so the thought pattern is "I don't trust you unless we've met face to face, but we can't meet face to face until I trust you"?Mcupobob said:I get what you're saying but you may want to clear it up a little and get rid of the "dudes" and "likes".
Ot: People are just very untrusting. Especially to people they haven't meet face to face.
Yeah, remember high school drama between friends? (you will enjoy lots of that in college too) People like getting worked up.PrinceoN said:DOH! root of the problem right there. im only 20, and most of the time ive spent on internet forums/games/such has been through my teenage years, possibly/probably surrounded by other teenagers.
but the people ive seen that buy into the "omg he's a sexual predator?" gossip from just one comment are usually the same people that are just as...internetophobic?...as the person who originally says it, so i guess its just the common ground shared between the poster and the believer.
I live in America, and I'm probably talking to other Americans the majority of the time (I don't post on here as much, so don't start saying "IM CANADIAN!" or something people), so with that said..common sense?strum4h said:More abuse happens in the home than it does over or through the internet. I am having a hard time understanding what you just said.PrinceoN said:I live in America, and I'm probably talking to other Americans the majority of the time (I don't post on here as much, so don't start saying "IM CANADIAN!" or something people), so with that said..common sense?strum4h said:More abuse happens in the home than it does over or through the internet. to sum it up, i was basically saying that America =/= common sense. especially with parents and their childrenstrum4h said:I am having a hard time understanding what you just said.PrinceoN said:I live in America, and I'm probably talking to other Americans the majority of the time (I don't post on here as much, so don't start saying "IM CANADIAN!" or something people), so with that said..common sense?strum4h said:More abuse happens in the home than it does over or through the internet. Ah. That is a pretty terrible stereotype however. I know plenty of fantastic parents. It is just the ignorant parents that do not want to get informed and are 100% sure they are right about everything.PrinceoN said:to sum it up, i was basically saying that America =/= common sense. especially with parents and their childrenstrum4h said:I am having a hard time understanding what you just said.PrinceoN said:I live in America, and I'm probably talking to other Americans the majority of the time (I don't post on here as much, so don't start saying "IM CANADIAN!" or something people), so with that said..common sense?strum4h said:More abuse happens in the home than it does over or through the internet. I met someone from online once. We were smart and did meet in a very public place (where I knew there would be officers if need be). She turned out to be a pretty kewl person overall.Celtic_Kerr said:There are a ton of predators out there, and some of them spend months and months talking to people to gain their trust. Sure, people are paranoid, but if nothing else say "Look, I swear I'm not a predator. We'll meet in a very public place, we won't go anywhere sketchy" and hope they believe you
I've got many online friends, many in other countries. I've cammed with them often enough that I'm sure I have the right person. Plus I've spoken on the phone with them. Considering the voice matches on their video call and the phone, so it works. I'm secure enoug htnat I'd meet them. I might be suspicious the first time or two, but I'd meet themNiceGurl_14 said:I met someone from online once.
