Not just that, but his accent is Jamaican which doesn't make sense to me at all.
It's not Jamaican it's African. Make a bit more sense now? You know the oldest accent on earth.
Huh. I looked up his accent and it said from Jamaica so... I don't know. Maybe a few people assume it's one thing, or the other. It could be African and I understand now that it's linked with the oldest language (hence the comparison on Protheans and Africans being the oldest of it's kind) yet still... it seems odd to me. No matter how I see it, a Prothean's looks do not go well with that type of accent. I would of imagined his voice to be deeper, firm and edgy. Even so, Javik is my least favorite character in all of Mass Effect lol.
Well I am sorry but who ever said it was Jamaican was wrong there is no two ways about it. The voice actors name is Ike Amadi and a simple Google search will tell you he is form Nigeria.

But wouldn't that defeat the purpose of developing a character then? Like say the voice actor for Sniper in TF2 is full on American... would that mean the Sniper's accent isn't Australian? Because you'd be surprised who the voice actors really are (a female is the voice actor of Tommy Pickles from The Rugrats.. that always surprises me even to this day.)

So though the actor for Javik is African himself (or speaks with an African accent), I still feel that Javik himself has a Jamaican accent overall.
No, he doesn't, because that wouldn't make any sense. He has a Prothean accent.

That thing is going to haunt my nightmares for some time.

Seriously, that is creepy on every level.

I don't see how you would say it defeats the purpose of developing a character. The voice is only part of the character how you speak is not who you are. It might be part of it but it's not all of it and yeah, for a guy called a Vengeful Ancient I think an African accent is appropriate.

Also I suppose everyone has a different view of things but I don't see why he would have a Jamaican accent. The two sound close to one another I guess I always thought Jamaican had more of a "bounce" to it. I don't see it. I could see how you cold misinterpret it at first. But I don't see how you could know the actor is form Nigeria and still think that.

Edit. If this is going to go down to a I think, no I think fight lets just end it here.

Thinking about it, Shepard gets around. Squadmates aside, he knows, and is on good terms with most of the galaxy's leaders.

Top 3

Garrus: Yeah yeah, unoriginal, I know. But he is Shepards bro [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HeterosexualLifePartners], always by my side. That, and give him a Black Widow or a Javelin and the game almost playes itself.

Mordin: Man, I got emotional in 3.

Legion: ...man, I got emotional in 3.

Bottom 3

Miranda: Am I a bad person for not giving her the supplies she needed, knowing full well what would happen as a result? ...*****.

Jacob: Who is he again...?

He's just an utterly forgettable tool of a character. I, like I imagine most other people, never touched the guy except for the very beginning of the game when you have to use him and his loyalty mission.
Oh, the Kanye West guy... right?

Ashley: I just didn't like her. I don't really know why. but I just did not like her. At all. The decision on Virmire was hard because I had to figure out who I disliked the least, and Kaidan came out on top.

Garrus was your best friend and a great multi-purpose squadmate, so he wins.
Mordin was interesting, good in some battles and genuinely hilarious.
Legion was also amusing, plus he provided a new perspective on Geth.
Thane was cool..then I downloaded an alternate appearence with sunglasses..now he's more cool.
Wrex was both badass and fighting for his people in a way no other Krogan would.
Grunt was just badass, the scene with the Rachni was utterly brilliant.
Joker is Joker.

You may have noticed the guys came first, simply put, they're more interesting and generally better in a fight. I didn't bother including Jacob or James because they're boring.

Liara is feisty and smart..and other stuff...
Tali is cute ,and, like Wrex, fights for her people.
Edi is funny, not brilliant in purely organic fighting but against synthetics she's useful.
Samara is interesting and powerful, plus her sacrifice was quite horrid.

Ashley is racist and stupid, Miranda is cold and annoying (though good in battle) and Morinth..well just because your Shephard is a male renegade dosen't mean he has to be a penis driven retard.

although dissucssing relationships in ME can feel a little..."disturbing fan fic" at times I was dissapointed there was no femshep-ashley option...I just figured it fit because shes Kaidens counterpart..and its possible with Kaiden
I thought you could in 3? At least that's what the wiki said.

Yeah, I don't think i'll ever forget the graph some dude created explaining what Tali's sweat must taste like... or the Tali love-doll. *shudders*

And I know what you mean about Liara. I admit I felt the change to the "dark side" in ME2 felt a little forced, but she found a very healthy balance in 3. A good character overall, and also fills the Bro spot for my Shep.
What? Graph... sweat? What the fuck?
Yeah, it gets passed around the Bioware social network and 4chan every now and then as nightmare fuel. Basically some guy made some chart or graph or something that showed the chemical compounds that, for some reason, must exist in tali and therefore must determine the taste of her sweat.

Ugh...

