Ok so, basically what happens is this: Nuclear war. Bam. Everything is dead. No more digital stuff, no more plastic, no more paper. But the survivors are bored. They need board game.

What game will they play? You can make one up, or suggest an existing one. But keep in mine that:

1. It's the apocalypse, so plastics, and fair dice and not available, along with specialized pieces.

2. Tic Tac Toe does not count. The game must be strategically complex.

3. The game should be easy to play, and have simple rules.

Since DnD clearly violates rule 3 I think I'll go for Risk. Nice to play and there is some strategy involved.

Chess, neither easy nor simple, but people will find a way to play it, I promise you.
This, and it can be easy or simple, it depends entirely on who's playing, and therefore is infinitely replayable

I second this

Chess, because garden gnomes and alcohol bottles will survive, so they will be used for the pieces.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

Totally simplistic, hilarious, requires no books, paper, boards, or pieces, and is infinitely replayable.

Also, it's got about a million ways to make it into a drinking game, which just adds to the fun.

If it is the apocalypse then something nightmarish and degrading like larping would probably be the last game.

Uhm, Nine Men's Morris. It's a well proven low tech game.

I agree with this. Risk is a fantastic game. The rules are simple and you can use pretty much anything for pieces.
