We've seen the zombie apocalypse threads, a few robot apocalypse threads, but my search into the forums has shown me that there is not a giant arthropod apocalypse thread.

So, how would you prepare for/react to a giant insect/arachnid apocalypse, assuming one could happen, and what would you most/least like to run into?

I'd run into spiders because I hate them so much, or a giant ant because of irony. A giant ant that takes a piece of plastic and melts it, so I have to dodge globs of molten plastic. Agh!

Really, I'd make an epic journey to the RAID factory, wherever that may be. That should be a movie, come to think of it. Five strangers, joined by fate, rush to the bug spray warehouse to save humanity and repel the giant man-eating freaks!

Move north. Most bugs don't do well in cold, while humans are perfectly capable of adapting to it.

I'd join the giant arthropods because they're my favorite fictional characters.
Tyranids, Zerg, monsters from Dead Space...

Send in waves of Krogan?
Lunge at the queens and shatter their exoskeletons?
Air drop giant cans of raid?
Giant roach motels?
Satelite lasers?
We send Mr. T after them?
Let them be crushed under the weight of their giant exoskeletons because exoskeletons do that when they reach a certain weight?
Any of these would work.

Exactly how big we talkin, a bug the size of a great dane or a 747.

In any case I would like to run into.... well actualy i wouldnt like to run into any giant bug. However if i had to choose one i would say a pillbug since they dont eat meat and i could tame it to carry me around on its back, eventualy finding an abandoned millitary warehouse and using the supplies inside of it to install miniguns and missile launchers onto my bug of doom. I would then procede to make an empire using insects as my mounts of doom.

I would not want to run into a giant mosqito, i like my blood inside my body. Also, no wasps those things are crazy and mean.

Amen to that. Fleeing North is pretty much my plan for every type of apocalypse. Except for maybe the impending snowman or Eskimo ones.

Unleash a army of mindless zombies to devour the giant Insects, and we'll be safe in our brand new space stations while letting them fight to the death...

It would be a bit like this.

I would wake up in be next to a giant prey mantis. He would chase me around the room, and I would try to fight it off a little bit with a stick, but it won't work out well. The floor would collapse around me, and I would sink into the dirt. I would wake up in some sort of green sack, watching others being slammed about on a giant bug queen (wink wink nudge nudge). They would soon die after the event, and the queen would be laying eggs full of human bug hybrids. I would be pulled out of the sack, and be pulled to the queen. I would remember I had a stick, and stab the queen when I get real near her. I would fall, and get chased by fighting ants. Suddenly the army would come in, and take me out of the ground and into a helicopter.
