I'm one of those gamers that keeps an eye on the development teams working on games. Chances are if the developers are known for making good games, it'll reflect on the games time and time again.

With Rebellion I hit a snag learning that they would be the ones to make Alien vs. Predator, since they were the ones that made Rogue Warrior and many other mediocre to bad games that have come out in the last 9 years. Looking forward to the game I wasn't sure what to make of it so I did a bit of research.

Seems as if though through rumors the specific group of developers that made Rogue Warrior, they're studio has shut down. Rebellion Derby have shut their doors, while Rebellion Oxford happens to be the group that's been working on AvP. The Derby team were also the original group that created Lara Croft back in the day and since they're bad run of games Rebellion decided to close the facilities down for that and their lease was up.

Now it all comes down to Rebellion Oxford and whether or not they can fix any of the damage games like Rogue Warrior had done to they're company's reputation.

All I can say is only time will tell...and AvP does seem like they're finally doing something right...I mean it's the franchise that made them in the first place...??

Ooh game prejudicing how interesting.

Judge each game by its own merits rather than the developer.

I'd like to think that developers can make both good and bad games. I know this doesn't apply to everything, but it often comes down to simply how much time, money and people they can get to make the game; and that is decided from how many people are predicted to buy the game.

I'd guess lots of people are predicted to buy AVP, so hopefully, it will have the care and attention it should deserve, however, in Rouge Warrior's case, I would assume absolutely fuck all people were predicted to buy it. The way I see it is a game that you would only ever get as a gift for Christmas for not specifying what game you really want; and because of that, it lost the attention that it should have had.

No, the game was crap...I had to rent it to find out for myself.

Although Bethesda did put them in a bad spot since Rebellion Derby was put in charge after they took the game from another development team.

I don't know. I've not had a head for numbers. I thought my chronological age was a little over 22, but I could be wrong.

Let's see if I can figure out your age.... Hmmm. Birth date is listed as ", 1981." So according to my math that places you at.... 403 years. Wait, that doesn't seem right.

Say this is fun. Is it my turn to ask a rhetorical and unfounded question? If that's the case, are you Hindu?

How does my comment in anyway even suggest I said the game was good?

I've heard good things about it as well, once the initial technical issues had been fixed. I have a few friends who are anxiously awaiting the release, though I will not be joining them. Xenomorphs give me terrible nightmares.

Hooray for hilarity. I cracked up at the very first line of your response. Well played, sir. The classic internet acronym was also a nice touch, even though I found it awkwardly placed.

Umm?

Are you a name caller?

Seriously, how did him saying "Judge the game on its own merits, not the developer."

Cause you to go, "Are you 12?"

That just seems spiteful.

On Topic: I haven't played any games from this studio, but I'll take your word that they are bad, but thats not to say they can't make a good one. How good a game is, is often dependent on how long is was in the making, and I believe this one has been in development for about a year, no? I think it could turn out well.

Direct insults. How marvelous! I'd say yes, if only because I was wooed by the tech trailer they released in...2007? Other than that I've not actually played a Duke Nukem game. I do like the character, but the series was largely active during the time early FPS games still frightened me. As such I've replaced the Duke with Matt Hazard, and see Eat Lead as a bit of an replacement to it (since it is technically an homage and parody of a huge list of games.)

Yeah tell me about it :S Bloody aliens scared the shit out of me as a kid. If you have a pc I suggest you try the demo that's on Steam. It's quite fun and they'll propobly fix everything that needs fixing by the time it's released:)
I thought they had patched the demo. As marvelous as that would be, I'm rather restricted to the PS3 version. My computer is pushing on four years, and has yet to be upgraded. I'm not too familiar with the Asura engine, but I have little doubt they're still relying on SM2.

Oh, and as if you're response wasn't as cheesy and cliched, having no barring on the matter...0o

Ramiki, you're being the dimwitted one here. He gave a completley valid point about the fact that you shouldn't judge a game based on who's developing it, but rather how it plays. You responded by asking "are you 12" as if you believe such a comment is the kind of stupid thing a little micspammer would say

You are either poorly misinformed or a troll who has landed on the back foot

Apologise for being stand-offish and we'll let this slide. And by We I mean the rest of this community

Been playing the AVP demo, not hugely impressed so far. The graphics are less interesting then they seemed to be in screenshots, controls are awkward and gameplay appears to be very standard (other then the alien wall climbing, which whilst fun doesnt work too well).

Unless the single player is much more special I'll be passing on this one.

But when a game has yet to be released it's unfair to presume it'll be a mountain of shit when every previously developed game has also been a mountain of shit?
Your logic seems flawed.

If anything, I feel gamers are too informed nowadays. Just play the game. Read some reviews. If it sucks, it sucks. Half the game now is reading all the PR that comes out of the developers camps, and the news stories that start a year before the game is released, and people arguing if it is going to suck of not, before they even have the chance to judge it on it's own merits when it comes out. People will read a certain dev is making a game, and cry foul and shit on it before they even play it, all because of some preconcieved notions they have been spoon-fed by gaming media.

Well, I understand that, to an extent, but to be honest, he also had a point. Stay calm on the internet, you'll never meet these people, they are just words. I suggest next time, just provide a logical point back, works much better than say, calling them 12.

P.S. not trying to piss you off, just trying to help you out.

Ok..if that's the case than I apologize for the remark.

Although if DeadlyYellow and rest of you want to keep things civil than maybe you should heed your own advice and not start off calling someone prejudice over an opinion.

The way I figure it from then on it's fair game...I mean this is the internet!...;)

A community is suppose to be welcoming, and I haven't exactly seen any of that yet....plus you people are starting to sound like some clique...0o
