Pong.

Nah, I'm not that old.

E.T. for the Atari 2600 probably.

I still have my copy in the hopes the future will present a satisfyingly creative enough way to destroy it.

My first game was "Dungeons & Dragons." It used things like dice, books, and paper.

I understand some of these computer-based games are starting to approximate some of what you could do in D&D. Good for them!

Pong... No serious Pong was my first game i ever played because my parents had the atari console at home, and I'm 20 btw so it was well past its time of release!
But other then that i don't remember the names of most of the games i played between then and MDK on my first iMac G3 or something in the 1990's :S (apart from Descent, Mario Kart NES, Quake, Wolfenstien, DOOM!, and Duke Nukem)

Some of us have been with games since the beginning, some of us have just began playing, regardless we all started with a certain game.

I'm 15, and have been playing games since I was 4. My first game (I can't remember the title), was a game made in the early 90's. I played it on my dad's old Apple II. It took place in a castle, where you play a character that has to solve a series of questions, to get around the castle. The questions ranged from sports to politics. I was very young, and I barely knew any of the answers, so I just spent my time clicking on random choices (A, B, C, D). Even so, I enjoyed it. If only I could remember the title, I want to start playing again..
Im 16, and I too remember playing that game at a very early age!

The first game i played was worms, the first one. Then worms 2 and Quake 2.
But that was when my family could still afford an up to date PC.
The first console game i really played alot, was small soldiers (that thing that was a movie same year) it wasn't very good, but was a shooter and i loved shooters.
From there on my console craze started, i haven't played a lot of pc games since, because my lack of hardware issue, except for half life and starcraft, later on warcraft 3, but all of them was long after they had become sort of old games.

My very first game was Super Marioland 2 on the Gameboy.
I think that must have been in 1993 when I must have been 6-7 years old.
Took me ages to beat it at that age, seriously, I faced the game-over screen twice before I defeated my first Goomba.

I think I remember that game, but i can't remember what it was called, I was very young when I played it.
I can't remember my first game but I remember a few from my early childhood.

Hover, where you played as some sort of floating car thing and tried to get all the flags before your opponents did.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the first FPS I played I think.

Oh and who can't forget the joys of Lego Island? Sure on reflection I realise it sucks but still I loved it when I was younger.

First it was Tetris on a word processor. Then it was Donkey Kong Country and Mortal Kombat for my sweet SNES.

I'm 20, and my first game was oldschool M.U.L.E. on the Commadore 64. Hats off to anyone who remembers that system/game.
Then I moved to Populus and Warlords on a 286. I was maybe... 3 or 4? I don't think I ever won, but I loved making huge castles in Populus and drowning people. Foreshadowing my Rollar Coaster Tycoon addiction? who knows.
My first platformer was Commander Keen on a 486.
My favourite platformer was a DuckTales adventure game....
First FPS was Wolfenstein3D. Yep. I still maintain that it owns Doom.

Oh games, so many obscure games with such fond memories.

I'm 18, been gaming since I was 2 or 3.
The first game I can remember playing was the original Maniac Mansion.
There was also this weird game that involved picking an animal from one of 3 animal kingdoms, and going through different environments eating all the animals smaller than you and and avoiding all the ones larger than you. It was called Nature Quest I think, but I forget (no it was not EVO: Search for Eden).

I believe you're talking about Mindmaze, on Encarta Encyclopedia up until the 2007 edition.
