Neo is correct. I'm looking for your average university student, but I don't want everyone to be the same in terms of looks, personality, general interests, that sort of thing.
Ok, then would a personality edit be sufficient, not drasitcally changing the character, but to make his traits clearer? Because my intent wasn't to make Richard a stiff that would only give gruff replies to anyone/anything, but rather a person who is in a precarious spot, not wanting to ruin his reputation after having it soiled somewhere else.

Or, should I just make a new character to replace him?

That's entirely your call. Your character is worthy of consideration as it is, but if you want to change things or start afresh I won't stop you.

Wait, now this confuses me, you say here that you're looking for mostly "normal" people, yet you say that you're looking for a variety of people in your RP notes section. Subjective perspectives aside, I'm getting mixed signals.
I think what he means is people who would realistically be found attending a university class, rather than say 35 year old undercover cops, or people with lineage or backstories that would be considered outlandish and would not lend themselves properly to the situation at hand.
Neo is correct. I'm looking for your average university student, but I don't want everyone to be the same in terms of looks, personality, general interests, that sort of thing.
Sounds fair. If I continue to see male characters submitted I'll go ahead and submit my idea for a female character and let you decide which you'd think would fit the story best.

Oh, well now I just feel silly, as that's what I thought I was fighting for. I'll leave the sheet as is then, case already made and all that jazz. If you excuse me I'll just slink away and silently stare intently at the thread.

Name: Adam Chambers
Age: 21
Sex: Male

Appearance: Adam is about average height. He is naturally fair but his skin is often very tanned from spending so much time outside in the sun. He has pale brown hair and blue eyes. He has a healthy build thanks to his frequent jogs and the martial arts class he signed up to in his teens. He wears an old blue hoody and sweatpants to lectures but he has some form fitting shirts (most of them plaid) and some good jeans for when he goes out. If he needs to go to a formal event he still has one suit worthy of being called his "Sunday Best"

Personality: Adam (or just Ad as he prefers to be called) isn't what most people would call lacking in confidence. In fact most people would probably call him a loud mouth. He's more than happy to dive into a debate on any subject no matter how little he may know about the subject. Give him half the chance and Adam will step up to almost any kind of confrontation, be it an argument or a fight. Although one sure way to rile him up is to show him someone being bullied. This bizarre need to defend others has earned him a few friends, a few enemies and plenty of bruises throughout his young life. Which makes it even more of a shock to those who know him when they see how he shrinks away when around his family.

Biography: Adam is a Silverhollow boy, born and raised. He grew up in one of the more rural areas of Lake Alabaster, the eldest of three. His parents were (and still are) devoutly religious. Every Sunday was spent in church and Sunday school. This was where Adam was taught right from wrong according to the the scriptures. As a child he saw the world in black and white. Bad was bad and good was good. Perhaps this was what inspired him to want to become a police officer.

As Adam grew older he never lost track of his dream. He made sure to stay in shape, to study hard and to always treat others with respect. Everything a good citizen and a good christian should do. But part of that changed halfway through his time at Harrier's Run High School. All the other boys his age had started noticing their female classmates and were trying to get girlfriends but Adam never really felt the need, he never got it, none of the girls in his class were ever that interesting to him. Why would he want to spend all day with them? Now Lee Drumond, captain of the swim team, there was someone he could spend whole day with!

It was around this time that Adam started to think he might be a little... different.

The rest of his school life was dreary at best. Ad kept his head down and threw himself into his studies and extracurricular activities, anything that would take his mind off these thoughts. School life was tough for kids like that and what's more it was sinful of him to think such things. No, he didn't want to be treated like one of them, he wasn't one of them. He kept telling himself it was just a phase, that he just hadn't met the right girl yet.

Come graduation Adam was one of the top students in his year, one of the benefits of channeling all his frustration into his school work. He applied to Goldmar University and majored in Criminal psychology, Adam's dream of becoming a police officer had changed as well; now he wanted to be a detective. Adam may not have had the funds to move away for his education but he did have enough to afford student accommodation. He wanted to move out and face the world on his own, even if he was just living in a dorm room.

