Scottish Claymore

It's long, powerful, and relative to weapons and armor heavy enough to crush and slice through flesh and steel, but in weight terms it's only about five pounds tops, so I can use it quickly in a one on one fight, since I don't have to tire myself on multiple foes. It's also a fearsome weapon.

You are challenged to a one-on-one, freeform duel! Weapon choice has been limited to melee arms, but you can pick any type:blade, blunt, polearm or flailing; what would be the weapon of your choice and why?

For those that wish to look into them a bit more, here are lists of types of swords, daggers, polearms and staves, axes, clubs and flailing weapons.

My choice would go to the old European arming sword.
It's double straight edge, crossguard and manageable size make it a versatile weapon.
It may not be as light or sharp as a katana, but the cutting edge won't chip as easily under improper use and maintaining and repairing the sword is a lot easier.
Also, it's designed as a one-handed sword.
Pro: I'll have a hand free to grapple/hinder my opponent or carry a buckler/parrying dagger.
Con: making a two-handed swing or parry will be incredibly awkward.

EDIT corrected terminology.
I'd go for a glaive. i freaking love glaives.

Spear + Shield = Retards using Daggers die because they have no thing but a dagger to defend themselves with.

A lightsaber!

But if it actually had to be real, I'd choose a bastard sword. Not too heavy, and packs a powerful punch. I can adjust my fighting style to whatever the other guy has. If he has a 2hander, I can use my sword like a claymore. If anything else, I can hold it in one hand, and if he's using a dagger, I can grab his hand or something and then lop off his head.

normally I would reach for my Musashi Katana BUT this is a multinational audience so I'm gonna have to go with my ash wood American Baseball bat.
