Persona 3

_________________________________________

Overall excellent game, great story, compelling characters, fun and intuitive turn-based battle system. The persona system is also very deep. However, despite some palette swaps, the layout of the main dungeon remains the same and can get rather monotonous. Some trash enemies also have 1-hit kill attacks early on. These issues can be easily overlooked for the great story and battles.

Dragon's Dogma

Addictive fantasy RPG with a heavy focus on combat flow, (A.I) teamwork and a sense of character progression- an Ogre is always an Ogre and, though it may stomp your ass in the beginning, eventually it'll be little more than a niggling flea, to be crushed 'neath your mighty boot.

Closer to Dark Souls or Monster Hunter than it is to Skyrim- the game isn't afraid to make you pay for foolishness.

[Game] Little Big Planet 2

[Review] LGP2 is a nice little game where you play as a sack boy(or girl) in a world made form craft projects, paper clips, ice cream and other things. The level design in the game is truly amazing in terms of a platformer. Going it alone is somewhat challenging espeacially when you are trying to get 100% on all levels. Thankfully the entire game has parts in it where you and another player can fight the meanies and save craft world. If you have younger siblings (in my case sisters) they will like this game.

I give LGP2 a 4/5 because I don't have the patience for electrified platforms.

Not a pretty game, the combat maps are satisfactory at best, the overworld and characters are just plain ugly. Missions are very repetitive, and there's just not a lot to do. But all that doesn't matter, because this game has the most satisfying and realistic melee combat I've seen in any game, and leading a cavalry charge in this game is one of the most fun game experiences I know.
I recommend mods. Lots of mods. Takes the brilliant combat engine and actually adds decent story and quests.

Minecraft (360)

A massive sandbox, where imagination, creativity, ingenuity, and the 1024x1024 map are the only limits. A great introduction to Minecraft for console players. Limited in comparison to it's PC brother, but there is massive potential in a game that inspires an almost child-like joy. In my experiences so far, there has been a disappointing lack of villages promised in the tutorial.

I was thinking about doing that, do you have some recommendations?

Diablo 3 (PC)

Oh my God, it's 1999 again and I'm going to waste my entire summer away farming Nightmare for enough goods to get to Hell. I'm in Heaven. Expect for the part where the story is utter shit. Trust me with this, the Spacebar key is going to be your new best friend.

Skyrim (PC)
No real quest mods to date, but the more modular aspect of gameplay-related mods is welcome. Satisfying gameplay, especially on the Stealth end of things. The story holds its own, but is nothing worth writing home about. First the Adoring Fan, then Fawkes, then Raul Tejada, then Cicero...

How is it that open-world RPGs à la Bethesda always end up with one hilarious or awesome dude planted there like someone's beloved cranium infant?

...

Yeah, I cheated, but I'm honestly spoiled between Bethsoft and Obsidian. Fawkes, Dean Domino, Lucien Lachance and Cicero are some of my favorite characters in RPG history.

Prophesy of Pendor is a personal favourite. Not much in the way of questing but it makes the world a hell of a lot more interesting.

Mystery Trackers: The Black Isle Collector's Edition

From the team that brought you Mystery Trackers: Raincliff, this game combines some truly scary/startling cutscenes with exploration and find item minigames. I thought Raincliff was scarier, but this is pretty intriguing, even when some of the puzzles seemed pretty impossible. In game hints and helps when you get truly stuck are a godsend. A "casual" game, but worth blowing a few hours on. Atmospheric and with an interesting story that keeps you invested in the game.

Spirited Heart

Visual novel crossed with an RPG with time-management elements. Your choice of three female characters: Human, Elf or Demon to romance twelve possible candidates, both male and female. Not all romances end well, and you can screw it up for yourself if you make the wrong choices. No real story to speak of, inability to save a game in-progress is annoying, but games only take a few hours, so it's not a game-breaking flaw.

Angband

Not really a game you can finish. Old school Nintendo hard Roguelike RPG. You will die, often, even after hundreds of hours of play. A different level every time you play or go back underground, and based on Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" Mines of Moria. Frustrating, but satisfying as well. Comes with unique swords and weapons (and foes) based on Middle Earth lore. Your end task is to fight Morgoth on level 150 or lower. Chances are you will die long before then.

Railguns the size of planets.
A deep, rewarding experience, with stunning visual effects and an incredible amount of content.
RAILGUNS THE SIZE OF PLANETS.
I know this is off-topic, but I was wondering what kind of graphics horsepower it takes to run Rebellion. I want to make sure I can run it on medium to high and it doesn't require UB3R 1337 GRAFIX P0W3R before I drop the $40 on it.

World of Warcraft

Levelling with my Worgen Rogue. Combat is more fun than with my level 85 mage.
Questing is too easy. Dungeons are a sleepwalk and leave me overleveled. Crafting is pointless. Feels like the fun I had when I originally started playing has been diluted.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
While I cannot comment on how it compares to the original, RO2 is easily one of the best online shooters I've played in a long while. A perfect blend of realism and fun, mixed with an uncanny ability to just suck you in for long periods of play. My only major complaint is that it's a little hard to get into at first, and teamwork isn't as prevalent as you'd expect. Still worth the $20 price of admission though, no doubt.

Lone Survivor
What seems like a simple 2D side-scrolling adventure game actually is one of the more immersive and truly scary horror games I've played since Amnesia. The story is actually quite interesting and leaves you guessing as to if all of this is real or if it's just in the main character's head. Overall, I'd highly recommend it, and it's a fantastic reason (among other reasons) to go grab the HIB V if you already haven't.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Great stabby fun in Renaissance Italy.
Good storyline, but felt a little short.
I even enjoy the sci-fi elements, although I could see why someone else would not like this game.
