Are you kiding? The carbine was amazing.

Anywayz i'm gonna go with the knife from resident evil 5, sure technically it worked fine but you couldn't move while you were holding it.

The Crossbow from Deus Ex.

I must be doing something wrong, because I have NEVER been able to get that piece of junk to work properly. It has always been far more efficient for me to knife, or hell, even sneak past the A.I rather than using it.
Oh dear, its actually very effective and I used it lots. You do need good small arms skill though, and the effect does depend on the ammo you use - it is generally essential in the more stealthy missions where you don't want to raise the alarm. i'd be happy to say its my favourite weapon in the game.

My candidate for most impractical weapon is... well, all the "guns" in dead space. And anything with a large area of effect or delayed fire e.g. BFG, Redeemer, Shrink ray..

The Chinese Pistol in Fallout 3.

Has anyone ever used that piece of junk?
I use the chinese pistol in fallout 3, but only because i like the design of the mauser C96
I liked the way it looked, but even with the unique one that lights them on fire, it still SUCKS

The new Rocket Jumper from Team Fortress 2. It's a rocket launcher that does zero damage. I really have no idea why anyone would use it.
It's designed so you can practise on rocketjumps.
Practicing rocket jumps is best done using an actual rocket launcher so you get used to the amount of damage you will take by using the tactic. Anyway, don't the gunboats already allow people who dislike the rocket jump damage to negate the majority of it?
The no damage rocketlauncher is designed for those that berely knows how to rocket jump.

Any handgun with a scope. I'm talking to you fallout 3. There's no practical use for a scope on a handgun, especially if you consider the handgun's effective range in RL is around 50 feet. And with the recoil, that scope is going to give you one hell of a dose of scope-eye.
Borderlands would like to have a talk with you.

OT: The Wildcat Legendary SMG from Borderlands, just such a terrible weapon, worse than some of the shittiest shitty weapons from that game.

The Crit-a-Cola and BONK! Atomic Rush with the Scout.

The Crit-a-Cola probably will kill you more than help you, and Atomic Rush is only useful for dodging Sentry guns, which there's few reasons to do anyway, since usually an opponent will see you and follow you and finish you off.

SEPHIROTH enters the thread followed by his Chorus

Sephiroth: "You have a problem with my Sword?

Me: "Say hello to my little friend!" I open up with an M249
Fix'd. While he's whining, just open up with a firearm. His sword won't stop a machine gun, so here's a good time to recreate your favorite machine gun shot. You could be like the Heavy, you could pull a card from Scarface. Hell you could even pull Dirty Harry's famous paragraph. Something epic, I'm sure.
Hate to be a fanboy but, yes he can. He can deflect bullets with his sword, move faster than you can blink and has mastered most magic spells in the game. You'd be dead before you got the gun pointed at him.

/fanboy mode off.

The poison in Assassin's Creed 2. Hilarious, yes. Efficient and practical, no. Still an awesome weapon though.
