The anime Clannad and its sequel, After Story. Plenty of scenes that will make you cry big, wet, manly tears.

The first scene that ever made me cry was when Fuko, a little girl in a coma that only wants people to come to her sister's wedding starts to fade away. People can see her spirit wandering around at her school and people begin to forget about her. Eventually they all do but the main character still remembers on the inside. In the end everyone remembers and Fuuko's sister manages to see her spirit at her wedding before Fuuko slips back into her coma. Beautiful music playing at the time. I get teary eyed just thinking about it.

Ya i agree. Kiwi! is the saddest cartoon ever. The thud at the end sucks the most... Why did i watch that........?

I watched one episode of "The Mis-adventures of Flap Jack".

My friend and I couldent belive it. Everything was grimy, greasy, hairy and gloomy. Everytime the little boy gets hopefull he is harshly shot down with the fact that he will never make it to candy island. Heh maybe they are preparing kids for life.

Oh yeah and Squid Billies. Ew.

Aw, Kiwi. Tugs at my heart. It is so inspirational, yet so sad.

BUT!

A different animator has added a special ending!

Now you got to admit, if he had the foresight to plan all of that, he must have thought of this too...

Yeah, it wouldn't have been as effective, but it made me feel better ^^;

Oh yeah and that one aforementioned Futurama episode. I bawled.

Anime downers: Grave of the Fireflies and Voices of a Distant Star

Kudos to the original poster for starting a post-badge padding topic that actively punishes those who would actively participate in one.

Oh I know, Flapjack is SO funny, but it makes you sad when you dig deeper. Like in this one, Flapjack is going to go into the sewer to fish out some diamonds just to provide for Bubby and Capt. K'nuckles and he gets some diamonds, but it turns out it's just rock salt, so he ends the episode poor as always :'(
Also, all of the sad ones I'd say have been said... Up was sad, Kiwi was sad, that video "Draw with me" was sad.... so I got nothing :(

Futurama, more preciesly, Jurassic Bark episode.

I assume you watched it, if not, you probably regret it... Anyway, in that episode, Fry (protagonist) finds a fossile of his dog from the year 2000. He tries to bring him back to life, meanwhile, we get to see a lot of scenes from their life - where they met, how did they spend time and play.

Then, Fry realises that his dog was fossiled at the age of 15 - so basically, he died 12 years after Fry was frozen. He knows that this dog wouldn't be happy, that he had a new life, new owners and has learned a lot new trick already...

But the truth was a lot sadder, and that makes me cry - the dog waited for Fry to come back, every single day, rain or snow, not moving from the place Fry worked at. God, why did I remind myself of how sad that was...
I cried from that one...

My vote goes to The Secret of N.I.M.H. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084649/] (1982). Although the cartoon movie was absolutely brilliant it was received by many people (including myself as a kid) as being too frightening and violent. The Walt Disney Company originally rejected this project because it was perceived to be "too dark" and complicated. I'm glad I watched it though, it set up my love for the philosophical Gunnm manga during my late teen years.

I think it was a cartoon about rabbits and their home being destroyed by farmers. It had scenes of rabbits being trapped underground and was very disturbing at the time. I wish I could remember the name..

I believe I can fly
while I fall out of the sky
Why did I have to be a kiwi
living without large wings to free me
.....I.....this......why?
this is not the saddest cartoon ever, this is the saddest and most depressing thing ever made.
I had to write something slightly substantial

Wile E. Coyote or whatever it's called, It's a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner who mocks him and laughs at him as he's repeatedly crushed and maimed.

If you'll allow comics with cartoons, I'll have to say this version of the final Calvin and Hobbes comic I found

the last one... it must be... what kind of a parent would make their kid take pills to get rid of an imaginary friend? my mom used to tell me about "bobby" my imaginary friend. i would talk to him when i was walking, or point and say "der bobby." or something like that. Robert was the name of the houses former owner, and my mom really believed it was him. as do i. just because.

I wholeheartly agree with you. Sad, but o so beautifull. Going that far to chase a dream, gods I can learn something from that little critter. I actually shed a tear at this video, and I never ever cry. Such an inspiration.
