So, we all know that the music in a game can help create atmosphere, tension and leave us generally shitting our pants...(I'm looking at you F.E.A.R) But, what one track do you remember most, what track had you shitting yourself or feeling like Chuck Norris on steroids?

To me, the track which makes me feel all warm inside and generally "Lol-o-fucking-awesome" Has got to be this:

But honestly, I feel this is the most awesome sound tack ever, It just leaves me feeling like a God? The guitar, the rhythm, the bass and drums...all collide to make an absolutely stunning sound! Martin O'donnel is a legend for sure!

So, what's yours? And why?

The most memorable, and to me, the best soundtrack in a game is Final Fantasy X's soundtrack. It's just incredible to listen to.

Here's a sample:

Memorable like gets-stuck-in-your head melodies? Probably something 8bit. Metroid, Castlevania, the first MSX Metal Gear come to mind, as well as the obvious Marios and Zeldas. The first two Pokemon generations, too.

i loved Fallout 3's soundtrack. The horns just made everything sound awesome.

I really enjoy Halo 2 and 3's soundtracks to. I think that people would have thought bringing singers like the ones halo used into video game music would sound awful, but it actually sounded very good considering the enviroment and situation 'Chief and his marines are in.

Sounds lame but the most memorial soundtrack I have for a game is in Kingdom Hearts...
It's the song from when you're running around the beach on Destiny Islands.

It's such a pointless song, and it's not even exciting or anything, it's just fun. :]
Not to mention you have to listen to it for about an hour straight...

Every time I hear the Metal Gear Solid melody it gives me chills. But the one thing that gets me is the ending song to MGS. I'm reminded of the ending each time I hear it. During MGS:4 when you get the song on your Ipod, I just sat there listening to it during the Shadow Moses mission over and over. Too awesome for words.

Brutal Legend!

Driving around in your awesome demon car with the apocalypse raining down upon you and power metal playing in the background? Can't get much better than that.

Licensed: Galaxy News Radio in Fallout 3. Such beautiful mental dissonance between the cheery old big band tunes and a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Original: You can't beat Chrono Trigger for top-to-bottom quality, although Final Fantasy VI is definitely in the same ballpark.

Some people will reproach me for saying this, but I thought Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2's soundtracks were very ambient. The existential, "far-out" space feel of them really did create a futuristic, alien environment for me.

Mine would be that of Mass Effect. I played through that game about 6 or 7 times. And then I got the soundtrack itself and listened to a heaps of times on its own.

Off topic: If we're just talking about games, this is the wrong section, I believe.

Imperishable Night. I loved almost every song in that game, and they just progressively better as the game went on.
