Why is it that when most people get sad about this, it gets me angry?
Those "parents" need to be put away for the rest of their lives.
They should never see daylight again.

Wow, just...wow. Wow for how neglected that child was, and wow for how she's being helped and nurtured for. This story makes me both lose, as well as gain new, hope in humanity.

Man. That's really sad. I was really surprised at how selfless the Lierow son was. So mature for such a young man.

My, aren't you just the sweetest troll I've ever met.
Seriously, do any of you even know what a fucking troll is?
The question is, do you know what a troll is?

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

Hmmm...all the proper qualities. You're a troll.

seriously if i was the cop i would of lost it.

i would of opened the door to her closet, seen her, closed the door back, grabbed her mom and boyfriend and shot them. right there and then, continued to determine the level of maturity/intellect/normal behavior her 2 brothers have and decided if to consider them guilty for not saving her, or in need of saving.

Oh, for the love of God on His ivory throne...

I can't even make myself read the article now. You guys have given me enough of an idea to make me want to vomit already and I'd rather not have to clean my keyboard again. Just from descriptions and reactions, this is terrible. I'll ignore it so I don't become even more pessimistic. Stupid world...

Jesus Christ, people like that woman should be shot or at least sterilized, so they never have the chance to do these kind of things to an innocent child. If there is a Hell I hope she rots in it. As for the girl, I do hope she gets better and it's good to hear that she has someone taking care of her.

Why is it that when I read an article about the stupidity of humanity I feel the urge to either destroy the human race or remove myself from it by way of the knife I keep in my room?

Meh, the article said she couldn't feel pain and was completely feral so she had no idea that her situation was crap. It's much sadder for someone to experience life then have it ripped from them.

It's been said before, but people with an IQ of 77 should not be allowed to reproduce.

I realise this infringes on basic human rights, and I'm fundamentally against it, of course. But historically our governments haven't let little things like 'rights' stand in the way of imposing the will of the majority.

Personally, I'm glad I didn't read all of it from looking at the comments, but it is shocking what some people can do. The mother is terrible at being one and a house riddled with faeces, maggots and cockroaches? How terrible was the mother's quality of life for that to not be a serious issue when you have a child as well to think of?

Least it has a happy ending though...

The part that made me the maddest was that the woman had the gall to say she 'missed' her daughter. Ugh.
And she only got community service? Unbelievable.

Something's rotten in Denmark. She said she had gone to uni.

The way I see things, the mother had her share of bad luck and seriously fucked up. Period. It's a tragedy anyway you slice it, and having harsher measures won't make it better for anyone.

What I get from this is that I'm actually very interested in seeing how Danielle progresses. Sure, she may never be a normal person but something's something, right?

This is a work of fiction, sirs.
This man speaks the truth. The whole thing is an elaborate ploy to get more foster carers and charity donors. Hence those links are placed right there, just after you've finished reading and you're feeling awfully sympathetic and generous.

Actually, yes - the fact that she has a new, loving family is uplifting because it's the perfect example of the other end of the spectrum - yes, human beings can do terrible things, but they can do wonderful things too.
I think her adoptive mum said she's looking forward to see her get married/go to college/move out or something? I can't help but hope so too.

Depressing? Not the word for the whole story.

The start was definitely depressing, as was the mothers story, but the main piece about the girl "growing up" was pretty umm... amamzing. To think she changed from what she was to what she is now.

Wow, and that's like twenty minutes away from where I live. Craaazy stuff... Really makes you think when it's this nearby, kinda like being hit with reality.
