Fallout 3, the BB Gun.

Killing a radroach, the weakest enemy in the game that can most often be taken out with a single shot, takes four hits to kill. Not to mention the ammo is rare, BB guns themselves are rare, its all just a tutorial gun.

The Trench Knife, okay, so combat knives have short range and bad damage.. And you want to give me an exact copy with lower damage? Thanks!

The Shovel, that has been seen being wielded in Point Lookout has me scratching my head.. How good can a shovel be?

The severed arm you get from killing Gimble in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

Brick in Timesplitters: Future Perfect. Or any starting pistol in just about any FPS, really. Except for the Halo games, which have had some good starting weapons down through the years.

The Frying pan in the original Fable you got as a "reward" for completing the treasure hunt quest.
For those who haven't played said game: It didn't do any damage, at all.
This argument again, you need EVERY sin gle clue and must follow the directions precisely otherwise the fryingpan has no damage.

I recall this weapon being mentioned in another thread.

I believe it only did no damage if you did not gather all of a certain group of items before retrieving the pan, otherwise it is the ultimate weapon.

I believe someone even said that the weak version of the weapon actually heals your enemies.

For those who say the BB Gun in Fallout 3, I disagree.

The .32 revolver is worse. Sure, it does more damage, but let me explain why.

The BB gun is a tutorial weapon. It really doesn't count as a real gun. The .32 revolver is a real weapon you are supposed to be able to defend yourself with. It fails horribly at this.

Also, there is another factor that contributes to the already horrible nature of the .32 Revolver. It uses the same ammo as hunting rifles. If you've played fallout 3, you know that Hunting rifles are incredibly easy to find. Odds are there is a hunting rifle on the enemy you just shot, and if not then his nearby companion. Hunting Rifles are more common than .32 Revolvers. So you would have to be insane to use the .32 revolver, as you could instead use the ammo in the hunting rifle.

If you only had BB pellets, then you would have no choice but to defend yourself with the BB gun. But if you have .32 bullets, then you would just shove them into the hunting rifle. You would never use the .32 revolver. That is why it is the worst weapon.

Many of the weapons in this link. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JokeItem?from=Main.JokeWeapon]

Probably the harp in Final Fantasy IV. The uselessness of the character with it is why I quit it early on.

I'm gratified to note that someone already mentioned the bubble gun.

Oh my god you got the reference you are my new best friend
I remember seeing an ad for it in an EGM-squared magazine, like, 12 years ago. I'm actually kind of surprised I did.

Poke in worms.
Beat that
It's a very useful tool for moving worms short distances. Like into water. Poke, used properly, can be both deadly and humiliating, plus it saves using a weapon with more oomph.
Yeah but the baseball bat, the fire punch and blow torch were much more effective

I know it's pretty obscure, but anyone tried to use a bow in Mount&Blade? I'm pretty good at shooting things in games, but I couldn't even hit a horse with that shit.
It's very reliant on the RPG aspect; once you get the right skills up to a decent level you can easily eliminate half of the opposing force by your lonesome.

Anyway, the Beamer from Planetside takes the cake. It has no use in any situation imaginable.
