Jet Set Radio, great game but most people thought it was a skating version of Tony Hawk.

Portal

Now before you go "are you fucking stupid that game is overrated" let me explain.

Indeed, Portal has been spread all across the internet. But here's the thing, nobody talks about Portal. They only talk about the jokes in Portal. In most cases, people only refer to Portal to spew "The cake is a lie" and "Still Alive" bullshit. Meanwhile, the actual game is neglected. Qualities such as it's puzzle mechanics and sound track (aside form the aforementioned Still Alive) are overlooked in favor of spewing more unfunny memes.

No one has ever heard of Shadowrun... And even less actually play it, but I reckon it's brilliant. 100% combat game that has loud guns and magic aspects adding to the gameplay, other games have magic and guns but this does it so well. The most underated game I have ever played.
This, I played it relentlessly for a couple of months. It's such a shame that the developers went bust, meaning the game wouldn't get any extra content.

Dragon Quest VIII

Im the only person I know who had that game and I absolutely fell in love with it.

I really liked how it extended the gameplay to give it that extra bit of play time. Exactly like Pokemon Gold (BEST GAME EVER).

I don't see many people who remember the Tomba! series. Tomba! and Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return are two of the BEST games I have EVER played.
Yes, tomba was an amazing game. I would love to dig up and dust of my ps1 just for this.
You know you can play it on an Emulator, right?
:O
Woot! That game was a key part of my childhood.

Call of Duty and Call of Duty United Offensive on the PC. They were reviewed very favorably, and I'm sure many of you have played it, but the only person i know who has even played them (in my personal life) is my cousin. Most of my friends started on CoD2 on the Xbox, so they have no idea how great the original was. It's a shame since they paved the way (in my opinion) for the shooters we have nowadays. Best iron sights and hit boxes in a games, also had the most fun multi-player modes.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. This game was fun, fast, colourful and explody. It had funny characters and a neat plot, and you played as a robot! It was one of my favourite games, and it ended in a cliffhanger, but for some reason no sequel was ever made. I'd like to see that so much. MAKE A SEQUEL!

Wasn't that the game that let PC users play against 360 users?

As for under-appreciated games: Beyond Good & Evil, Okami, and Psychonauts.

Beyond Good & Evil. No one seems to know about it yet it's so amazing.

I might replay it actually.
This. Testify, this game flew way under the radar and then was forgotten by everyone.
I still like it, and I introduced it to a couple of friends.

My vote goes to Evil Genius, it was well-recieved but poorly marketed, like BG&E

3. Columns (Genesis) for proving there were better ways to play Tetris-like games a decade before PopCap and iWin ever existed.
Columns was under appreciated? Had me fooled, what with the original release, and release on both the Genesis Sega Collection and the PC Sega Collection.
Heh, yeah Sega is proud of it, which is why they gave it away with the Genesis, and a lot of people own it without ever even trying it out, sort of like Spider Solitaire which comes with Windows and is another under-appreciated game.

Oh hell, forgot another really under-appreciated game. Majesty. A truly unique and awesome game most overlook as just another RTS, which it really isn't. Plays more like Populous than anything else, having no actual control over any unit, just the ability to sway thier actions with bribery (rewards.) That's why they classified it as a kingdom simulation instead of a strategy game.

I think the "Search Button" is the most unappreciated game of all time
and with an all star cast such as

"Stop being lazy" and "stop using the same topic because its obvious that someone had used it before" you cant go wrong

Another vote for Primal for me, a great game, great graphics, great voice acting...

And not to mention one of the best soundtracks to a game i have ever played... 16 Volt rule!