Although he hadn't traveled far to get to his University he met students from far and wide with countless opinions and ways of life that he had never considered in his sheltered upbringing. It was in this new world that Adam was really able to come out of his shell, to think about what he wanted rather than what others wanted from him. He discovered his confidence again, made new friends, he even attended a few meetings of the University LGBT club. He's yet to reconcile his sexuality with his religion but he's not as conflicted as he once was and that's something.

He's carved out a nice life for himself at Goldmar and a fresh sense of self and purpose. Now he just has to come out to his family.

Notes: Adam doesn't have a car or bike so he walks pretty much everywhere, only getting the bus when he has to. (He hates public transport)

He is a regular at The Festival

Adam has a blue belt in aikido from an after school club he joined in his early teens.

Here's my character, let me know if anything needs changing.

Starting to see a trend here...
Name: Sabrina Zhao
Age: 18
Sex: Female

Appearance: Sabrina is beautiful, of Asian descent, with pale skin and lustrous black hair.

Personality: Independent and calculating. She respected the authority of her parents, but exhibited no respect or deference towards any other authority figure. While able to present the image of a kind and bright schoolgirl, more intimate contact revealed a ruthless and arrogant personality, motivated primarily by self-interest. She is discerning and manipulative, cruel and domineering.

Biography: An only child of wealthy immigrants. From a very young age she was conditioned to intense academic study. She excelled in her schooling and graduated from secondary school at the age of 14. By all accounts the young woman was a model student at the university, a favorite amongst the staff, and took up the sport of fencing. By virtue of being a hot girl, she recieves endless attention from males and is pleasured at the ease in which she takes advantage of them.

Notes
-were she to attain superpowers, it would be seen as confirmation of her belief that she is above "regular" people.

Female character! Let me know which you want me to play!

Name: Noel Brandt
Age: 21
Sex: Female

Appearance: Noel is of average height with fare skin, big green eyes and shoulder-length amber hair which curl up on the ends. She isn't the most fashionable young woman and prefers functionality above all else. She usually wears a track jacket with a tank top or t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. She'll wear a one-piece dress if she feels like being fancy and owns a number of suits for formal functions.

Personality: Noel derives joy from the happiness of others. The more she can do to help out the better she feels. While she is incredibly sociable and helpful she is somewhat closed off to others. Her ambitions and convictions make it hard for her to trust others with her emotions. Essentially she'll listen to your problems and help you out, but remain a complete mystery herself.

If she can't solve your problem and you continue to suffer... she'll feel helpless. Her biggest plight is that of others.

Biography: Noel's mother died when she was ten-years-old and she was forced to help her father raise her little sister. She developed to have a very strong sense of responsibility and became a bit of a daddy's girl. Being a hard-hitting politician and the current state senator of Silverhollow's district, her father instilled in her the mind of an ambitious civil servant and has helped pave the path for her future career in politics. Though she has yet to tell her father, she's actually grown more interested in diplomacy than domestic politics.

During High School she headed the debate team at her school, was the class president and volunteered at every church in her neighborhood. She had a full plate and upon entering college it didn't get any smaller. Now in her Junior year she's in a number of political and cultural clubs, writes guest columns for the school paper, is a member of the student government and volunteers at the local animal shelter. She'll sleep when she's dead.

Notes: Noel is a woman of vision, a brilliant futurist and extremely motivated. The recent appearance of super powered people has both excited and terrified her. As she learns more about them she gets more and more ideas for the future.

Oh man, this is both awesome and scary for me at the same time. As soon as I read a handful of the OP, I immediately had the idea for a Ted Bundy meets Sylar-esque antagonist/protagonist with the ability for him to split his arms up General Grievous-style, and masquerades with the main heroes while secretly killing people in the background. Then I read the rest of the OP, learned that powers are random, and then came to the sudden realization that no rational GM would let me play that role, instead delegating it to an NPC.

Anyway, if I have any other ideas that are rational and sane I'll post again. Let me know if NotTedBundy is possible, though, as I'm really interested in that.

Name: Dwayne Isaac Zavattoni (Nickname: Diz)

Age: 21

Sex: Male

Appearance: Diz is African American, 6?1 with black hair and green eyes. He has been keeping in shape so he can make the University Track team and one of his hobbies is Parkour, so he has toned muscles and weighs 194 pounds. He has long dreadlocks that he keeps in a loose bun like this [http://www.wwe.com/f/styles/superstar_bio/public/talent/bio/2012/01/kofi-kingston-bio.png]. His left ear is pierced three times: One stud in the ear-lobe, and two small rings on the outer curve. He has a faded scar on his neck from a mugging gone bad several years ago.

