For me, I think the most confusing storylines are the metal gear solid story, and the warcraft story. I have gained lots more understanding of the MGS storyline, but warcraft just has waaaaaaaaay too many characters to keep track of.

I only know the 3rd one's, and that is pretty simple.
And also fucking epic.
But MGS makes my head hurt.

FFVIII. Contrary to popular belief, it does make sense, it just requires a lot of mental piecing together. Yes, even the infamous orphanage scene.

I guess you two have a low reading age then? The plot was extremely simple.
... ya the plot was sort of difficult to explain to people, but its not really hard to grasp at all when you play it from the beginning.

Most game plots are pretty simple if you pay attention most of the time.

The Metal Gear Solid series is a little harder than most because the writing is bad, and more than a little schitzophrenic, like he just gets bored halfway through each game and just starts shoveling on randomly wierd shit for no other reason than to see if we'll keep playing.

I think Crono Cross was the last game where I simply just stopped paying attention to the plot and just plodded along from objective to objective before finally quitting.

Metal Gear Solid.
I think I would go along with it and be cheeky, but I just cant get over the fact that the game somehow wants you to take it seriously? or at least the game does.

and then you try to figure out the point of it all... and just realize that "hey, Kojima, I think you have enough money to hire a good editor" because you might have a good story to tell... but its lost in a giant flood of verbal diarrhea.... that I stopped caring.

I also skipped the cutscenes in MGS4, and still liked the game. I didnt know what was going on entirely, but I was much more entertained.

Final Fantasy and Indigo Prophecy are also notorious for having plots that make me think.

"hmm, yes, ok Im following you"
then at some point it turns to...
"well thanks, I was almost enjoying the story, now its just preposterous"

Luminous Arc. Trust me, you whip through the story so fast you need to start a second save slot to understand it all

Agreed. It got a bit more convoluted at the end of the sequel, but the first game was very simple regarding the plot.

Also, very much agreed with MGS making people's brains hurt.

Warcraft has a story where they bring back the dead when they said there was no way to do so, so yeah it is the most confusing story ever.

the only reason i know about warcraft is cuz i've read the books, played the games, and listened to my younger brother repeatedly tell me about the storyline throughout the playing of world of warcraft and every expansion that has come along. SO warcraft storyline... yeah gotta pay close attention to it, take notes, and as it progresses you gotta keep going and looking over notes if you truly want to understand the whole story.

and yes i realize there is next to no one who would do such a thing and no i haven't, hence the reason for me buying the books. :)

legacy of kain was a pretty easy storyline to grasp i think, as long as you not only played the legacy of kain series but the soul reaver series as well. then it all adds up.
