Hey all you friendly folks of The Escapist. I've been around here a while and noticed some of you have very interesting tastes in music.

I was wondering what kinds of metal music you metalheads here listen to.

I myself am currently obsessed with death metal and it's various sub-genres.

Right now that's Korn, Avenged Sevenfold, Sum 41 and throw in some classic Spineshank for good measure.

Cookie to anyone who's heard of Spineshank before now.

I know how maligned those particular sub-genres are, though I do have a weak spot for a band called Oceano.

I'm very mainstream when it comes to metal.

Metallica, Dream Theater, Ozzy, Sabbath, Megadeth, Motorhead (more thrash), Pantera..


I'm finding it really difficult to keep within the 'metal' criteria! Hard Rock would have been much easier!

Technical death metal, for the most part. Otherwise, I listen to thrash and Nu-metal if I'm listening to metal, at the time.

Oh, yeah, I also listen to a few black metal bands(Absu).

I listen to mainly stoner metal and industrial metal.

I'll also occasionally venture out into old fashioned doom and grindcore.

I love heavy. Slow heavy, fast heavy, doesn't matter. I like it loud.

Loud is the only way to listen to metal. You can't pick out the different layers very well if it's not loud as fuck.

Death, Opeth, Necrophagist, Pestilence(Mind spheres is a great album), Autopsy and Morbid Angel, to name a few.

I've heard of them, I think. I'll give them a shot. Also, if you haven't heard anything by Fleshgod Apocalypse, they're pretty good.

Yeah so many generes so little time..... but just gotta go underground for the good stuff. and oceano....... thats with the black singer isnt it.....