And as for the doll, well...

There are more "detailed" pictures of it floating around, if you really want to look.

I tell myself sometimes that it must be an elaborate hoax, and that no one would ever truly 'use' that...

And then I see the sweat chart again, and weep silently.

edit: found a link to some guys blog with the whole, awful thing: http://biowarefans.blogspot.com/2011/08/talis-sweat.html
....................[sub]oh God.[/sub]

Why? Why do people have to ruin everything?

I need to go curl up and cry in a corner now...

This is a toughie, since I (more or less) liked everyone. I suppose:

1) Ashley - Just a great, extremely nuanced character. Any one facet of her personality would be enough to build a character around for a developer like Epic or Bethesda. Bioware really outdid themselves with her. Anyone who dismisses her as a "Space Racist" doesn't know anything about the character and can be safely ignored.

3) Garrus - Because he's Garrus. When Kaiden died, the Bro-Position was left open and Garrus was more than able to fill the spot. I only wish you had been able to fist bump him in front of an explosion... just once.

3) Tali - This is a case of a fanbase ruining a character. The tali fans are disgusting. She was nice and kind of interesting in Mass Effect 1, but her romance was just creepy in 2.

I also think it's interesting that people mistakenly call Ashley racist, but no one cries foul when Tali is openly prejudiced against the Geth.
Yeah, being right-five. Possibly the only other person to put Ashley at numero uno. Unfortunately though, I feel that the VAST majority here can be ignored based on this set of conditions. Ashley was definitely the best character.

Had to also include you're Garrus comment because that is exactly right aswell. Except for me, Garrus was like the original bromance, and always had the best-man slot nailed down. Kaiden was cool, but wasn't a top don to me at any point. Just a minor don.

The Tali thing is just downright creepy. Speaking as a guy who enjoys laughing at the Tali-fanbase, I genuinely was unable to do that upon sight of the doll and the sweat chart. That was just saddening.

Ashley's NOT A RACIST DAMMIT!

Worst to best:
Jacob - Nothing, just nothing. Didn't romance him but everybody else could wait 6 damn months
Morinth - Nothing to her character other than "I kill people with sex".
Zaeed - Nothing to character other than ruthless merc.
Kaidan - I felt kinda bored by him, don't know exactly why.
EDI - Pre getting a body I liked, post didn't like the whole teach me about love thing.
Katsumi - Cool thief, but not enough there to get to know and like.
Samara - Psychic space samuri, ok but not great.
Grunt - Angry krogan, not much more.
Legion - Says some funny things, all the awesome/sad moments happen after he has left.
Miranda - Fanservice with a history that could of been more interesting.
Javik - Kinda cool having a prothean, but not much depth either.
Vega - Soldier done right, would be higher if he wasn't only in ME3
Jack - Part of the darker vibe I liked in ME2, interesting devolpment but only after leaving.
Thane - Interesting character, brilliant in ME3.
Ashley - Pratical person and I sympathised with the black sheep backstory, didn't strike me as xenophobic. However inconsistent dialogue in ME3 ruined her a bit. You forgave me a few planets ago, why do you distrust me still?
Liara - Appears in all 3 games, I like the development from naive to ruthless to inbetween the two. And some of her scenes in ME3 are so damn sweet/heart breaking.
Tali - With me in all 3 games, develops from being under the shadow of her father to being important in her own right. Also certain awesome squad dialogue.
Wrex - A study in how to make an awesome well-rounded and 'real' character from a war-like race. Plus after ME he does awesome things and talks to shepard about the past Mordin - The sex talk and Gilbert and Sullivan
Garrus - My femshep never experienced Garrus' reach but they have a proper bromance going on. Or whatever. With me in 3 games and an awesome character arc. I was so happy when I first found out he was Archangel. We have shared to many stories and jokes, saved each other lives so many times. There is no shepard without Vakarian indeed.

....Wow, it's really weird to see some of my absolute favorites end up on the bottom lists...

Top
1Wrex (He's the reason I adore krogan and would willingly don nearly anything to become one. Just saying he thought of me as friend made me burst into tears)
2Kaidan/Miranda (Sentinels may be hard to master, but damn if he/she hasn't helped to save my heroic ass more than a few times)
3 Jack (She inspired me to become a vanguard because of how awesome she is in my first playthrough)

Bottom
3 Garrus (He's a great BFF, but he's not nearly as a good a squadmate as other characters. Other characters were way more useful in a fight)
2 Liara (Better scientist than a fighter. She toughed up, but she still can't handle too much battle. Dies too early)
1 Jacob (He's just as squishy as the other two, just a bit better and only one power that can help the offensive if I'm not telling him to spam Barrier)

I don't get all the Ashley hate. She has a grudge (understandable, not justifiable) against aliens. Do people not get to know characters anymore?
