Yes, yes it did but I forget to mention it. It stuck into his right shoulder, making it harder for him to swing his ax.

" GAH!" Miffy yelled as slid down the wall after having the Minotaur hit him.
I'm back, and I've noticed Miffy has been beaten down! It's cool, I'm alright with Miffy being incapacited for the rest of the fight, I just hope he can be healed after so he's not just a being dragged around for the rest of the dungeon.
Seeing that his last shot had little effect, Artemis waited until the minotaur opened it's mouth in a blood lust roar and attempted to fire an arrow into the soft skin at the back of its throat.
The arrow misses, as the Immature Minotaur lowers it's head to charge at the last moment and the arrow sticks into the top of it's head.
In a contorted scream of rage, the Minotaur rips the arrow from it's head. It's charge has been averted, but it kicks at Njord with it's hove instead, the impact against his ribs is hard.
"This tunnel isn't sturdy," Bildin thought after his concentration returned after that last attack. "One more of those and it'll probably collapse." He considered his options and watched as Njord took a heavy kick to the chest. That probably hurt. "Well, here goes," he thought as he leaned his staff against the wall. It wouldn't help him here, its attuning didn't correspond to this.
His eyes closed in extreme concentration as he extended his right hand. A beam of light extended out from his hand, then bent like leather. He opened his eyes and cracked his light whip once before charging at the minotaur. He was trying to aim at its legs or waist, to stop it from being able to stand.
I cast Light Whip and attack the minotaur's lower body. That's much easier to say, but I feel like I'm cheating if I don't provide a lengthy description.
With searing holy light, the beasts right leg is sliced open. With a scream of dismay it topples to the ground. It's face contorts with primal anger.
Sisk, after aiding his compatriot, decided to take the offensive and cast fire bolt right at the beasts head as it shrunk to the ground. The fire caught on to the fur of it's head, it screamed and thrashed about. But after a moment the screaming died, and what was rest of the head smoldered.
The Immature Minotaur has been defeated. All party members have gained one level!
You can learn skills from many sources. Some by training, others by doing it a lot of times, and some times by study and research or even a bit of good old trial and error. Regardless, when you level up you get six skill points. You can put them into a number of things. Some of which are:
-Learning a higher level of a skill you know
-Becoming better at a skill
-Gaining a new skill
-Learning a new spell from a book or teacher
-Learning a fancy new combat maneuver
Regardless of how you choose to apply them, all of this will be done outside of dungeons. So, for the moment, this doesn't really mean all that much
I think that puts you at 30 or 50 unless you used your staff for the tunnel shtick.
We finally killed the thing, sheesh. We're almost through the dungeon (short, I know, but I want to get you used to buying/selling, plot important or just random social events, using Skill Points and the like).
The battle now over, Sisk moves to Miffy who is severly injured and seems to have a broken bone or two. "Don't move too much, you might make it worse." he says as Miffy rolls over. He examines him carefully, gently testing for broken bones, finally pulling a health potion from his pack. He glances up quickly to Njord, who is standing nearby, recovering. "Are you okay? That was quite a hit."
If i'm going to be the healer, i need some more information. What exactly are the effects of a health or mana potion? I'm also assuming they become more effective as I improve my alchemy skills. If Miffy does have broken bones, will a potion re-knit them? If I take healing magic, will that be able to mend broken bones? What about other conditions like dazed, drunk, unconscious, paralyzed etc.? What do potions/healing magic do about that. And - last one I promise - Do I make any type of skill check for using bandages, or making a splint? There was no first-aid type skill. But Sisk is a wandering healer and would have some skill as a field medic or barber/cutter.
Okay. One more. Can Bildin and Sisk learn spells off of each other. If we have different spell lists - rather than having to see a trainer in a city/town.
The whip disintegrated in Bildin's hand as he regained his composure from that last strike. His mind was clouded and his vision was blurred, but that commonly happened after he used magic in quick succession. It wouldn't last long. He turned and walked toward his staff, which was still leaning on the wall. He opened his bag and slid it in. He didn't feel like carrying it.
Now, for the minotaur. It had dropped its axe on the ground. To put it nicely, it wasn't a expertly made weapon. The handle was rough and the axe blade itself was dull. It could still be used though. He picked it up with one hand and, seeing how heavy it was, brought his other hand over to the handle so he didn't drop it. "Anyone want this thing?" he asked the others in the group, one of whom was incapacitated and another of whom was wheezing on the ground.
In case anyone doesn't want the weapon, just assume that I store it in my bag. If anyone does want it, just have Bildin give it to you. Also, the battle puts my mana at 30, with my staff still fully charged.
After the events of that last battle, I feel overpowered.
Here's a bunch of OOC for you! After this we can get done with this dungeon, it's not quite over yet.

