Seeing Carmine get his brains blasted out in the first Gears of War.

I could only smile as that annoying, faceless, cannon fodder got what he deserved.

Ratchet & Clank is full of these, to the point when Insomniac now start every level with the camera pulled way back!

Plus, any game Bethesda have so much as breathed on.

Playing ocarina of time, first time being let loose into the field. Good stuff. Metal gear solid 2 really wowed me when I played that game, the plot was bananas but it was so pretty...

Oh, and getting a backstab in team fortress 2, watching your oblivious enemy crumble to the ground, or, in an inspired moment of source shenanigans, sometimes they go flying halfway across the map.

Just about the entire game of Shadow of the Colossus. I am so looking forward to Last Guardian.

In HoI2 TRP mod, the Soviet bitter peace event when playing as Nazi Germany.

Stronghold Crusader: Seeing an enemy castle consumed by flame.
This. Also VATS headshots on Super Mutants and the ending cinematic of Diablo II. Good God was that game brilliantly atmospheric (minus the entirety of the second act, I thought the whole bright, spacious desert thing was a bit incongruous).

First seeing the outside world in Oblivion. I actually just stood there for a few seconds, taking it all in.
If you dug that, you should try Just Cause 2.
My vote goes to taking in the view from any of the high peaks in that game.
Tied with that would be seeing a super mutant head explode in slo-mo from a killer VATS shot. Watching my wife play the other day, I'm still hypnotized by it.

Walking out on the wasteland for the first time in Fallout 3
yeah, that WAS pretty cool, especially the first time you go to megaton and get horrified by seeing an unexploded nuke in the middle of the town.
Fallout 3 was beautiful, but in a different way if you know what I mean :)
yep, knowing that all, or many, of those corrupt politicians were evaporated by atomic fire makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The section with the Windmills - once the area's restored - in PoP 2008. Say what you want about the actual gameplay, that game was fucking beautiful.

Knifing the guy in the face at the end of mw2

@ knife: that was pure, sheer, unadulterated badassery. and quite cathartic if i must say so.

@ pokeball: especially after it was your last one, and it's a mon that you've been looking for all week.

lol btw, off topic:
can I officially be called a necromancer now? i just raised up like 4, year-old threads, and got them working again.

That is exactly what i wanted to post.
Me too. I was so tired of walking around in that dark, gloomy castle dungeon, so stepping out into the bright and beautifull outdoors, gazing down at the river, seeing the mountains and a butterfly flying by was nothing but breathtaking.
Well, I'm going old school and saying the first time I got to the Bloodmoon expansion in Morrowind and it started snowing. It is one of my favorite moments of gaming wandering around Solstheim with a gentle snow falling and the theme music at a full swell. Oblivion may use more bloom, but you just can't beat that.

First stepping foot outside in Oblivion
First sight of the Citadel in Mass Effct
Florence sprawling out in all directions around you in Assassin's Creed 2
First seeing rapture in Bioshock
Watching your troops trample the bodies of the enemy underfoot, persuing the remains of a far superior army which you have impossibly beaten off the battlefield
Watching the enemy get mowed down in Granary: Arena in TF2 when you get 3 good heavy-medic pairs going - they have nowhere to run :)
Mass Effect 2 - Lights illuminating the the Normandy SR2 for the first time.
Mass Effct 2 - The sequence between exiting the Omega 4 Relay and beginning the final battle with the Collectors
And so many more I can't think of - who says games aren't art?

Everything ever in Okami. Everything.

The top of the tallest tower in Assassin's Creed (in Acre).

The first time you see Rapture in Bioshock.

Pretty much every colossus in Shadow of the Colossus.

Looking into the distance from a cliff while holding Yorda's hand in Ico.

AH many momments are stunning both achivement wise and graphical wise

Sins of a solar empire: Haveing 2 allys fighting each other with massive fleets over your neutral star base as you calmly select the self destruct button on your starbase i never forget the momment when you see your worthless starbase Explode and seeing 2 huge fleets just vaporise only to be left with glitering space dust

Mass effect 1-2: many have already been said Omega 4 relay the ending of mass effect 2 and such mainly the ending of mass effect 2 it was STUNNING!! just seeing comander shepard runing through an alien base with dramatic music and the bit at the very ending showing the reaper fleet desending upon the milky way its even better after hours of endless torture on the hardest difficulty and also the its amazing when you are calmly siting behind cover when u pop up and give the order for Legion and Thane to fire 2 sniper bullets at the possed Collector and intant kill him ^^ also love the bit when you meet up with the woman that interviews you in the first mass effect in mass effect 2 and u get the choice of the rengade option its just epic how he just walks up and completely smacks her one my jaw droped!

Dawn of war: Surrvaying the battlefield after loseing more then 1000 soldiers to the powers of chaos as space marines and wining

The nuke in call of duty 4 and the mission in Modern warefare 2 where it seems like the end of the world after the effects of the EMP

in multiplayer in MW 2 seeing the Nuke icon and the press right on D-Pad appear at the top of the screen when in a AC130 for the first time your like... Holy ****!!!
