FPS becoming psuedo Oscar bait. What happened to me being an 80's action hero taking out the bad guy, saving the day and relaxing at the beach/ski resort/base with my buddies?

In Dwarf Fortress, aquifers are a bit too prevalent.

In XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the guns occasionally fire in a different direction from where they're actually shooting, although the effect is often hilarious (and if someone attempts to say that this is an actual game-affecting glitch, you are wrong and I might cut you).

In Myst, the generator doesn't last long enough in the Stoneship Age and I always fear it's going to turn off while I'm down in the brothers' rooms. D:

the walk animation in Persona 3 moves you faster than the movement of your legs would indicate and it looks like you're gliding across the floor, but running without your hands in your pockets looks awful as well, so I make myself sit there until he puts his hands in his pockets before I run around

That pretty much every game with subtitles never has the option pre-enabled. I need them even if I can hear everything they say. I even want text on movies and tv-shows in my native language.

Minecraft, the lack of slabs and stairs that can be places sideways. Not asking for much, but come on, put them in the ful game already, it has only been 3 years since people made the mod.

Dark souls, that people who have run all over the map already can still come back and be twinked out only to pretty much spawn camp in the burg. Seriously, I know the game is suppose to be harsh, but put a balancer in exactly how much of an asshat people are allowed to be, especially early game. Seeing a jackass with a +15, pine resined weapon, a father's mask and maxed armor invading is just broken, and unneeded.

Borderlands 2, The assassin skins. Just... those damn assassin skins.

Oh, and because someone else mentioned it and I fully agree. Game audio. Seriously, I should be able to hear the character voices over the action, and the action over the god damn soundtrack. If you put voice in the game, let me hear it or don't bother. I hate getting a half snip before an explosion, though that can be understandable (they be loud after all). I don't accept that the swelling orchestra which should be setting the mood is somehow more important then the paid voice actors, and if so, just don't use them then.

Warning: Sports game talk incoming!

I really really wish there was a way for you to give up your QB when he's behind the line of scrimmage in Madden. You can tap X to have him slide when he's past the line but there are times where I attempt to scramble, get bottled up, and then either have to throw it away/run out of bounds (something I don't want to do if I'm trying to run out the clock) or have him get lit up and hope that he doesn't fumble (which he will).
Adding on to this, a way to throw the ball away in the general direction of a receiver would be nice. You know, throwing it deliberately into the receiver's feet knowing he's too well covered, but you're still in the pocket so you can't just chuck it out of bounds.

GTA V's lighting (on the 360 version at least, not sure about ps3.) any far off lights turn into awkward circle globes of "increase brightness" and you can't see fucking ANYTHING when you go underwater in the submarine. It's a shame because the submarine was one of the things that sold me on the game.

What's the matter with the Borderlands 2 Assassin skins? I thought they were fine.

I have very bright multicoloured hair. I wish I could recreate it in more games that allow you to customise your character. It's very petty, I know, but I wish my Siren could have cool blue/green/pink and purple spiky mohawk hair. Ah well.

Actually the circles are a simulation of the Bokeh blur effect, an effect that is more common in movies then games at the moment (and you know how games like to feel like movies).

Oh, sorry, I was talking about the skins that the 4 assassins in the Southpaw Power and Steam place drop. They have a drop rate of 1 in a million. I wasn't talking about Zero's skins, rather, any skin the Hyperion assassins are suppose to drop (but never do).

Borderlands 2, I wish I could choose what colour to use on every part of the character, not be restricted to pre-made skins. There are quite a few skins with very jarring colour choices, and it annoys me a lot, especially since it would be easier to make a palette and have the players choose rather than make the skins.

Gran Turismo 5.

That tarmac is too damn smooth.

It literally feels like I'm driving a cross between a hovercraft and a scalextrics car, no matter wether I'm on or off road.

In Pokemon X and Y, certain Pokemon are restricted to Horde battles, which means I can't chain them for the shiny form. Scraggy is the most painful example of this, because it's one of my favourite Pokemon, and has an AWESOME area for a potential chain. IN fact, it's probably the best grassy patch in the entire game.

Not to mention the inability to chain inside caves and such...being able to chain inside the friend safari would be nice, but I can see why they wouldn't allow it. But what irritates me about the cave thing, is that Gen 5 introduced "phenomenon" which is basically a shaking patch inside a cave, or on the water, there are patches of ground reminiscent of this idea present in the Lumiose Badands, if I remember the name correctly. My point is, if we used the Poke Radar in a cave or in the water, these special "phenomenon" should show up as a replacement for a shaking patch.

And then there's Pokemon like Skarmory who have awesome shiny forms that you have no choice to but to Masuda Method because they are only encountered by swooping...maybe I like shinies too much.

Any game where you can't jump. Zelda, Mass Effect, ect. It drive's me nuts to be able to run around, but not be able to jump in the air whenever I want. It's not even like I plan to jump around all over the place. It's just knowing that I Don't have the option that I hate.
The added annoyance with Zelda is that you can jump, the game just won't let you unless you hurl yourself of an edge. If they made it a contextual button prompt, like with Resident Evil 4, I wouldn't mind too much since it would atleast auto-aim you in the right direction. But in Zelda the camera position can often point you into the wrong direction as you're running to perform a jump.

...There isn't a body count stat? GTA IV may have had short-comings but it had an insane statistic screen. Every other open world game that allows murder should tell you how many people you have murdered, especially prototype wherein you're not just murdering people but (mostly) cannibalizing their corpses.

I started out trying to avoid killing civilians but considering I can do it entirely by accident pretty much all the time, I gave up... Then I started using them as ammunition(it takes a lot of civilians to kill a helicopter) on top of just being the easiest healthpacks.
It just occurred that while both the above posts make perfect sense to me, I would dearly love to see just how out of context they can be taken by Fox News. I'm actually seeing a Fox news anchor in my mind's eye with a report on video game violence, right now. :)

Being allowed to see where every player is on the map in Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer constantly. It's a relatively minor issue but it enables people to be arses and harass other players with minimal effort. I'd much prefer a plain map or a map that only shows those in your posse so that encounters with other "enemy" players can be a suprise instead of a constant all out war.

Mass Effect 3: Shepard is out there trying to literally save the lives of every advanced sentient being in the Galaxy... and yet she has to pay an insane amount of cash for the best weapons available. And for upgrades to those weapons. And for better armour. And for fuel. You would think that the galaxy would find a way to throw a couple million credits worth of stuff her way, ya know?

Let me name my saves, please. When a lot build up and you haven't played recently, it's a pain to figure out which one you want to use in certain games. Skyrim, for example. Oh, all my characters last saved in White Run. I have to mouse over them all to figure out which is my Orc/High Elf/Khajit etc.

Knee high barriers. Seriously guys, for a group of highly trained military man fighting to save the free world, being stopped on your tracks by a sofa is pretty pathetic.
