My nomination for worst load time is Borderlands. Seriously, I could make a sandwich in the time it takes to go from one area to another. [HEADING=3] AND I HAVE. [/HEADING]

Doesn't Wet make you look at Rubi smoking or some stuff?
it's actually the security camera view of Rubi in an elevator impatiently pressing the open button because she's tired of waiting. I actually thought it was a tiny bit clever.

Going to say that but my nominee for best use of loading screens, Fallout 3. The loading screens would show you snippets of what happened before the bombs fell. Being that I never played the first games, this was much more interesting rather than staring at a blank screen making the game more immersive in my opinion.

Force unleashed had alot of loading screens. I mean, it had to load just for the pause menu, that annoyed me alot.
I bought it just last week, and while this is annoying as fuck, I didn't go into them often enough to care.

The Metroid Prime games do a pretty good job of concealing the "loading screen"-it isn't a screen per se, but you're not doing anything other than waiting for the door.
Is THAT why some of the doors wouldn't open easily? I thought the game MP3 just had more or less buggy doors, I even ended up concluding that it helped to not be too close to them when you shot at them.

This somewhat makes sense now.

Seeing how this came as a suprise to me, i'll add my vote to MP as well.

Umm your all forgetting the worst cuplprit in recent history. Tekken 6. Every time you go back to mode select, every time between matches, every time between any screen, and its slow too. Very very slow. Considering sometimes matches can be rather quick and one sided...Yea there is a chance without exageration that you do spend more time loading then playing on and off.

I disliked how long the Sims 2 had to load whenever you wanted to go somewhere.

How did everybody forget about The Witcher already? Upward of a minute to enter a 10x10ft hut(of which there are 20 in the first act alone) and twice that to get back out.

actual loading? probably mass effect

But the time between turns in Civilization 2 for the PS1 were RIDICULOUS. It got to the point where I was waiting an hour or 2 between my turns.

Worst Loading to Gameplay Ratio: Given to games where the amount of time spent loading is large considering the amount of time spent playing

My nominee: Vampire Bloodlines: The Masquerade - on my first PC, upwards of 25 minutes for a single area to load (yeah it wasn't a great PC).
_______________________________________
Best Loading to Gameplay Ratio: Opposite the last catagory.

My nominee: Something like Evil genius, only really need to load once per play session. (Providing it doesn't crash, and that I'm recalling it right).
_______________________________________
Most Out-Of-Place Loading: Badly-placed loading screens/bars go here.

My Nominee: Mass Effect, it started to Load during play.
_______________________________________
Best Use of Loading Screen: Whatever the game does to entertain you in loading screens. Usually tips, or a tiny minigame, or player stats.

My Nominee: Once on a good computer Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, just because it has adequate and fairly relevant fluff.
_______________________________________
Worst Loading Screens: Loading screens that suck.

My Nominee: Any of them that don't give you a chance of knowing if they are taking a long time to load, or if the game is just frozen.
______________________________________
Worst Attempts to Disguise Loading: Bad attempts to "secretly" load the game, making it painfully obvious that its loading.

My Nominee: Mass Effect.
______________________________________
Best Hidden Loading: Opposite the last category.

My Nominee: Can't think of one yet.

Long, frustrating loading times:

* Last Remnant
* Lost Odyssey
* Tekken 6
Lost Odyssey did have like 10 seconds before the battle starts, but most battles lasted rather long for an RPG. Still, REALLY LONG. Last Remnant...I got no clue.

Yeah, you can draw tracks by moving the cursor along the screen.

WOW! Holy shit! I'm going to go get that right now! Could I do that in the PS2 version that I already had?!

Loading Awards? Can we call them 'The Loadies'? "And the Loady for Longest Loading Screen goes to..."

As for nominations, the text in the loading screens in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard make me chuckle.

Yes but you can win stuff, like if you time the paws to get bigger at the right moment you can get Demon Fangs.

You're right though, they are definately too frequent and indeed rather boring after the first... one. I would have played through the game a second time only for the loading screens and unskippable talky bits ('Blooge bloogle blurp burpy burp bloogle')

Actually, they're called the "Loading Bars". They're big rectangles. I'm cheap with the imaginary trophies.
