Probably Super Mario 64 (my 1st game I played) when trying to get 100 coins in Tick Tock Clock...I can't remember if I raged or not but probably did.

I rage at TF2 a lot today but that's for lolz

I believe the first was the MW2 Campaign on the hardest difficulty but there have be others, Super fucking Meat Boy and Halo: Reach on Legendary alone for a achievement where both hell bent on keeping it goodies away from me.

EDIT: holy shit I forgot I owned consoles before my Xbox so I believe that make my first one some Daffy Duck game where I couldn't get past the one jump, that or Darkwing Duck I think.

It's amusing reading all of these comments. I can't remember any levels which annoyed me to no end so there was either one or it was too horrific to remember.

EDIT:Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword. I remember some bad stuff...

Lemmings. Partially because some of the puzzles were devious, but mainly because I could never get my mother and my sister off my master system and let me have a go. They were so addicted to that game. With good reason.

Many years ago, playing an Alex Kidd game on a friend's console. There was this one jump that required extremely precise timing. I could never make it.

I've never really raged at a game but if anything a level in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006
Playing as Silver I got stuck for a few days trying to solve a single level. It ended up using a game mechanic that hadn't been explained by the game and I worked it out via chance. I hate playing as Silver anyway, it's awkward and badly designed.

I like the game but that level was ridiculously annoying.

Oh another one is a level of the PS2 game 'Dr Muto'. I remember one level when I had to jump several gaps in a net I was hanging from. The timing was iffy due to me having to jump off the edge that makes you swing. I tried that level a good 30 times. I still haven't completed the entire game, but I will beat it as soon as I get my PS2 up and running.

First time I ever remember raging hard was Perfect Dark on the N64. Some of the stealth levels were far too demanding for my mind at the time.

Homeworld. By far the hardest game I've played, especially given the lack of any difficulty settings. I still have nightmares about taking apart the Ion Frigate sphere, one at a time with cloaked salvage corvettes...
You're doing it wrong

I took the bad boy apart production line style - a cloaked fighter squad appears, 5/6 ion frigates took off in pursuit....at a certain point a dozen or so salvage corvettes pounce and drag to a nearby carrier

Makes the asteroid mission that follows far too easy

....Me, terror from the deep

The difficulty settings making very easy god damn impossible IN ERROR unknown to me level 0 the baby level was actually superhuman god like level....and even if you battled through and say forgot to capture a live...think it was deep one...game over man, game over

That was at the tender age of about 13 if that....and I guess just not being able to do the penultimate mission of privateer for about 13 years - I came back when older and wiser and smoked that one....

I think it was Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction, a 2001 PS2 game. I'd built a good robot with titanium armour etc., and suddenly my robot dies on the very first hit. And while playing on one level on the top of a Japanese skyscraper the house robots wigged out, and suddenly dogpiled me.

There are also random events such as battery failure, which can happen even in brand new batteries. If you dare purchase some armour that's a kilo too heavy, you get a minute-long lecture about how to reduce weight. She cannot be skipped, muted, or turned off. You must listen, because obviously you don't have a clue what you are doing.

Also had a tendency to crash a lot. But evidently, I was once much more patient than I am now. Or maybe I just liked the show a lot.

That would probably have to be Donkey Kong Country 2.

Trying to find all 40 DK coins was just awful (and this was before Gamefaqs, mind you)

And those bramble levels....ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

Street Fighter 2. Almost every single godforsaken fighting game since then has been a big pile of controller-breaking RAGEQUIT!!!!!!!! To me at least. (and yes I'll fully admit i suck at it but it still frustrates me to death)

Probotector on NES

Because you needed to do fingeracrobatics just to dodge the trazillion of one-shot=life lost bullets. And if you managed to jump and dodge bullets, you inevatibly landed on a bad guy. And died.