Clothing: Diz likes to wear T-shirts under his signature leather jacket [ http://leather-shop-blog-store.biz/wp-content/themes/shopperpress/thumbs/Replica-X-Men-Wolverine-distressed-dark-brown-leather-motorcycle-jacket-front-2-www.leather-shop.co_1.jpg]. He also likes cargo pants, and green/black sneakers without socks [ https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSWFDB9typZr5AIGC0rXWcLIkLFESZc5b3bOTMkIAa6mjmnL51RKg].

Personality: Diz grew up in Brightfields, so he grew up speaking with a ?gangsta? inflection that he hasn?t quite gotten rid of, and that gives some people the wrong first impression. He is actually a very easy-going and lighthearted guy. He is very passionate about sports, because he wants to be a professional athlete; not just for money or fame, but because he wants to inspire other people. He likes to keep things lighthearted, but thanks to the environment he grew up in, he knows that sometimes things go bad and nothing can change it.

Biography: Dwayne was born the son of Nicolo Zavattoni (an immigrant from Italy), and Tiara La-Roy, a native of Brightfields Silverhollow. He had a younger brother named Antonio, and they relied on each other to stay out of trouble while growing up among the gangs. While in high school, Dwayne got the nickname Diz, which are his initials, because his real name is such a mouthful. He and his brother both went out for high school sports and made a name for themselves in track and field. It was during his sophomore year that Diz got interested in Parkour thanks to his dad?s stories of the people who did it in Europe.

That same year, Diz and his brother were walking back from school when they were held up by three gang members. He didn?t have time to find out which gang they belonged too before they put a knife to his neck and pointed a gun at his brother. Antonio was handing over his backpack peacefully when a stray cat jumped out of a dumpster and startled the muggers. Antonio was shot twice in the chest, and Diz got the scar on his neck. Diz held his brother while he died. The day of Antonio?s funeral, Diz decided he would have to live well and make his brother proud.

The police thought they would get an arrest from his testimony, but when he told them the truth (that he didn?t know who killed his brother) they thought he was protecting the gang members. They treated him terribly and accused him of working with the killers. This resulted in him losing his faith in police. He managed to make it through high school with a remarkable athletic record. He wanted to get away from Silverhollow, and several collages were offering him scholarships and other ?incentives? to come and compete for them. In the end, he went with Goldmar University so he could stay close to his parents. He is using his athletic scholarship to pay for school, and he gave the money offered to him by the university to his parents so they could move out of their old neighborhood and into Glassgate where they live now.

Last year, his first year at the school, he was getting used to living in a safe environment for the first time, and finally learned to be truly happy for the first time since his brother was killed. Now, his second year at G.U. he is planning to live a normal life for once and truly enjoy life in collage.

Notes: Diz visits his parents on the weekends, and took the university to nationals for track and field last year.

I figured a super outgoing person would be cool, even if he is a bit of a jerk.

Name: Erasmo Baxter.
Age: 19
Sex: Male

Appearance: Aside from his ridiculous looking white suit jacket, wears a red undershirt and white pants. He is six feet tall and has short spiky white hair. His eyes are a piercing blue and his face has no marks or scratches on it. He speaks in a meandering tone that often sounds very bored by most things. He also wears black cloth gloves in order to keep his hands clean when walking around. They are black because white stains too much. He wears white boots with black bottoms for the same reason as the gloves, he can't afford to have dirt stains.

Personality: Let's get this out of the way, Erasmo is a jerk. He belittles and makes fun of others all day but because of his status he is almost never touched. He has a heightened sense of self importance and thinks that he is the most important member of any group. He has never actually done anything important in his life however, at most taking credit for the work of others. Erasmo is crass, rude and overall not fun to be around if he takes a disliking to you.

Biography: Erasmo was born to a rich family in Texas, though he did not live there long as they quicky moved to Silverhollow for business reasons. He has lived in Stonefalcon as long as he can remember and was known as "The Rich Kid" through his school days.

