Ok just to get this out of the way.. Pretty much everything on this thread will probably be SPOILERTASTIC so umm yeah.. read at your own risk >.>

The question is simple. Who's the baddest of baddest bad guys in gaming? Are they overpowered gods of destruction? Are they walking avatars of death? Corrupt leaders of lands, or simply blood soaked mercenaries eager to slaughter anything for the money in your back pocket? I pose this question to you? who's the worst of the lot that you've seen and why?

Name: Luca Blight

Game: Suikoden 2

Occupation: Lord

Known Offences: Ordered the violent slaughter of what was pretty much a boy scout group to have an excuse to kill everything he didn't already own. Razes entire chunks of a country to the earth. (wipes nearly every town on a landmass off the world including a massive capital city.) When he's not personally leading charges against defenceless villages he's poisoning family members, executing his own generals (or handing them over to you because he's bored with them) When he finally does bite it after his own countrymen decide he's too crazy to be in charge he fights like a zombie requiring over a hundred men to ambush his night raid force at least 18 of your best fighters + a handful or archers just to wound him to the point you can fight him on even one on one ground.

He put it best himself in his final moments

"It took hundreds to kill me, but I slaughtered humans by the THOUSANDS! Look at me! I am sublime! I AM THE TRUE FACE OF EVIL!!!"

So that's my pick for this list why not share yours good people of the escapist forums

Well the Emperor form SWTOR he wanted to kill everyone everywhere. It's hard to think of someone more evil then that.

Nathan Drake: Not his real name.
Assumes relation with Sir Francis Drake.
Kills hundreds of people trying to chase down what is, to all intents and purposes, theory and supposition.
Not an ounce of regret or remorse. Smiles all the way to the bank.

Smug murdering shit.

Hmm.. interesting answer.. Player characters are always that wild card in these discussions.. Happily taking the option of evil when one has the option to do good. (especially in instances where doing evil is both harder and/or serves no purpose than to otherwise do evil) That does make for a special kind of evil doesn't it?

A curious bad guy.. would you care to elaborate on this answer a bit maybe? I never got very far in The Old Republic so I can't say much on this character.. And you do make a good point, someone wanting to wipe out everyone is a tough hand to beat but there are far more evil. Scale does shift one up the evil ladder but I think motive would move one higher. You don't have to want to kill everything.. but enjoying every second out of wiping out even a planet. (Like giggling like a child with a new toy while you stab someone repeatedly infront of their family type of enjoyment in the acts is in my opinion a far higher level of evil.)

Dr. Neo Cortex from Crash Bandicoot.

He tried to take over the world by creating an army of mutated Australian animals!

Ohh.. now that's the kind of answer I was looking for.. That's a different kind of evil than anything so far. One who sees mass murder as just a bump in the road on the way to a farther smaller goal, Money and fame (especially in this case as it's not even promised or sure to be there.. just the chance of it maybe being there at the end)

and yeah.. that smug smile the whole way through like he knows he's the hero in his personal story. That's a completely different level of evil.

Good answer my friend.

I don't know that well something to do with wanting to absorb all there force energy so he can live forever. It's in the JK story line my brother played it not me.

That's a free ticket to his own special circle in the after world that's for sure... give the man credit though he knows just where to shop when looking for animals capable of striking fear in the heart of the knowing and soon to be knowing world.. >.> Australia.. It's the mordor of this world I'm certain of it >.>

I want to stick up for Nathan Drake a little bit. I had this conversation with a friend a couple of months ago when he said the same thing.

Yes, Drake does kill a hell of a lot of people, but he only really does it in self defense, most of the time the people he is killing are hired thugs who have been given the simple instruction, stop Drake. So put in this position, what choice does he have, does he let these people kill him first? That would make for a very short game.

In both Uncharted 2 and 3 there areas where people are not shooting at him and they get away without being murdered.

And ok yeah, I can understand your annoyance with him not showing any remorse for killing the people he does kill, but you can explain this away by saying that its just typical action hero bullshit. Does James Bond or John McClane ever show any remorse for blowing away the small army thats trying to kill them? No, its usually a clever one liner and then sex with the girl. I don't see why Nathan Drake gets flack for doing the same thing.

