You try taking on an AT-ST with nothing more than a lightsaber!
Love the fact you've played this masterpiece but really? Hardest game? I beat this when I was 10, it was difficult but in that rewarding kind of way. Also the level design was brilliant and... I better stop I'm getting nostalgic...

Hardest for me. Probably Demon's souls or DMC3 for standard difficulty.

If it's my own difficulty choice (so hardest settings), probs Godhand, Resi 4, God of War, Big boss runs in the MGS series and probs some others, it is hard mode afterall.

Well, I wouldn't say it is the hardest, but some of those platforming sections and Jerec were a *****.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I finally beat Guitar Hero 3 on expert
I got to raining blood and stopped. I decided it wasn't fun and I didn't like the song.

The devil is just incredibly frustrating, GJ though.

Silent Line Armored Core.

Definitely very challenging.
Oh yes. Fun game, but hard.

VVVVVV in No death mode

And somehow. I don't know how. I beat Megaman X1 when I was 4 years old. I am trying to do it again. I AM RIPPING MY HAIR OUT! I MUST have been on some crazy sugar high as a kid because i just can't do this.

Hmm... Hardest game I've beaten...

I beat Demon's Souls 2 weeks from buying it, and I rolled a thief and had like 20 points in luck by the end of it. It wasn't as hard as I was led to believe, but I did end up looking for a walkthrough or map for world 2-2, as I got lost in the tunnels way too much.

I beat Modern Warfare 2's campaign on Veteran, that took me a month.

I remember Yu-Gi-Oh: The Duelists of the Roses handing my ass to me when I was 10, but then after a couple of months I developed a deck that had monsters, easily summonable, that had 6000 attack points each. It was pretty easy from then on. I still hated the white rose campaign... God damn Yugi...

Also, Starcraft 2, and Red Alert 2's Allies campaign. Seriously, I hate some of these games, yet I know I'm going to buy Heart of the Swarm when it comes out! I hate blizzard, and I quit World of Warcraft, but seriously I don't know why I torture myself with Starcraft.

For tough games I haven't beaten yet, Final Fantasy VIII and Vagrant Story have annoyed me to no end! I also bought Crash Bandicoot from the once existant PSN store, having played it as a child and not having much trouble, only to realize I was one of the most persistent people to grace the earth when I was younger! I seriously don't know how I completed it.

Finally, the Thief series... I love the games, but I still haven't completed a single one, and I keep playing them near daily!

I beat Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels without using any warp zones, I also beat the second quest without warp zones. I spent my college days well...
Oh I've done that. That game is a *****! You don't want to use warp zones in that game 'cause if you're not careful you could wind up being warped back to World 1.

Hellgate: London.
I don't know if the game was ridiculously hard or if I was just crap at it, but if it hadn't taken after Diablo's boss system (i.e. when you die and respawn, the boss that brutally murdered you will have roughly the amount of hitpoints you left it with) I would probably never even have reached the final boss - which took me around 50 respawns by the way.

Devil May Cry 3 on Dante Must Die mode was probably the hardest for me.

The original DMC3, not that watered down easy re-release that came after it.
Damn, ninja.
Well, I guess the other hardest games were either the God of War games (all on hard) or the recent COD games (all on veteran)

I don't play that many hard games and I pretty much never play on the hardest difficulty setting... so I suppose Demon's Souls is the hardest game I've beaten.

The last boss was pretty easy with the damage nullifier spell though.

I'm tempted to say Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 on its 2nd difficulty level. All the Tracks were mirrored, you had to collect 8 silver coins throughout the race (which often sat in odd places you had to leave the track for), the other drivers were faster and more aggressive AND you had to come in 1st place. Also, the bosses were a real pain, especially Whizpig in the "secret" 5th world.

In recent memory i'd say Demon's Souls, although I'm not nearly 100% done with it. Oh, and I am still trying to beat Mega Man 9 (bought it in February I think). Never finished Burnout 3 either. I got to the Formula-1 Challenges there .. just too damn fast.

edit: Now that I read it, Devil May Cry 3 would be on the "beaten" list, too. That game was hard ..

Demon's Souls on New Game+++++, Guts Mode.
Dude I read the manual I got with my pre-order. The difficulty stops raising after New Game++ (second NG+), making it easier to take out once you've mastered NG++

That said-

I was only able to take down a single playthrough of the epic Demon's Souls, which is my crowning moment of badass! In regards to your victory however:

HOLY FUGNUTS!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! NG++ DEMOLISHED ME!! I bow to your badassery, PlasmaFrog. May your preferred sex of choice swoon over you, may all your enemies fall into their the puddle of blood pooling at your feet, and may your frogs always consist of plasma.

For those who don't know: Demon's Souls is this generation's Castlevania.

Halo: Combat Evolved on Legendary co-op with my brother. I was much younger and it was my first FPS and finally getting the Legendary ending was very satisfying.

Although Project Gotham Racing 2 was harder to get all of the normal medals, but no way I could get the Platinum.

Killzone 2 on Elite, Paltinuming Demon's Souls with no blue phantom help ( I did get someone to give me a few hard to get shards, but meh, mindlessly grinding doesn't require skill), CoD1/CoDC on veteran (wasn't too hard despite the fact you die in 2-3 hits and there's no health packs or recharging health), also Dead Space 2 on Hardcore, wasn't too hard, but it's one of the more recent ones. I haven't really started playing games on hard until the last few years with the introduction of trophies and achievements so the games are all newer.

Super Star Wars on the SNES.

What's worse is it took a few months before I could find a copy of Super Star Wars Empire Strikes Back to continue the series and when I started it I couldn't even make it off Hoth.

Mass Effect 2 Save Import Adept on Insanity Difficulty.

Also right now, Fallout New Vegas on hard with hardcore mode, playing melee/unarmed only. Which becomes rather increasingly easy once you get piercing strike and a ballistic fist, except when you try to kill Caesar early..5-6 Guys with Ballistic Fists against you..bwahaha..

Only winable by using Psycho, Turbo, Jet and a whole bunch of other Drugs, having super Stims handy and using Vats whenever possible. If that doesnt work, go inside, make them chase you, run out of tent, kill them when they get out of the tent :3