Around the time of High School, he had gained an inordinate amount of influence and had even managed to get himself voted most likely to succeed despite cheating his way through school. He is bad at intimidation and prefers to simply buy people off, it's surprising what a little bit of money can get people to do. Erasmo was accepted into Goldengate by buying his way in just as with everything else and is quickly going into business.

Notes: Erasmo will not react well to receiving superpowers, especially not poison. He isn't a total ass if he can respect you, but the chances of that happening are slim unless you save him from something.

This looks rad as hell! Let's see if I can get in.

<spoiler=Character Bio>
Name: Zachary J. Stenson

Age: 20

Sex: Male

Appearance: Caucasian, 6 feet tall. Hair dyed blonde, but naturally a brunette. Hazel eyes. Sort of an average build, not really outstanding in any way. Lacking significant muscle, but without much in the way of fat either. Almost always wearing a hoodie and jeans with a t-shirt underneath. While the hoodies don?t often have much branding on them, the shirts are most often related to some interest of his, like bands, games, books, or tv-shows. The jeans are usually just blue jeans. Hasn?t brought much in the way of formal wear. His skin is usual a bit more pale, as he spends a lot of his time inside or prefers to go out at night.

Personality: The epitome of youth: stupid, reckless, and sexually charged, Zack prefers to hit on girls or goof off than study. He also likes to be the center of attention, and is willing to go to some lengths to do so. He doesn?t like to talk about his own feelings, or feelings in general, and prefers to live in the heat of the moment than dwell on past mistakes or an unknown future.

Biography: Zack?s family lived on the edge of Brightfield, near Lake Alabaster, and the boy was strongly encouraged to go and spend most of his time over there instead. However, as he got older, he couldn?t help but begin to get caught up in the numerous gangs in Brightfield, particularly the Burning Brands. He went so far as to join them, and taking the mark himself. Suddenly, his parents came into some money and moved away from Silverhollow, taking their unwilling teenage son with them. From then on, his life felt bland and unspectacular. Once he got out of high school, he didn't immediately go on to higher leaning but instead fooled around for a while, doing nothing with his life. His parents demanded he go to college if he wanted any more of their money, and so he took the opportunity to call up an old friend and become his roommate at Goldmar University, where he has yet to declare a major. His parents warned him to stay away from Brightfield, and so far hasn't gone there, but the itch has been rising since he entered the city. Zack is a freshman at Goldmar, but already his reputation as a class clown has begun to spread.

Notes: -No job. No interest and no need. Though he doesn?t like to talk about it, he always has money.
-No car or bike, but he?s been thinking of trying to buy a motorcycle.
-Assuming I get in, I already know who the ?old friend/roommate? is going to be, but I don?t want to tie up that person?s backstory if I don?t get accepted.
-He?s extremely jealous of the super powered individuals sprouting up on the news, and often dreams of getting such powers himself

Ah, it seems really short in comparison to yours. If you need me to make it longer or anything, lemme know.

Name: Christine "Chris" Harper
Age: 23
Sex: Female

Appearance: Christine is of Caucasian origin, with a slightly tan skin and is at a height of 5'4". Her hair is wavy, dark red and reaches down to her lower back, usually kept in a ponytail when she needs it to be. Her eyes are bright green and fairly open most of the time when she's awake. She also has freckles on her face, not too much of them but there is a fair amount of them on her cheeks, nose and forehead. She sports an average build, not having a particularly big bust nor a lot of muscle or fat. She likes to wear bright clothes, which often means white, yellow or orange, with the occasional bright green or blue, and is usually never specific for each article of clothing, sometimes she even wears everything in the same color. As for her specific articles of clothing, she typically wears tank tops underneath a zipped sweater, and depending on the weather, she either wears shorts that reach half way down to her knees or jeans, along with either sneakers or sandals, again depending on the weather. She keeps a handbag on her shoulder to keep her sketchbook and pencil if inspiration hits her while not at home.