1. Mana potions regenerates a predetermined amount of Mana. You're assumption equals correct.
2. Healing Magic can and will knit bones back together, if you have the Mana for it.
3. You can remove most common effects such as paralyzed and unconscious through Healing Magic's main course, and can research (if you are so inclined) how to remove drunkenness if he/you so desire(s).
4. I'm losing my footing with the numbers but yes you can heal broken/fractured/splinted bones with Healing Magic and or potions, just so long as the potion is of a high enough caliber. Depending on how good the potion is it might speed the process, create a temporary or otherwise just weak fix, or have the bones knit back together. Healing Magic can do any of that.
5. No, things like splints and patching people up will be covered by what you say you do and the type of wound. If it's magically inflicted or an enchanted weapon did it, however, you might need to use Healing Magic.

Yes, but this has been one encounter. Magic is meant to be inserted into a situation that you've analyzed to the greatest possible effect. This will get a bit more complex than the wall crushing, but that's the best example I can give off-hand.
I'll work something out if you still think it's over powered, but bare in mind other dungeons will be bigger and bigger and this is probably half way through half of the next one. I think that's right but I don't have time to check the maps I've got to be someplace (I know we all do).
P.S: Bildin, thank you for the meaty posts. You, sir, are an inspiration.

It just seems a bit strange that arrows and sword strikes do about five damage while magic can do fifteen to twenty. I'm aware that magic is limited, since it consumes mana, but it still seems too strong. Perhaps we could have magical "tiers," with lower tiers being instant use powers, like shooting a fireball, and with higher tier powers like charging up for a turn and unleashing a wall of flames. The fireball would be about as effective as an arrow, albeit with fire damage, while the wall would be a bit more...lethal, though it would have some drawbacks, whether it's time to cast or something more sinister, like drawing on a character's life force. Then you could open up a whole branch of "dark magic" which deals with draining the life force of others. But I ramble...

Thanks. I make it my goal whenever I post to make everybody's day a little bit more awesome.
Also, arrows are not worthless [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AnnoyingArrows]. They're actually very powerful. A single arrow can puncture organs and create a whole messy situation. If we want to go semi-realistic, we could super-buff archery, or we could just stay with D&D physics and keep them moderately powerful. /end_ooc
Miffy drank the potion Siskan gave to him. Suddenly he stood up straight and took a few shaky breaths as his bones fixed themselves.
" Thanks Siskan, by the hells those things hit hard." He said as he walked over to join the rest of the group.
" Nice spell Bildin, granted we all softened him up a bit first." He said with a cheeky smile.
He then picked up his torch and began looking farther down the way.
@ Earthbound, while I do agree that magic could use some balancing you also have to remember your characters drawbacks. Your bad at close range, and your probably a glass cannon, so one good hit might finish you off.
@ Modereth, might I be so bold as to ask if we could do more than one action in a post? I know it could get confusing but it would help by letting us do more in less posts, so slower posters could contribute more. An RP that uses something like that is the GENERIC ZOMBIE GAME : The Undeadedning of the undeaded. I'm just suggesting because right now combat seems a little slow.
Artemis returns his arrow to his quiver and retrieves his now low-burning torch from against the wall before moving up beside Miffy. After peering down the tunnel for a moment he turns back and regards the rest of the party. Bildin was looking tired after unleashing his magic on that beast, Njord seemed to be favoring his side still from the kick he took, and, although seemingly healed now, Miffy took quite a blow early on in the fight. Hopefully, Artemis thought, that minotaur is the best that this cave had to throw at us.
"Alright, are we keeping the same order of march or should we switch things up a bit. I can take point with Miffy if you'd like to hang back a little Njord."
If the order stays the same I wait for Njord to pass and keep my bow. If I take point I unstring my bow and place it on my back so I can use my sword.
"No way is anyone going in front of me, and hand over that axe little man."
(can i dual weild or will i get a dual wield penalty?)
Njord tested his side a bit by swinging his arm around
"Ahh I've had worse" He took out his small pouch of herbs and rubbed some on the spot he was kicked. (basically what the herbs do is numb the spot their rubbed on and stop bleeding)
"Little man," Bildin thought as he heaved the axe at the warrior, who caught it out of the air. "Not all of us are adrenalin-fueled brutes." Of course, he didn't say that out loud, since he didn't want to get on the bad side of a man wielding two battle axes.
"After you, Conan," he said to Njord as he pulled his staff out of his bag and regained his composure. His mind was no longer racing and his vision had sharpened, though he still felt slightly drained from the previous combat. He looked at the wall. The part of it that hadn't collapsed was very smooth. It wasn't natural, not at all. Some sentient creature had done this. Bildin just wondered if it was the same creature that gave the brute, the minotaur that is, that axe. If its weapon was the same quality as the minotaur's, they probably wouldn't have that much to worry about.

