It can block and cut a cow in half, what more do you want?

I choose a zweihander, In my country (Holland) we have a hero named Pier Gerlofs Donia or aka Grutte pier wich stands for big worm and well his name was pier. he was 2 meters 15 long and could hold two zweihander (swords wich are so big you need two hands to hold him) one in both hand. Both swords were as long as himself and there weight was 6.6 kilo grams. I choos the zweihander because i'm about 15 centimeters shorter as him and im pretty strong too i can lift 60 kilograms with one hand. So who is ready to fight? BRING IT ON!

Uh, a longsword/spear (depends on their armor) and a shield(depending on my weapon)

I choose an axe. It has a sharp edge so it can cut but can also cause large amounts of blunt force trauma.

A classic arming sword and shield combination would work well enough, I think. Then again, a longsword would give me more reach, if at the expense of the extra protection the shield would give me. And I've always liked Halberds. Nice versatile weapons, those.

Despite what you see in movies and video games dodging is rarely a viable strategy, unless you are stepping back outside of range, which makes that little knife/katana/etc you are holding useless. Armor and shields became the norm for a reason. Against an unknown opponent in an unknown area, I would say do as the Romans do. Spear, shield, sword and armored chest piece.

Buckler on my left arm and shot sword/rapier type in my right hand.

Possibly even have a slightly larger shield on my left arm, just in case.

Zweihander and Full Plate Armor. Neither are as heavy as everyone thinks they are.

Hmm..a careful choice.

I'm torn between a two-handed scimitar and a set of the daisho. The former is well balanced and heavy, carrying the versatility of a sword and the cutting weight of an axe. The latter is generally held to be exceptionally sharp and, with proper training, can be used both independently or as a set (dual-wield).

Given the myths about dual-wielding, I'd probably stick with the scimitar.

I am disappointed.
All the answers here... yet I bring to the field the ultimate.
Crush anything before me...

I would use a Jō staff ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo_(weapon) ) for it's versatility. In combat, you can use sword, spear and long staff techniques all mixed up, can cause some serious confusion in opponents! On top of that, hardened wood like white oak is a lot harder to cut with a sword than you would think. I've seen my sensei block (not parry, actually block) a katana strike with a quality Jō.

I also don't think I'd be comfortable with a sharp weapon, the idea of slicing through (or into) a human being doesn't sit too well, bashing his brains in seems easier on the stomach somehow.

Good slashing, wacking, and stabbing abilities, and the advantage of distance.
And a shield, if I can have one.

Well, what does the other person have?
Could be anything, let's just say both your choices remain unknown to your opponent until you meet on the field of honour.

Ah. Then a spear, as well as a buckler and mace of some variety. Possibly a short sword. I would trip if I tried to run anyway, So I might as well be prepared.