Personality: Christine can be best described as bubbly. She doesn't seem to have a care in the world, and takes delight in the small things in life, such as taking a simple walk, reading a good book or enjoying her favorite hobby, drawing and painting. She's by no means an idiot despite her bubbliness, but she's wouldn't consider herself smart. She's smart by average standards. She isn't easily provoked, and usually tries to find peaceful solutions if they can be found without violence. She isn't easily offended either, since not a lot gets to her. She likes to snap her fingers if she gets an idea, a habit she developed for no reason, really. Due to her particular fondness for drawing and painting, she likes to keep a sketchbook and a pencil with her at almost all times, occasionally painting what she's drawn there or painting something from her mind.

Biography: Christine was born and raised in Silverhollow, in the Stonefalcon district, not knowing a better place to be at than there after all her years there. She wouldn't say there's anything noteworthy about her, but other people might disagree. Whether they're right or not is another matter.

Christine's family isn't big, being just her, her father Tyler, her mother Susan and her twin sister and brother, Hannah and Victor, with Christine as their big sister by two years. Red hair was prominent in the family, although no freckles on anyone except Christine and her mother, and it seemed that Christine got her eyes from her father. Christine was raised to be a kind and loving girl, and no one could argue against that it had succeeded. She rarely, if ever, disobeyed her parents and always did her chores. She never really had any problems with anything, though some people did think she might be a little too friendly, which those people found off putting. But since not all people were like that, she managed to make good friends through her life.

Her kindergarten and elementary school days weren't filled with many noteworthy events, going by like normal for a kid her age. She did find that she liked drawing in elementary school, and wanted to continue doing so to improve her skills. She didn't do like some of the other kids did her age in high school and dated someone. She never really thought of something like that, and frankly, no one asked her out. She wasn't bothered by it, though. She figured they might just be shy towards her or someone else interested them more. Either way, she could spend more time improving her drawing skills, having found a delight in drawing either what came to mind or something she saw in real life.

Once she graduated from high school, she had the option to join the Goldmar University, and there seemed to be an art course there, so she decided to take it in order to learn even more about how to become a better artist. It was very interesting for her, because she had almost been certain she'd learned all there was about drawing, but she was delightfully wrong. She didn't actually have a lot of friends despite her friendly personality, but the few she had she was grateful for.

During her time at G.U. she met her first boyfriend at the age of 19, Jacob Summers, who was really sweet to her and treated her well, but he wasn't perfect and didn't really like it when Christine was drawing all the time, even when she explained that when inspiration strikes, you have to seize the moment or it'll be gone. He didn't really get it, but he was alright with it when she wasn't drawing, and even allowed her to draw him. That relationship lasted for about a year before Jacob broke up with her because, as he put it when he broke up with her, he hadn't been feeling it lately, like they could work better as friends than a couple. Christine didn't protest and just agreed. She did cry for a little while afterwards, but they became friends after it and she was glad to still have him around since she felt relaxed around him.

While still attending G.U., Christine found that she wanted to attempt to get a job to save up money for whatever she might possibly want in the future. She couldn't keep leeching off of her parents like she felt she was doing, even if they didn't feel like that, and she looked for a job at as many places as she could think of. Finally, she found a place that wanted to at least see what she was capable of in person rather than on paper, especially since she didn't really have a resume yet. The job involved her taking care of some kids after school for them was done while their parents were still at work. She wasn't the only one there, and after a while of working there, she rather liked it, so she continued to do so alongside university, since her classes didn't clash with her work.

So there are some things I really enjoy about the premise here, but wanted to ask a question or two if possible.

First, are there any particular distinguishing traits between the three gangs?

Second, is Goldmar University a university of anything in particular? Or does it pretty much allow for majoring in anything? Art, criminology, underwater basket weaving?

Damn, those are really good questions and I wish I'd asked so I could put more stuff in about the gangs on my character bio. Way to be smart.

Each of the three has certain characteristics to it:
- The Burning Brands, or the Brands for short, all possess the gang emblem somewhere on their skin, either as a tattoo or applied by a branding iron as an 'initiation ceremony'. Some of the Brands take the name literally, using homemade - and often unreliable - flamethrowers or flaming torches in fights.
- The Titans are the most violent of the three; they are often the ones starting a fight. They're into extortion rackets and "protection schemes", often shaking down businesses and residences for money. A fair few of the Titans are enormous bruisers who wade into a group of their rivals and start a fistfight.
- The Watchers will often use the lumbering brute strength of the Titans to their advantage. Some claim they have influenced members of the other two gangs to turn traitor, spying on the Watchers' enemies. The Watchers are the best-equipped of the three to last long in a firefight, simply by virtue of having stolen the best guns. The Watchers' gang colours are black, dark purple and silver.