I'm not familiar with the system, care to elaborate.
And Earthbound, I think that's a good idea. I had a fantasy RP up on the uRealms forums that had much the style you're talking about with the tiers. I'll certainly work on it.
The group continued down the hall. In front of them they found an alcove of dirt. It bumped out into the wall like a continuation that snubbed to a close after about ten paces. The floor was covered with hay. There were some bones, dung, and what looked like a sack of rag.
On closer inspection, the rag had hair and was shaking a bit as it in and ex hailed, rose and fell. To the left and right stretched corridors, each leading to another turn.
"Perhaps we should check both corridors," Bildin said as he walked past the quivering mass on the ground, completely oblivious to it. "Myself and someone else could go down the right corridor, while the rest could go down the left." He turned to stare at the group, searching for the most violent looking member. His eyes naturally drifted to "The Wolf," holding his two battle axes with a bloody hoof mark on his chest. "Njord, care to join me in clearing out this tunnel?" he asked inquisitively, with a bit of bitter irony in his voice.
"Gladly"
He said while swinging his new axe around, it was a little off balance but it was heavier then his current one and would do an excellent job of crushing bones. He put his previous weapon away since using two that weren't balanced to work together could prove disastrous.
Miffy quickly put his hand over Bildin's mouth, with his free hand he pointed at the mass of rags.
"Quite," Miffy wispered his voice filled with tension, " If that thing is another monster we don't want to go down a hall way and get ambushed from the rear, we need to find out what it is first, kill it if neccessary, then we move on." Miffy moved his hand off of Bildin's mouth slowly, and turned around, trying to make the absolute least amount of noise he could.
"Artemis, do you have any idea what that thing is?" he asked.
The system I was referring to earlier was one where the player names a set number of action points he takes. Each action point takes up a certain amount of time, usually a second, so post is what your character does in those say, 5 seconds of combat. Then you take it and see which actions where successful.
Ex:
Captainguy42:
1. Miffy moves closer to the monster.
2. Miffy attempts to flank the monster.
3. Miffy attacks with his knife.
4. Miffy attacks again.
5. Miffy rolls out of range.
Mordereth:
1. Miffy gets within range of the monster to attack.
2. He then rolls around to get to it's exposed backside.
3. He stabs it right in the shoulder blade with his knife.
4. The monster blocks his second stab, and counterattacks, grabbing Miffy's arm.
5. Miffy is unable to get away because the monster has his arm
Followed by a final tally of the action.
So the real thing doesn't need to be nearly as dry and generic as I just mention obviously, but the idea is that I'm making 5 combat posts in one, saving time and making it feel like we get more done in a fight. It's also nice because you can wait until more than one of use post's and make it feel like it's all simultaneous.
Ex:
Fanklok:
1. Njord raises his axe and lets out a battle cry as he charges the monster.
2. He slams the monster into the wall with his shoulder.
3. He slashes at the monster with his axe.
Captainguy42:
1. Miffy moves closer to the monster.
2. He then attempts to flank the monster.
3. Miffy then attacks with his knife.
Earthbound:
1. Begins an incantation drawing up a spell.
2. Continues chanting, his voice becomeing more magical, and resonant.
3. Finally he releaseing the spell.
Mordereth:
1. Njord charges the beast as he lets out his battle cry, followed closely by Miffy. Behind them Bildin begin's chanting his spell.
2. Njord slams the monster, dazing it while Miffy flanks it. Bildin's spell continues to grow more powerful.
3. Njord and Miffy plunge their weapongs into the monster at the same time while Bildin unleashes his spell.
Comcast needs to go to hell. I'm saying this because my last attempts to make a post have been failed as I got timed out. I'll try to make an IC post, but it probably won't work. Just letting you know the problem.
