I could totally stretch my imagination and say, raping someone's corpse while robbing a bank so you can pay for your meth-lab that you make your own children work in.

Realistically, I think murder, the only thing you really have no chance to recuperate from.
What If you murder a murderer? and that murderer murdered your family?
For me there is a difference between killing and murdering. I don't see soldiers and police that kill someone as murderers, or a man defending his family either.

As for you question.... it all depends on the circumstance. If your talking about being in the moment, and watching my family be murdered right in front of me, then yes, I would kill him. If it was down the road and he was captured by the authorities and going through the legal system, no, I would let Due Process take it's course.
And if Due Process didn't take it's course? If that man, who you SAW kill your family, got off easy, you would do nothing? I'm just curious.

Rape would be my #1 sin. There is no justification of it.
Oh fuck no, if justice actually failed me, and I knew for a fact he was guilty, I would see him dead. Whether by my hand or anothers, I would try very hard. It's funny because I personally wouldn't see that as murder either, but that's just my own moral code, which is not always a mirror image of what society deems right.

Willful ignorance.
So much that is wrong in society today is simply due to people not using the head on their shoulders. While murder, rape and theft are terrible things, they ultimately occur on a personal level. The sorts of destruction that threaten society as a whole take a special kind of stupid. As the Dalai Lama said ?Where ignorance is our master, there is no possibility of real peace.?

Rape is often used as an act of empowerment, not for sexual pleasure. If you think about the amount of psychological damage that rape, and a lot of other things, can cause, it can be far worse than murder. If you murder some one, their life is over, but when you psychologically damage someone in a way that the rest of their life is lived in terror and have caused a lifetime of suffering, that is truly horrific. I think its about a million times worse if the victim is a child, people like that deserve to be eaten alive by ants. seriously.

To quote Yatzee
"Shagging the Emperor's wife and daughter at the same time while playing a rock guitar solo on the desecrated corpse of God." (Oblivion review)

In all seriousness, rape. Murder can be justified on rare occasions, rape cannot be justified ever.

I've often debated with myself in a back-and-forth between murder and rape, but that's inconclusive.

Really, it's hard to narrow it down. Not because the process of narrowing down horrible crimes is so difficult, but because bringing to mind all those crimes is painful.

I think, ultimately, I could only narrow it down to torture. Torture broadly defined as, like someone else posted, inflicting suffering for no reason or reasons of personal pleasure. True sadism, basically. This would include rape, inflicted pain, and - this keeps coming up in my head, every single time I think of it - withholding basic needs for fun. The concept of deliberately starving someone or something, in particular, fills me with despair.

Acting in a manner contrary to the further advancement of the human race. If you do anything, no matter how small or large, that is holding the rest of us back, you're a sinner. Everything from petty crimes that inconvenience someone who is working to improve the human condition to championing technologies that stifle innovation to the outright encouragement and promotion of ignorance.
Isn't that just defining the Greatest Sin as..."sin?"

I'm an atheist, so I don't believe sin can exist.
Sin is a violation of morality. You don't believe in morality?
He's trolling just leave him be.

OT: Actively trying to spread ignorance, fear, stupidity in order to keep religious control over people. A mans mind is his only true immutable possession. To defile it is the worst.

The sad thing is there are a lot of people in the world who commit the sins / crimes mentioned above, and yet they dont get punished... I get depressed just knowing that.

Rape, by doing so you leave the victim with a lifetime of psychological trauma and damage, and for what? To feel empowered, like you're a big man or something? I myself don't believe in morals, but murder at least removes the victim of their misery for good while rape leaves them with the pain for the rest of their life. Not only that, but murder actually has its purposes (don't look at me like I'm Max, wouldn't you kill Hitler if you had the chance?) whereas rape serves no function or possible gain for anybody.

Eat it while it's there whiny, besides we all know it's treachery. Or at least according to Dante anyhow.

I counter with the Iron Boot, because it undoubtedly has an psychological effect to the same degree, I don't see how it couldn't. Aside from that it leaves you with legs like bent pipecleaners, and hurts WAAAAAAY more.

Desiring someone else's stuff, being lazy and consensual pre-marital sex are setting the human race back somehow? They might not push it forward always, but at worst, they're sitting in neutral.