It allows for pretty much anything, within reason.

Name: Kai-Huei "Kayla" Lin
Age: 21
Sex: Female

Appearance: Kayla is 4'11". She wishes she was a little taller at times, but her Taiwanese heritage sees fit that she be forced to the stepladders. Her black hair flows down to the small of her back and is kept tied in a ponytail at almost all times. Her deep brown eyes are framed by a pair of glasses with a thin black frame holding the lenses in place. Her skin is a deep tan, deepened by years under the California sun. There aren't many curves on her body, but she's never paid it any mind anyway. It's her brain that's the valuable organ.

Her outfit consists of a interchangable number of single-colored blouses covered by a trio of rotated zipper-up sweaters; white, green and blue. She always wears blue jeans and high sneakers, even in the supposedly balmy Michigan summers. It still doesn't compare to home. To remind her of it, she wears a silver chain adorned with a small peach spiral shell hanging from it.

Personality: Kayla is predictably focused on her studies. Schoolwork comes first. That is what her parents drilled into from an early age. That's remains true to this day, especially considering the current family dynamic. She is also relatively reserved. Back home, she had a rather large network of friends, mostly Asian descended. However, Michigan does not have a similar ratio, and she has felt isolated at Goldmar. As such, she does not speak to many people outside of class mandated interactions.

Biography: Kai-Huei was born in San Jose, California to Chang-Wen and Kai-Ting Lin. The Lins had moved from their native Taiwan a year earlier, as Chang-Wen accepted a promotion from Acer to move to Silicon Valley and oversee American production. Kai-Huei was the apple of her parents eye...for about two years. That was when she got a sibling, her younger brother Chang-Tsung. A traditional patriarchal Chinese family, Chang-Tsung was seen as the proper heir to the family, and despite her head start, Kai-Huei was now playing catch up on the younger competition.

As the kids neared school age, the family started to Americanize itself. Chang-Wen became Wendell, Kai-Ting changed to Tina, Kai-Huei adopted the name Kayla and Chang-Tsung was now Cameron. Kayla got off to a flying start in grade school establishing herself near the top of her class, which is hard to do in fingerpainting. However, even as she remained at the top of the class, Cameron proved he was ready to surpass her. As they progressed through the school system, Kayla kept receiving top marks, but not only was Cameron matching her, but he was achieving it in a quicker time. He was skipped ahead from Grade 1 to 2 and in high school, while Kayla spent time socializing with people and heading up a tutor group, Cameron kept right on the studies, completing more classes per term and graduating right along side his big sister. For Kayla, it was almost ridiculous, and the praise that he got at home made it even worse.

When it came time to apply for university, both Lins went for all the big schools in the States. Kayla was pinning her hopes on the fact she had enough extracurricular activities on the application to get her accepted into Harvard, but she still applied to a couple of safety schools just in case. On the day letters were sent out, the mailbox outside was bulging with packages. There were two packages from Cal-Berkeley, two from Stanford, two from Goldmar...but only one from Harvard. That Crimson pack had Cameron's name on it.

Kayla was crushed, her parents were ecstatic, Cameron just stood there beaming with that stupid smirk of his, as he put another one over on his older sister. Kayla couldn't understand it, but she did know one thing. If she stayed in California, she'd never hear the end of it from her parents on how well Cameron was doing in Harvard. So she took the out of state option and enrolled at Goldmar. Now in her final year of her undergraduate double major in Physics and English, she's preparing to move onto her Masters, while Cameron is doing likewise in Massachusetts. Kayla has been trying to get something on her brother to prove she has surpassed her brother in at least one aspect, but in her parents eyes, it's numbers that matter and Cameron's consistent 4.0 has proven hard to overcome at a perceived lesser university.

Notes: Kayla is a loose fan of the Oakland Athletics, but nothing fanatical. She lives in a one bedroom apartment about a block from the university, where she spends most of her free time studying and cooking.
