have yet to find a video game scare me

but fuck man, the mannequin in silent hill 2 when you get your flashlight in the apartments disturbed the hell out of me....especially with the pyramid head scene so close behind it

i can't play the silent hill games without someone on the phone or in the room with me strictly on principle of going "i don't wanna open the door/walk through the door etc..." and having someone else argue me into doing it.....not necessarily scared, just don't like horror alone type of thing.....i have a nice collection of horror movies that barely ever get watched just cause i won't watch them alone.....not enough to actually keep my attention ya know?

no game has actually scared me for a while, and alot of newer games probably never will.
it's not scary if you can kill it with ammo to spare.... resident evil 5, i'm talking to you.

I'd have to say Fallout 3.
When you're playing as a character focused on item retrievel with low battle ability, almost broken weapons and only a few stimpacks handy
it wasn't hard to get 100+ stimpacks from that outcast base in the south. give the dude every scrap metal, etc, you find.

I remember playing LoZ: OoT when I was about 6 and finding re-dead for the first time. I got the stone of agony and found my first secret, the hole by the tree in Kakariko village. I dropped down the hole and charged through in excitement, only to find myself surrounded by zombies. I remember feeling so terrified and helpless as they screamed at me and my character froze, and the re-dead slowly plodded towards me. I basically jumped on the off switch on my 64, and proceeded to cry for some time.

Also in OoT, when you go back in time and open the well. That place could be the creepiest dungeon i've ever seeen in a rpg.

And none of us can ever forget the first time we murdered a cuccoo...
The horror...

I would normally agree with this point, You wouldn't think a game that allows you to hack the arms and heads off of every enemy you meet (making Python quotes all the while) would be scary but you'd be wrong.
Having said that RE5 was just barely more intimidating than a yawning Sackboy

though not nearly as entertaining.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I was 13, new to the LoZ series and making my way through the Forest Temple. My first encounter with a Wall Master was unexpected with only the tiniest of warning given when I noticed my shadow was growing bigger a mere second before I was nabbed and Link screamed.

Sitting as close to the console as I was, I hit the power button without thinking and sat there for five minutes trying to remember what the hell had just happened. I guess I was more scared than anything.

I know it's weird, but the levels where you're chased by a dinosaur or a giant polar bear in Crash Bandicoot really wigged me out...it's probably psychosis. :D

the airport scene in MW2, even knew about it ahead of time but was a little disturbed by it...but I guess that was the whole point of including that mission though.

Oh my god, Bioshock! D8
I dunno if that'll make me sound like a pansy, but that game made me scream like a little girl. It's all the goddamn anticipation, noises, dark movements, and creepy-ass happy music with blood stains all over the place. O____O
the thing that creeped me out most in that game was when you first get the shotgun. Also another part that i found creepy was the first time i saw a houdini splicer in arcadia.
It went something like this "I know i just saw a splicer walk around the corner ahead of me, reload gun, walk around corner, no splicer, oh shit he is behind me, turn around and he is gone."

At the start of Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, when you're in the General Store. The guy breaks down the bookcase you blocked the door with, and he finds you. HE ALWAYS DOES. So I was trying to hide behind a bench the first time I did it. He found me, and it scared the absolute shit out of me.

That game also has some fairly disturbing moments.

System Shock. I was about 5 when I played it, and when I was in the final virtual reality level- in which Shodan slowly takes away 1 pixel of your screen at a time, replacing it with her unchanging face- my computer was actually crashing from a virus. When I lost the battle, and Shodan took over the whole screen, she began a monologue and my computer crashed. I booted up again, and an alarm went off due to some virus. 5-year old me thought that the game actually infected my computer because I lost to Shodan. Scared me pissless.

Didn't touch that computer for literally 3 months. I still have haunting memories of it, 14 years later.

The last time I can remember being really surprised in a game when I was playing the Half-Life mod Afraid of Monsters: Directors Cut. The entire thing, and the original Afraid of Monsters mod are the most unsettling games I've ever played. But what really made me jump was when I was exploring a level of an abandoned hospital after jumping out of an elevator shaft, running low on batteries for my flashlight, hearing a squeaking noise, turning around and seeing a paraplegic corpse in a wheelchair wrapped in barbed wire three feet away from me.

Condemned 2. I was so immersed to the game I almost started running from the bear myself. When it tried to come through the wall, I jumped from the edge of my bed. My heart has never pounded like that while playing a game. Ever.

The opening level for Aliens Vs Predator 2. That had me so god damn fucking jumpy thanks to their being nothing to actually shoot at the whole time, even though you're expecting aliens to come out of the walls at any minute. Instead they have you shooting at pipes in the wall breaking, predators in the fucking ceiling growling at you but leaving you alone, and random shit popping up at you. When the aliens do show up though, you basically brick your pants and lose all sense of pretending you're a badass.

To this day, it's the only game to actually get me scared.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Half-Life 2 mod KORSAKOVIA.

That will mess you up. It will mess you up bad. Honestly, Silent Hill doesn't come close.

I will have to say F.E.A.R. That game scared the living hell out of me. I climbed up a ladder, and that little fucking girl was there, reaching for me. I turned off my computer right then and there. Not just the game, the whole freaking computer. I couldn't play it for days. God, she still gives me the creeps...

I have yet to be disturbed by a game, but I was however really freakin' scared while playing Penumbra.
