only game I've played that came out this year. Wait, id Peggle Deluxe come out this year?! IT WINS.

Holy crap I'm behind. I could have sworn it came out last Feb....hmm oh well. For now then I'll change it to Killzone 2 (I need to stop playing older games that I missed)

While I've really enjoyed Red Faction and Prototype I don't see either of them being GOTY material.

I've got really high hopes for Arkham Asylum and 99% of the world's population is looking forward to Blizzard's titles. Then there's Dragon Age Origins, Alpha Protocol, Bioshock 2. Way too many quality games on the horizon to be crowning the stuff we've gotten so far.

My possible candidates are InFamous, Prototype, Ghostbusters, BioShock 2, and a few others.

I would say Halo 3: ODST, but that is more of an expansion than a game so it doesn't count.

Games that come out in November on do not count in 2009 as they count towards the year after.

I like how people are getting psyched for coming attractions. I wouldn't put my chips on anything not already out, as any number of DELAYS could push said game into the nether regions of next year.

In my mind none of the games really deserve a GOTY, this year I have bought no games from 2009 so far, and I only intend to buy two, maybe three games in the near future.

Empire: Total War is my current choice for GOTY, although the rampant bugs are extremely frustrating. However, it looks like my GOTY candidate is coming out at the middle of this month: ArmA 2.

Operation Flashpoint 2
It's going to be a large-scale COD-style game, and probably not a military simulator of any sort, unlike the Bohemia Interactive projects, and especially ArmA 2.
I'm completely fine with that. The most sim-y I want my games to be are G.R.A.W. style games.

If only I could say Mass Effect 2... the ones you really want always come out a year later. I would also say CoDMW2, but it could buckle under the pressure. So I am going to say... Yeah, i'm still waiting!

The gaming year is not the same as a regular year. It is actually two different calenders.

Also, some of the GOTY awards that are given do not count games that come out in November or December. Those games transfer to the year AFTER because it is too late to count those games in into the line due to them so late into the pool.

Usually the awards for game of the year is given around October. That is why some games.

How can you give an award to a game that comes out AFTER the main awards are given?

It is not a matter of what month it is in the gaming calender s different.

I'll say that so far... damn. It's a hard choice. inFamous is sticking out in my mind quite a bit, but I have a lot of games to play yet!

Sorry but you wrong.

L4D and Wrath of the Lich King came out in November and they got plenty of GoTY nominations.
