Some guys on the internet set up a Indiegogo page, asking for $600,000 to buy an island and name it "Equestria" after the world of My Little Pony Friendship is magic.

I'm a brony, but I don't see how this could work, or why anyone sane should give their money to these people.

This is stupid, and won't go anywhere. Even if the majority opinion was that it was a good idea, which it isn't because of the aforementioned stupidity and motionlessness, $600,000 probably wouldn't get raised. The Bronycon documentary got about half that, and that one actually had Q himself directly involved.

Even if both those things happened, which they won't, the money will either be ran off with because it's a scam (don't actually think this is likely, idiots are more common than this level of dick) or it'll just not achieve anything. Maybe a patch of sand will be bought, big enough to write "Equestria" on with stones at low tide.

Considering the monumental stupidity people on the internet, and human nature in general, are capable of, I'm betting that this thing will at LEAST make 100-200 dollars, at most 500. Perhaps I'm just being modest and it'll make way more than that.
