Okami. This was probably mentioned a billion times but still. Breathtaking visuals and original gameplay, one of my favourite games and nothing (to me) has matched up to it.

Besides, playing a Sun goddess incarnated into a white wolf wielding a magical paintbrush is awesome to the max.

I NEVER got to play that game...... all of the copies were ALWAYS rented out before I could get to one. T_T

Steambot Chronicles for me. A surprisingly fun Atlas game that managed to incorperate mecha and guitar hero elements while offering a fairly decent sandbox.

I think I remember that one. It was a top down adventure/rpg in the style of the early Zeldas right? If that's the one it was awesome.


Anyway.

Alien Resurrection (PS1)
That thing is an underrated gem. It brought a fair few innovations to console FPS too (although most notable are dual stick controls and the motion trackertype radar, it pains me so much to hear idiots credit Halo with those).

What set it apart was the atmosphere and controls, it was the first FPS I played that used the controls we all refer to as standard nowadays. Theatmosphere on the other hand, was not standard at all, it was claustrophobic and relentless, it really got the feel of being trapped in a space ship full of cosmic horrors down to a tee.

It's just a shame everyone assumed it would be as bad as the movie, nevermind.

3. Columns (Genesis) for proving there were better ways to play Tetris-like games a decade before PopCap and iWin ever existed.

Columns was under appreciated? Had me fooled, what with the original release, and release on both the Genesis Sega Collection and the PC Sega Collection.

No one has ever heard of Shadowrun... And even less actually play it, but I reckon it's brilliant. 100% combat game that has loud guns and magic aspects adding to the gameplay, other games have magic and guns but this does it so well. The most underated game I have ever played.

Couldn't agree more about Legend of Dragoon. It's what got me into JRPG's in the first place.
