I can't say I've heard people saying it was above The Walking Dead on a narrative level. That just sounds... kind of ridiculous to me.

Frankly, I loved Thomas Was Alone. Puzzle Platformers always entertain me, and the narration and story were great. I wasn't as emotional over it as I was over games like The Walking Dead or even Red Dead Redemption, but I still think it's a good display that creating characters and making the player care about them doesn't depend on shiny graphics and high-budget ridiculousness.

That honor would either go to Modern Warfare 3, Medal of Honor (2010), or Medal of Honor : Airborne

Let me get this straight, I was able to enjoy portions of MW3 (especially the ending level) but the rest of it and the entirety of the other two games just had nothing special about them. It even seemed like the devs were bored making them, just going through the motions.

Oblivion.

The locations were boring. The combat was boring. The aesthetics were boring. The story was boring. And while frankly it was all put together quite well, I just never got beyond the point of 'meh' while playing the game. It never really caught my interest but neither did it frustrate or anger me.

It merely exists. It's alright... I suppose. I guess I can think of worse games to play, but I'd still rather not play it either if given the chance.

Tomb Raider (2013)

Just completely average all over.

Extremely perplexing is how many people consider the Radio Tower climb such a great moment. All it is you holding up to make her climb slowly up a ladder, it takes control of you for no reason to have her climb up the rest of the ladder, then hands control back to you, just for you to climb up yet another ladder.

The only above average thing to come out of that game was Gav's song about it.

All of this. I was expecting more from that game. Especially after Morrowind. But nope most generic and boring fantasy game ever

Also Bioshock Infinite. Wasn't a bad game but I was expecting much better considering all the rave reviews it got. It was just pretty much worse than the original game in every way. Had none of the atmosphere what so ever and the decision to limit you to just two weapons was fucking stupid.

Also Darksiders II. It was certainly fun at first but then it dragged on way too fucking long. And just when you think it was close to ending it drags on even fucking more. They should have cut out more than half the dungeons in that game, and they should have entirely cut out the whole land of the dead section.

Kingdoms of Amalur.

Wasn't bad enough to piss me off, but wasn't good enough to make me enjoy it. Story was uninspiring too.

I dunno how far I got in it, but nothing seemed to be changing for the good so I just stopped playing and uninstalled right then and there, something I rarely do.

For me I'd have to say the Half Life series. I guess people overhyped it, I was just all around disappointed when I played it. Dead Island was also pretty meh. While I adore Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs' story, sound design and atmosphere, it was meh. The recent resident evil entries (5 and 6) were pretty meh (Revelations was great though, if cheesy). Also I'm going to go classic here and say Jak and Daxter. I much prefered Jak 2 and 3, they were fantastic, but the first was just really boring. Saints Row 1 was pretty much just a GTA clone, and speaking of GTA, GTA 4 was pretty meh as well. Some of those are going to get me in trouble, I can tell.

Yep seconding that. The game seems awesome at first but then you realise that every single quest is the same and boring and the whole world is boring and it's way too fucking big. Also the combat is pathetically easy even on hard mode so there's never any challenge. The lore of the world is also terribly uninteresting and the storyline is generic fantasy crap.

I pretty much just stopped playing and uninstalled it about half way through.

This.

Not a game that made me hate it... but nothing to praise it for either.

I guess its okey for the people that like it and... um... well thats about it.

Also, God Of War series. I tried it for like 1 hour at a friend´s house... he was like "OMFG YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS GAME IS AWESOME" the whole time while I was like "Ok" while playing it...

Again, nothing bad on it... it just didnt clicked with me at all. Standard visuals, standard music, standard bosses... I guess the gameplay is good. Probably. But thats about it.

Certainly not the first game I would play unless I was unbelivable bored or something.

Agreed...
The killer for me was when Martin gives his rousing speech at the end to...something like a dozen guys.
I know they couldn't have rendered a full crowd in game, but it just pointed out how limited and flat that game was beneath the massive world and (then) shiny bloom graphics.

LOL.

That would actually have been a plus if it was me. I love details like that :)

I'm going to have to say the second FEAR game, Project Origin. I cannot think of any other game that made me feel absolutely nothing while playing it.

The third game was slightly better but only slightly.

Oh, it gets even "better" after that when said "army" charges about 300 meters down a hill towards an Oblivion gate.
It looks like a community theater rendition of the finale in The Return of the King (Lord of the Rings).

EDIT: Er, not Two Towers.

So a game that makes me feel nothing...Well, that's hard, because "average" generally means that I'm going to hold it in a very negative light due to the simple fact I spent money on a not-good game.

With that said, Skyrim is probably the worst offender. I lost interest very quickly and have never bothered to invest a considerable amount of time in any character, simply because the game's story and world are just so unappealing. I just...I can't explain it. I should like it, as it has a lot of things I really like. Mechanically, it is vast improvement over Oblivion, which I loved, but it doesn't have the same character and is just so boring and bland. I can't even appreciate the world's beauty in that game. Nothing in the game is bad, but everything, from the aesthetics to the characters to the plot to the exploration of the world just doesn't get me excited, nor does it really get me angry. It's just...there...a lifeless shell.

Not particularly good - not particularly bad.
It was ok though.

Ninja'd - but yeah what you said sums it up for me - except that I liked Oblivion more than Skyrim - spell editing FTW.
I did prefer Oblivion on the whole much more than Skyrim, and I probably should have specified that it was really only the melee combat mechanics that were vastly improved. There were some minor improvements elsewhere, but on the whole, Oblivion was a more fun and generally enjoyable experience.

I'm going to say Killing Floor. You shoot zombies, get money, buy guns, rinse and repeat. Nothing to it but a half decent way to kill an hour.

I probably wouldn't have put a third of the time into Oblivion I did if it wasn't for mods. Oblivion always looked like a stepping stone to greatness. You could see goal but it doesn't quite make the leap.

God of War: Ascension
I own all God of War games and think they're all amazingly awesome. As a Kratos fan boy I expected a really fucking great game. What I got was a huge pile of meh. Story wasn't intresting, Kratos felt really off and the combat was often really fucking annoying due to the zoom outs that made you unable to even see what was going on.

Only played it once so far, as compared to the 3-6 times of the other games, so maybe I'll change my opinion later.

for me it would have been half life and halo 4

i guess with half life it was just over hyped and i guess at its time it was the benchmark for a good FPS but nowadays i just think that other shooters surpass it

As for halo 4 i guess the main reason is that after ODST and reach (mainly ODST) there was just nothing in the levels of 4 that really had an impact on me. lets just say that the deaths of noble team were better built up than the death of cortana, and no halo game has yet to beat the atmosphere of ODST which as far as im concerned is the best halo game so far