Now, him being the destroyer of lost ancient artifacts I can't defend...

Kratos.

15 counts of Deicide. If you add to that number his half brothers, Titans, and other, it goes up to 25, maybe 30. These are the people that are bothered to be named and it does not include the millions of other beings whose only crime, atleast where he was concerned, was that they got in his way.

See? Now this is evil. He murders millions in God Of War 3 because he's pissed at the gods.[/quote]

He does it so that humanity can grow free of the oppression and suffering caused by bickering gods who treat the world as their plaything. That's totally noble. And to be fair, those people were in his way.

OT: Erm, I'd guess any of the servants of the ruinous powers from Warhammer 40k are pretty damn evil, although in Space Marine the guy doesn't actually do anything that bad. Pretty poor for a dude wanting to be a daemon prince, didn't even stand on a puppy or anything. Some of these guys overfeed people on the crushed up remains of other people until they're huge, then pump all the fat out of them, skin them alive and use the skins as stylish furnishings in their dark fortresses. And that's not even when they're looking for a promotion, that's just what they do. Just killing soldiers and a few civilians doesn't really cut it, if I was a ruinous power I'd have told him to go the fuck home and try harder next time.

Since the thread is for evil guys, I won't mention forces/gods of evilness. Also, the thread is about games. Here is my pick:

Name: none (he destroyed his True Name). Regrettably started being referred to as the Unnamed.

Game: Mage the Ascension

Occupation: Nephandus

Known Offences: the very first Nephandus. The first man to strike a deal and start serving what could only be described as Lovecraftian horrors that are evil. Their goal (and therefore his) - killing Creation. The Unnamed is may have been the basis of many myths through the ages of true evil, such as Satan.

The Unnamed was active throughout history to set some key pieces and things in motion. Then decided to rest for lots of years before his final act comes in one of the scenarios in Ascension.

Known Offences since his final rising (I'll just list the more major ones): His first move - horribly killing the majority of magicians and magick in the world (your flesh, soul and magic being torn to shreds). As a result, collapsing the Gauntlet between the real and the spiritual world causing the two to forcibly merge. Evil, malign spirits of suffering, pain or actual evilness and malice, start stalking the world, making everybody as miserable as possible. The Consensus gets utterly shattered (think of it as "how reality operates" - cause and effect need not follow one another. Or even be connected) and the Technocracy (bad people with good intentions - at least they were trying to protect humanity from just that) perishes.

Second move - destroys the world tree which severs the link between spirit worlds. And this prevents any of the powerful magicians from returning to help. The Unnamed then hunts them down and kills them one by one - the last hopes humanity and Creation could have.

Final move - enacts the rites that bring his masters to the world. Eldritch abominations, demons, spectres and evil spirits of all kinds are unleashed upon Earth. Imma just quote something here

In a ritual held at the new site of his rule, in the blasted wasteland that was once Eden; the Unnamed summons his masters to Earth, giving them leave to incarnate physically within Creation. As they do so, pockets of the Tapestry[footnote]The Tapestry - reality, the world, the universe. It is sort of a collective term for everything.[/footnote] dissolve forever, unable to support the weight of the chthonic titans. Here and there, around the world, pregnant women miscarry children, finding horribly misshapen things that crawl away of their own accord, animals bleat and howl, with some of them going mad and rabid and others just dying, and bodies of water turn to blood and venom. The order of Creation is broken, and Those Who Came Before are given dominion over all that is. Finally, their jealousy finds its satisfaction and they learn what is to have substance and existence, to the lamentation of reality itself.

Conclusion: My guy is so evil, he wants to make reality a scorched husk. And succeeds.

And the worse thing is he's apparently related to me...

Someone told me that the game requires you to kill loads of innocent security guards in the tutorial level...nice. :<

I would say Kefka of FF6 damn that clown is evil. Also he is a clown, it could only be worse if he was a mime....

I'll see your Kefka and raise you Kuja from final fantasy 9, a man who's sole reason for existence is to turn people against each other and seeks to control the world and achieve immortality because it is a crime against humanity for the world to exist without him.
