The first time you leave Vault 101.
The cargo ship level in CoD4.
The ghillie suit level in CoD4.
Nearly every level in CoD4.

Leaving the vault in Fallout 3... Although it's not really a level.

I don't know why, but that one really got to me.

Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. It's iconic because it was the hardest motherfucking level on the N64.

My top 3 are:
1.) Bomb-omb Battlefield from Super Mario 64.
2.) the Temple of Time from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
3.) the actual Halo part of any Halo game.

Quackshot on Megadrive. The Duckberg level at the very beginning. Every time I think about it, the memories of fantastic gaming come flushing back. It sets the scene for the whole game. Oh, the first level of Streets of Rage 2 too. The awesome gaming had from SoR2 was a joy and an honour. :)

Totally agree with both points. However the level in Quackshot that comes to mind is the place where you have to fight the tiger. SoR2 had an excellent soundtrack, 'specially the first level.

Forest 1 in Phantasy Star Online

Metroid Prime 2's Sanctuary Fortress.
The first time I saw it I was literally aghast, it's effectively a neo-futuristic computer / city hybrid, but everything's made to have slightly organic characteristics. I remember scanning what looked like a load of scavanger ants on a wall, and as I got closer, it turned out that they were tiny, robotic microchips with legs, carryng little pockets of data to the sanctuary core. I thought the imagination that went into that level was utterly spectacular.

Finding out I was Revan in KOTOR, fantasic plot twist.
And as for Pychonauts who could forget stomping around a city of lungfish being called Gargalor.

TELL ME ABOUT IT! I spent literally a year stuck on that level, i combed through every walkthrough, every google page and every one said 'It's impossible to get ultimately stuck' which was such a kick in the face. Though i was about 10. It turned out all i had to do was swim just that lil bit lower than i had previously bothered into one of the water level changing rooms you first go into, lower the level and walk out -.-... i think i got so raged i haven't played it since lol

And as for most iconic level /w.e, the one that sticks out most in my mind has to be the undead dragon thing in ff10 when trying to infiltrate that big city (as you can tell haven't played it in ages), just the idea that you can pwn a boss by throwing phoenix downs at him is hilarious. Oh and all the ff7 bosses really :p

What? No one has said Surface Tension from the original Half Life? With all the Valve fans? Im amazed, that was epic.
