I'd have to say for me it would be Stronghold, I spent hours in that game just using the sandbox editor building towns, selling goods and growing crops and found it really fun. I found it quite therapeutic to stop killing computer sprites and instead care for my townspeople. Although only being a small part of the game it was like a Medieval Sims City and I loved it

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Possibly the greatest 3d sonic games out there (though there isn't much competition) but people always seem to forget this one.

The TimeSplitters series (namely 2 and Future Perfect), my favourite FPS' of all time and yet 99% of all people I talk to have never heard of them. To say that Halo was the FPS that revolutionised the genre is a lie, it was the original TimeSplitters :p

[HEADING=1]IT HASN'T CHANGED DECADES[/HEADING]
We're in the second year of our current decade, 2010-2020. The last decade ended 367 days, 2 hours and 4 minutes ago (using British timezone).
[HEADING=2]2011 is not the start of a new decade.[/HEADING]
I'm sick of this swarm of "x game of the decade" threads like it's just ended. Ignorance really rubs me up the wrong way.
Sorry, and thank you.
[/rant]

OT:
I thought Star Wars Episode 3 was fun.
But then I'm a sucker for messing with the canon and slicing body parts off Storm Clone Troopers.
EDIT:
HOW COULD I HAVE FORGOTTEN OKAMI?

I would say HALO, the forefather to the modern FPS.

On a less trollish note I would say The Darkness or Tribes 2

Well, an easy solution for you is to go back in time and inform everyone one year ago.

OP: Red Faction: Guerrilla, no doubt about it.

X3... while not exactly the best space sim in existence it is the only one to cross over to "next gen" (that term seems to have lost weight)and it did it fairly well.

If there was a chance of the good ol space sim genre getting a reboot, it was through this... it didn't :(
I fucking *love* the X series, all the way from BTF to Terran Conflict, every game was a god damn masterpiece, even if they were horribly broken and even though the plot lines were more bug ridden than an ant farm at times, I adore those games, I've sunk at least 150 hours into each title and Terran Conflict still holds my attention brilliantly.

So yeah, I would have to say X3 Reunion and Terran Conflict, best games no one played.

Ok I'm going to need to assemble a flame shield pretty rapidly I'm sure but I'm willing to take that risk as I say "Command and Conquer 4", while it was obviously hindered by being part of the CnC franchise it really, really didnt deserve the cold reception it got, if you take it on its own merits it did something more unique with RTS's, it was a bold move and a brave choice and it didnt get the reception it deserved because of it, instead people complained that it wasnt like all the others which is sad really because its a very enjoyable RTS we have there that no one likes on principle.

An honorable mention goes to Alan Wake, it finaly came out and people seemed to just pass over it, missing the opportunity to see a game with decent story telling for once, even if the ending was weak in my opinion, even if you play the DLC aswell.

I thought Metro 2033 way way too underrated. Untill i came to the Escapist forums. I've seen a lot of love for it :)

The Saboteur imo. It received mediocre reception at best but i thought it was quite brilliant
Yeah, the Saboteur was awesome! (Apart from Sean Devlin's accent) It should have been so much more famous. And now Pandemic is closed down i don't think there will be a sequel :(

I'm pretty sure 2011 is the start of the new decade. I'm just going to say what was already said in some threads I read a few days ago but, Year 1 was the first year in the first decade, therefore 2011 is the first year in this decade.
Sorry for my ignorance though :)

I'll start by nominating Age of Mythology, completely overlooked in favor of the Age of Empires and Starcraft franchises, even though it was gorgeous, had a wonderfully-designed campaign, had four unique, customizable races, and let you use divine wrath against your enemies.
I... I love you. Age of Mythology was fantastic. What it needs is a sequel/expansion/whatever with better graphics (optional), more units and technologies, but most importantly new civilizations like Japan, Persia, the Aztecs/Mayans, etc. If that was ever made, the developers would win the internet infinitely many times over.

OT: There's Psychonauts, but also AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity. It's fun, very well-crafted, and one of the most genuinely exciting and heart-stopping games I've played. I would also say Canabalt for similar reasons, but I think that it already has a decent following. Still, check it out if you haven't.

I subscribe to the school that says that the first century and first millennium started at the beginning of the year 1; the current millennium started in 2001. By my logic, the first decade of the millennium ended yesterday, after ten years and ended yesterday. I remember at the end of '09 there were a lot of posts along the lines of "the decade doesn't end for another year!" Thus:

[HEADING=1]THERE IS NO TRUE CONSENSUS OVER WHEN THIS DECADE ENDED, SO MY JUDGMENT ON THE MATTER IS AS GOOD AS ANY[/HEADING]

So why do we treat centuries and millenia as the "0" being the first year in that century?
Surely if that logic held true - year 1 being the first year in the first century - 2001 would be the first year in the twenty-first century, and the new millenium, not 2000?

Dates should either stick to proper logic, or stick to their own absurd logic... No mixing. Makes me confused. :(

Good point well made.
