meh, cept once you know how to 'solve' the puzzle they cease to be a challenge, at that point they might as well just be normal enemy's that take a little longer to kill

this is fucking WHY. way to much HP, even the 'fast way' of bouncing its attacks back still takes for ever to kill it

The entire concept of a boss fight is BS, and I've run into so few games where a boss character can die as easily as anyone else that I can't even recall which games they were. I simply cannot stand any boss that is a damage sponge, even more so when only a specific type of attack can damage it.
if the boss is easy to kill then there's no point in having one, bosses are supposed to be a challenge, and while it seems most developers have forgotten how to make a GOOD boss fight, the concept is far from bull shit, it, like many other things is being mishandled

Chase bosses, where they run off, and you have to dodge a load of shit to get close enough to hit them. Usually all it takes is one wrong move, and you lose all your progress getting closer and the boss goes to maximum distance whether you were still ages away, or a couple of inches.

Worst one of those I ever fought was in Sonic Generations (a game where four out of seven bosses are actively fleeing from you). The last boss has you doing the usual Super sonic thing of "lol I'm invincible, but if I hit anything I get knocked back, and I need to keep my rings up or I die for some reason". The only way to even try to get close to the boss is to boost constantly, so you're dodging stuff that will appear half a second before you can react to it. Furthermore the boss itself has an attack where it teleports it's arms to you that can leave them right infront of it's one weak point.

But all of that is nothing compared to it's final trick. It arbitrarily, and randomly switches between the two perspectives, side on, and infront. Everytime it does you have to swap as well, a move which losses all the distance you had gained, and can stop you from grabbing any rings. The only hint you get that it's switching is a character announcing it, as it's doing it, so you've no way of knowing if you're getting close enough to win, or if you're wasting time.

The final boss time travelling mind-fuckery thing from Earthbound. It was actually a good fight, i just think it was a little bit gay that you have to pray to kill the big ass thing. Took me a while to figure that out, since that ability is one that you never use in the actual game because it either does fuck all or fucks you over.

anyway, it's still one of my favourite retro games to replay these days :D

Those fucking stone gargoyles in Dark Souls who defend the Undead Church's roof with such fanatical skill that I screamed "FUCK THIS!!!!" and traded the game in.

So far I think the wall of flesh on terraria takes the cake (I havnt even started on the Twins, destroyer or Skeletron prime)

It took me about 7 or 8 tries to kill it, and I was near broke cause of all the money I spent on Ammo!

I never struggle with bosses in games, it's odd but they just seem to click instantly.

The boss that took me the most tries was probably the Ork Warboss on Space Marine, since he deals massive damage and has large amounts of health.

You are correct. He was one of the "special" bosses in the coliseum. I never managed to beat him in the original game, but I was quite happy when I took him down (FINALLY) in II.

Almost every boss on the European Extreme difficulties on Metal Gear Solid 2&3. The Fury and the Fear in particular took me so long to beat because I never had enough tranquilizer ammo.

1. He's big
2. He has attack with pretty big range
3. He summons shit at you
4. Every time I fight him, There are some ridiculously placed indestructible stones around so he hampers my ability to manouver him
5. Have I mentioned he's big?

The final boss of BG&E was somewhat awful compared to the others. The whole game up to that point was a grewat action adventure with original enemies that required dexterity and in many cases attention and creativity to beat them.
Then, after traversing a vast alien complex, you get to play FRELLING DDance Dance Revolution with the most powerful of them.

You rage quit on that boss? Damn, those guys were easy. Roll to the side against any of their attacks. Just put some lightning to your weapon or use the Drake sword off the tail of the drake defending the bridge and that shit is a cake walk.

You didn't even get to see Dragonslayer Ornstein & Executioner Smough. You fight them both at the same time, and the one you kill powers up the survivor. You would be perfectly within your rights to rage quit on that bullshit. But Maneaters 2.0? Really?

Some of the bosses in FFXIII really frustrated me. Sometimes because they were easier than the monsters inhabiting their areas. Other times because you could only hit a certain power level, you would be unable to get any stronger in that chapter/ area. While the FAQs would say those bosses are easy, I found they were sometimes really hit-or-miss. Even with the right configuration (can't remember what it's called) of healers, attackers etc. That game was such a pain in the ass.

He was in the first and I'm pretty sure the second. I never played the second but I beat him in the first. I had to get Sora to level 70-something to take his ass down. Very hard fight but satisfying once you win.

i also lost many a nights sleep on WoW killing Maggoc in Blade's Edge mountains Solo as a mage :( i tried it everyday using all my cd's only to fail and fail. and when i beat him i was too high a level to do the quest anyways. i cant even count the number of times i turned my computer off xD
