Super Paper Mario.
Although the platforming was great fun, it had nothing to do with the previous ones and I do not see how it could be classed as an rpg. There was way too much text and it only had a few rpg elements which were terrible.

Oblivion - Completely lacked any kind of character or charm. The only thing I liked about it was the music which is exceptional in places. For me the whole game suffered a lot from this uncanny valley creepyness.

Sorry 'bout that. :3
Just wondering if you completed the whole game. 'Cause I know it can get pretty grindy at some parts but the ending is worth it. Also, you might enjoy its sequel - Mother 3 - more.
I certainly did. I don't feel qualified to make a judgment like this until I've played something to the end. Only Sonic Heroes was bad enough that I didn't get to the end - I snapped the disc into several pieces and threw them across the room.

Anyway, it's the whole atmosphere that gets to me. The characters were annoying, the storyline was annoying, the dialogue...you see?

Oh yeah, and...Pokey Minch. The single most annoying character in the history of gaming.
Porkey (Pokey is a mistranslation) was meant to be annoying. :p
I don't really get why you found it annoying but whatever, your opinion. \o/

Two Worlds.

EDIT: "Oh no! It's The Taint!"
I hate Two Worlds, what a terrible game.

I feel like if someone says they hate JRPGs they are just copying Yahtzee... don't defend yourself, please, my opinion won't change.

I'm getting tired of basic turn-based rpgs tho... it's the same game done a dozen times and everyone loves it every time they release it the same time for twice the price >_>

Wow, you young whipper snappers have a very limited perspective on these things if I say so myself. You guys need to play some ollllld RPGs to really see the worst the genere has to offer.

Let's see, I'd probably have to say that the worst I've played is actually a two way tie between "Disciples of Steel" and "Spirit Of Adventure". As much as I wanted to like it "Fountain Of Dreams" was also pretty bad (and was something of a sequel to Wasteland
which makes it especially sad). Check out some abandonware sites and prepare to be amazed! The most recreational pain you can get without dating a dominatrix!

For a more recent game I played that I just didn't care for I'd have to say... Enchanted Arms.

Two Worlds was pretty bad, a few more months of polish and it would have rocked though. I found it tolerable and played it through to the end. It does have some neat moments, so I can't call it one of the worst of all time.

Baroque is a game that had a ton of potential, but I think was way too obtuse and repetitive even when you learned what you were supposed to do more or less.

Final Fantasy 8. From the plot to the characters to the gameplay mechanics (draw, draw, draw ARRG!), everything about that game is perfectly stupid.
What..you didn't like Triple Triade? :):p

(BTW, yes, I'm sure you've seen an even gayer character in another game, and would like to destroy my pedestal of gayness that I've set up for the Enchanted Arms fag.
Yes, I'm interested in seeing if you can one-up my chosen homo, just don't get all excited, like your going to make my day. You'll probably just creep me out)
I don't think it's physically possible to actually 'out-gay' that character without bending the laws of the universe or something. :D

I've explained him to a friend as 'on a scale of 1-10 of gay/campness, this character scores a 30'

I really wish i knew what the designers were thinking when they designed the game. it was so over the top even a gay (and very camp) friend of mine visibly cringed watching a video of some of the dialogue.
He actually dies not very long into the game, which made me cheer!

The game isn't actually that bad if you can make it though the first part without your brain dissolving

Anyway, i'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but my entry is for Star Ocean 4

I actually like the game a lot, but the whole "oh no! all the enemies in this game are somehow immune to gunfire, lets use swords/bows instead" is just hilarious and very stupid :D

I have a hatred for most western RPGs (in stark contrast to most posters here).

I find that JRPGs have (for the most part) far more interesting stories and characters, though sacrificing the ability to free roam, while western RPGs which sacrifice story and character development for the ability to free roam and kill whomever you want.

In fact, the only western RPG I remember liking is Betrayal at Krondor for the PC. The reason it had such a great story was because it was adapted from the work of Raymond Feist, which already had a rich mythology to take from.

Final Fantasy III (the real 3) and Golden Sun. Both were terribly boring, with no fun gameplay. They had more grinding than a deli, and both stories were AWFUL. Four "chosen heroes" who I don't give a rat's ass about have to overcome darkness etc. It's so trite and boring. But then again, this is the case with most RPGs.

Final Fantasy 8. No redeeming qualities what so ever, just an overall terrible experience that I would not wish upon my greatest enemy. Out of all the FF's I've played, nothing comes close to how bad this one is (although I have not played X-2). But to be more original in my constant railing of that same game, I'll have to sya the Elder Scrolls games....so...boring.
