Lilium (you know, the theme for Elfen Lied).

It's just so... *sniff*... beautiful...
That's almost... funeral song worthy... *breaks up*

YOU NEED TWO.....just be warned....you will cry.

Gotta go with anime:
Always makes me get a bit teary eyed...

and of course this as well
Even more so if you know what the lyrics mean.

Off he goes : Pearl Jam....Because it evokes memories of my older brother who died when he was 24, leaving two young daughters behind. He was self destructive and reckless, never really one to settle down, despite his situation.

Here are just a few songs that I think carry a lot of emotion in both the music and lyrics:
Chris Isaak - Life Will Go On
The Delgados - The Light Before We Land
Megan Mccauley - Wonder

Friend of a Friend by Dave Grohl (Credited as Foo Fighters). He wrote it about his time with Kurt Cobain, and all the things he saw and how he felt about his ultimate decision.

What really makes the song though is it is, above anything Noveselic or Grohl have done since Nirvana, almost Nirvana sounding. The way the guitar riffs are played, the style of it, Grohls vocal selections. It all sounds so Nirvana-esque.

While an Excellent and emotional Anime, be warned that it also contains extreme and graphic violence, plenty of fanservice, much of which could easily be labeled inappropriate, and is very dark in its subject matter at times. If you can stomach that, be sure to watch it though.

OT: Lilium would be my choice as most emotional song as well. Although "On the Moonlit Rooftop" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdzP5SF0We8] and "Naraku no Hana" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRe1tt2qUxI&feature=related] comes close as well in that regard.

The song from the Gears Of War 3 trailer

Guns N Roses: This i Love. It's not a well sung song. Normally GNR is able to disguise Axls honestly poor voice (this coming from a pretty good GNR fan) but it doesn't. It's also pretty bad to hear live. But there's something there that I connect to.

Lost In Hollywood by System of A Down. I think it just connect with me struggling with dealing with friends moving away and my fear that something will happen to them and I'm not there for them.

Great. Now I need a hug.

I am personally a very emotional person.
I cry over many songs that touch me.
I do not listen to any modern music..for all my favourite songs are from the 60s-80s
Anything by the Bee Gees makes me cry, because they were my fathers favourite band.
I cried while watching WHen you're strange, a movie about the doors..it was an amazing documentary and the doors is my favourite band..if anyone agrees with my views..please reply.

tool - wings for marie pts 1 & 2 for the lyrics. the writer's mother was bedridden for 10,000 days before dying yet still kept faith in her religion, yet the writer hates religion and detests his mother's faith (which is made quite clear in this song [link]http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/323/[/link]). this song is beautiful because, despite the writer's disdain for his mother's faith in a god who ruined her life, he admits that if anyone deserves to go to heaven, it's her, and he basically tells god to let her the fuck in.

between the buried and me - backwards marathon for the lyrics. it's about the writer's love of music, how he was contemplating giving up music because it doesn't seem worth it at times, but in the end he can't give up doing what he loves.

between the buried and me - mordecai for personal reasons. as cheesy as it sounds, this song helped me "discover myself". to do the song an injustice and sum it up very briefly, it's about freeing yourself from the expectations of others and doing what you want to do in order to find your own happiness in life. plus, the solo at the end is fucking gorgeous.

circle takes the square - interview at the ruins for the lyrics. it's about the courage it takes to commit suicide.

[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYrAlwJr5ys&fmt=18[/link]

masashi hamauzu - atonement for the music because it's fucking gorgeous.
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6cuMZ5Frbg&fmt=18[/link]

radiohead - how the disappear completely for the lyrics and music. lyrics are just full of despair and the music is fucking gorgeous.
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAF8D0ugyVk&fmt=18[/link]

sigur ros - ara batur for the music because it's fucking gorgeous.
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_tIss1OhGM&fmt=18[/link]

this will destroy you - happiness: we're all in it together for the music because it's fucking gorgeous.
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4pcrMmP88A&fmt=18[/link]

stars of the lid - tippy's demise for the music because...well, it's pretty fucking gorgeous.
[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDbvzyvfRNY&fmt=18[/link]

also, too many modest mouse songs that i feel like naming for their lyrics.

aw yeah big post

Not really a song, but:

This one seriously never fails to bring a tear to my eye (and yes, I suspect I've linked it in other threads).
Oh, and this one has actual lyrics, in a language not my own:I was astonished to learn this was a wedding song. I would have bet my life on something funereal.
