Halo 3

The one were you have to get 2 kills with one Splaser blast.

In Lonewolves
were only 2 maps have lasers
And everyone wants it
And no one is close to eachother for more than 5 seconds (cuz they kill eachother)
And the laser has a 4 second charge time
and there is ALWAYS some behind you

Seriously virtually the only way to get this achievement is to ask other people to stand still for you.

That's the thing, though, is that it can be easily boosted. I don't have that achievement, but my friend did some language exploit or something and then bam.

Not to be mean, but most of you guys have no idea what a hard achievement is.

Indeed, I have done the language thing, it was fun :p

And indeed, then again I have yet to see an "impossible" achievement

I'd consider that pretty fucking difficult, in theory it's pretty easy and just incredibly time consuming but then again, things require materials which means having to deal with other people, auction houses.
It could get quit bothersome in many areas not just time.

Well, I would say that time consuming achievements are hard, even with a game, because it's not easy to keep up that level of dedication. Acheivements that are merely difficult in terms of game mechanics are things you can get lucky with, and are usually going to take less time and probably be at least somewhat entertaining.

That said I am not a huge achievement/trophy hunter, I only go out of my way a little when it comes to them, and I've never 1000/1000 or Platinumed a game since I generally don't find it fun to do so. If I'm not going to enjoy going after an achievement or trying for it, I usually don't bother since I don't have anyone I feel I need to impress with my eliteness.

That said by definition I think rank required multiplayer achievements are the hardest in general. The #1 in the world thing seems to be the defining one to my way of thinking, closely followed by that 5000 hour brick breaking bomberman thing if it's accurate.

People who mention the 10,000 player kills bit are overreacting though, since some people basically live on online multiplayer shooter servers. Besides I used to PVP constantly in WoW even though I'm retired (from the PVP aspects) and I've got over 30,000 kills (and I'm a lightweight compared to many).

I'm not sure what final fantasy game it was, but it had an achievement for getting all characters to max level, which someone calculated to take some ridiculous about of game play. I mean like 5000 hours or something.
That would be FFXI Online, which gets my vote as the hardest 1000, but it's just time consuming, not really hard.

come on guys if gears of wars' almost impossible achievement isn't top of all lists for impossible achievements. It was time consuming 10,000 kills online I think and difficult because they had to be online against real people. I never got it I don't even want to try and I don't know a single person who did.
By the way massive kudos and respect for anybody who did.
10,000? Try 100,000.

Any collectible-gathering achievements without a guide, particularly in GTA or Assassin's Creed. I mean, how many fucking flags are there? I've been through pretty much everywhere in the game and I haven't even found half of them.
Good sirs I believe if you check my gamercard you will see I have 1250GS for Gears of War and 1750 for Gears of War 2.
Can people stop saying either Seriously... please? THEY ARE NOT HARD. The only hard thing about Seriously... was getting the damn thing to actually unlock at 10 000 kills (15k for me).

I got seriously 2.0 in a matter of a few hours. You start by getting every other other achievement [original 1000, though might as well get rest besides 100] (boosting party likes it 1999 with bots on 1 minute rounds of Execution or Warzone) then just finish with Act 5 Chapter 5. Not Hard.

Veteran Gear in Gears 2 (Reach level 100 online) was waaaaaaay harder - before all this 20xp shit - that was something that it took good players skill and time to BOOST. It took the first legit Australian nearly 6 months to get all on host, always boosting, playing around 60-70 hours a week. Now that is something to be proud of, and it's still not nearly the hardest achievement of any game.

While I don't think we can definitively say what is THE very hardest achievement. One that is certainly up there is Way of the Master Ninja
Complete the game on the Path of the Master Ninja.

Seriously anyone who has played this game will know how fucking hard that is to do.

Well, the multipayer servers for LOTR: Conquest have been shut down, making the trophies/achievments literally impossible to get. There are a few other games with impossible trophies also.

As for ones that are possible, I don't know - I have yet to come across a trophy I can't get with a little work. That's not to say I have every one, sometimes I get bored and give up but that just means it will take longer to get.

I have about 15/16 (can't remember off hand) platinum trophies and the hardest ones I remember were probably 24 freeflow challenge medals in Batman: AA or complete the game on hard in Prototype. Some of the platinum medals for events in that game were pretty hard too.

Here [http://ps3trophycard.com/profile/ze_r] is a link to my (slightly out of date) trophy info in case of the unlikely event you would like to personally judge my hardest trophy.

Something that is basically impossible to do legit but is easy to boost doesn't somehow make it not hard. It's still basically impossible to do legit, the only way to get it is basically cheating.

OT: Aperture Science in Portal 2. You need to perform PERFECT runs of the maps to get all the gold medals. And my 9/18 progress reset. RAGE.

Also, Wedding Crasher in L4D2. It can be boosted, but that doesn't make it not hard. You need to be a Charger at one VERY brief segment of the Passing, to smash a survivor through 8 wedding chairs. Seems easy enough, yeah? Nope.avi
Again, you need to be the charger here, and you basically need to come up from behind on them, because as soon as they get past the chairs, it's not possible to have them get smashed through the chairs due to the gondola. Also, you have to walk completely out in the open in order to reach the chairs, and hope the survivor doesn't move from the one spot that's lined up perfectly, because there is a ledge you can't jump up, and need to use the stairs to reach the chairs, but the chairs are on opposite sides of the stairs, requiring that you walk up the stairs and then move to the side, in front of the unjumpable ledge, to be charged into the chairs. Also, most people run FAST past this part because there is a guaranteed witch at the end of the chairs. Also, the chairs can't be touched basically at all by other infected or else they'll move relatively slightly, rendering them unable to count for the achievement. They need to be in the starting position for no real reason. And even then, if you DO manage to come behind a survivor, have them lined up perfectly to fly through all the chairs, it won't work half the time. I even tried boosting it, and I went through all the chairs like 10 times for some other guy as Charger but it didn't unlock for him, and neither did it for me when I got Charger. Or else, we'd grab the survivor, smash into the chairs, and just not even move it at all.

I think the Hamilwho? trophy in MLB 10: The Show is really hard.

You need to hit 29 home runs in one round of the Home Run Derby. If you don't hit a home run, it's an out. you get 10 outs.

Good luck doing it.

I'm going with the achievement for all Battle Trophies in Star Ocean 4.

I'm pretty sure I win this thread, but most people here haven't touched that game, so they don't know just how impossible that really is.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/star-ocean-the-last-hope/guide/#

This whole game is pretty much damn hard to achievement mine.
That's not impossible, it's just long and random (especially for the "do exactly X damage" trophies). Even the missable ones aren't hard, you just need to know them in advance.

For actually hard:

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label

?®?S?Ì (100) (Sorry, can't type moonspeak at work)
Defeat Spiritual Larsa, the True Last Boss. In order to even fight her, you must reach the end of God Mode without losing even a single life. Have fun, good luck.

Now google "Hardest boss ever" and realise that you have to do that. Not to mention get through all five stages before it without losing a life.

(Of course, I could also mention all the other bullet hell games, they all tend to have achievements for 1cc or no miss clears. The true ending ones in Triggerheart Exelica are ridonkulous as well, because you have to no miss clear the game, and make sure you have enough pickups to fight Faintear on stages 1 and 3.)

Yes, it does. A simple exploit can get the achievement easily. That can't be done for Way of the Master Ninja in Ninja Gaiden 2, or 100 wins in Dead or Alive 4's Survival mode. For those, it is pure skill and nothing else.
