They ARE planning a HAWX 2 and it is done by the same people and coming out not too far into the future (heard of it but forgot the release year). I guess if one was to get very skilled at the cockpit view of flying games one after another, the Assistance-off mode would just throw them off a little.

I loved it not only because it made dodging missiles that much easier (too easily imo) but, also the stalling. Yes, I do stall my plane for not much reason (though stalling has saved my life quite alot of times from the quick push-up you get when resuming flying speed).
Reading about HAWX 2 now, they claims it introduce some of unconventional gameplay to the genre. Here's hoping!

And in HAWX 2, you can apparently fly an AC-130 [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/81/AC-130_Training.jpg].

I may end up on one of these IRL, so this is a big deal for me.
Wow, good job on that. Closest I'll ever get to an ac-130 experience is with COD where the people in there are just talking calmly while they are causing death and destruction below on poor little insurgents. Oh and I watched the A-team this morning, was pretty fun and they do make a COD reference in it (well done too).

I came across this game whilst browsing through my local gamestore. There IS a game called AC-130 (really sure its called that) and it just revolves around piloting an ac-130 (that is all you do). I did not get it but, it was a really old game.

Btw, if you dont mind answering, how you going to end up piloting one? As in, what are you currently working as (obviously in the army, im presuming). On a related note, I am joining the army (singapore one) in under 2 months (about 6 weeks). And no, I have no chance of being a pilot (not exactly enthusiastic about it)

Alright, back on topic: I just hope they retain the good and listened to the criticism they recieved from HAWX and make the 2nd one better. Imo, they should keep Asst. off rather than experiment with a new way to create another version of Asst off and potentially make a bad one. However, I am trusting that they will pull it off.

This conversation has made me grab my other laptop and fire up the old HAWX. Time to dominate :)

Not piloting; that would be a few years on down the road, if ever. AC-130's are manned by about a dozen or so people, and two of the enlisted jobs are the electronics ops apprentice and the aerial gunner, and both of these jobs are at the top of my list, since I'm seeking a job on a flight crew for the experience- and the extra pay. Not only that, but aerial gunners are trained as loadmasters, too, and that's an in-demand, high-paying job in itself, both in the military and in the civilian sector.

As for HAWX 2, I didn't see anything in the press releases about Asst. OFF one way or another. It would be my guess that either it isn't being changed or it's not being changed so much as tweaked a little bit; if they were going to revamp the system that served as the first game's main mechanical draw (aside from the utterly useless ERS system), that would probably rate a little bit of attention in their teaser list of new and improved features.

I could probably pick up HAWX fairly cheap, but unless you get some sort of big bonus in the sequel for it, I think I'll just wait 'til Fall for the sequel- at which time I'll probably be in technical school for whatever job I'm assigned, so I probably won't have much time to play!

Armored Core

All of them until Nexus (at which point the series started to become way too gimmicky for Vs to be fun).

I'm also excellent at strategy games of all sorts.

Oh, good I would not mind a slightly tweaked Asst Off as long as it stays pretty much the same. Out of the dozen in the crew of the ac-130, there isnt a job called the commentator is there?

And related to the thread, is there anybody here that is really skilled at piloting air vehicles in games such as battlefield? I find piloting them to be 1 minute long kamikaze runs smack into the objective, especially for Rush mode in Bad company 2 (I cant pilot them for crap). So is there anybody here that specializes in being a pilot for these battelfield fps games (because you would be part of an elite group).

Well, I guess I had some level of skill in MW2. It was the only game i played for almost a year. I loved FFA. That was the place where I shined most. Dominated, even. Even got some skill in quickscoping.

I kick some serious ass at Total War games (especially Medieval II). I just love being a general!

Also HoMM games, I do love a good bit of turn-based strategy too. And I'm pretty good at CoD:WaW out of any shooters. Give me an M1 Carbine and stopping power and I can happily PWN N00BS for hours.

Europa Universalis 3.

Its unfortunate though that domination in that game eventually gets boring. You can only conquer the world so many times before it gets stale. Even so, lately I have taken to playing as France and making Europe my playground. Its kinda fun to cause trouble and be the big 500 lb ogre running around telling everyone else what to do.
