I don't consider myself a metal fan, as I favour the more stone-rock or ambient jazz soul punk side of things, but I do love the metal stereotype of Manowar lovin', leather wearin', beer-drinkin' rednecks going around screaming "METAAAAAAL!"

You should try listening to Isis or Pelican. The former has vocals, the latter does not.

As for what I DON'T like, metalcore. Ugh. Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet For My Valentine really are loathsomely bad. And the FANS.

Bloodbath is awesome. Probably one of my favorite bands.

OT:I listen to all sides of the spectrum.If it's metal,I listen to it.I don't really think what genre a band is in.I just as long as I like the band.That being said some of my favorites are Opeth,SlipKnot,Hate Eternal,Behemoth,Negura Bunget,Slayer.The list goes on.

I'd say Gorod is more technical death metal than it is melodic. Also, BTBAM is an amazing band.

Ah, that's unfortunate, then. It sucks to lose a vocalist in that genre, considering the derision you get from other vocalists. Interestingly enough, after a small display of the vocal style to a conventional singer, he thought it was great.

As to the cores, I've given them a fair chance and like a few songs by a couple of them. Though, as you say, it's best to avoid them, if you can.
