I'm mostly out: the Wii is all the 'motion' I need for games. The Playstation and 360 versions are trying to get into an established market with the same idea, but a lot more costly.

I'm no financial wizard, but from the general reaction of the gaming community I've not seen a single person say "I'm totally hyped for this!"
No you just have a large concentration of haters on this forum (what happened to this site, its gotten so hate filled past few months), people that are having fun with these systems are too busy to join in on these little bitchfests
This view wasn't based merely off of the internet. Not a single person I've asked has shown any interest in motion-controlled games other than the Wii, whether I ask them the question in the flesh or across the internet.

Don't get me wrong, I don't wish to '*****' about the Wii since I have little experience of it compared to other consoles. That said, I've not played a single game on it which I felt was enriched by motion controls outside of the so-called 'casual' games. Mario, for instance, is the flagship of the Nintendo franchise and yet I felt the two Galaxy games would have handled a lot better if I didn't have to flick my wrist every time I wanted to spin rather than just use a button or trigger.

I enjoy some Wii games, but every single time I get into a Wii game all I can think of is "why did I throw my Gamecube controllers away"? Motion controls will only work with games specifically tailored to them; so far that has been a series of 'casual' games which seem to be slowly running out of ideas. Maybe someone will come along and revolutionise motion-controlled games soon, but if it is done I imagine it will be done for the Wii, on the Wii.

EDIT - Amendment timez!

Actually, what I mean to say is that I'm all for progression in the right direction when it comes to motion controls. I just think the direction we're headed now isn't it. Motion control = closest we've come to virtual reality, and I don't think a single person here think VR games isn't pants-wettingly awesome.

Not interested.
If I were to get a Kinect as a gift, I would keep it, and maybe use it, but it's not something I'd go out and buy myself.
I prefer to have more "solid" control, such as a controller, joystick, or steering wheel.

Move > Kinect, I saw this guy playing Harry Potter using the Kinect and he struggled so much, even the EA representative had trouble. It goes to show that even in motion controls, you still need buttons, and at least one control stick to move around, the motion controller should be used for looking around.

Move works very well with MAG, I know, cuz I've got it setup in my living room.

I started off on a rant, but I'll keep it simple: out. Boy, am I ever out. And I salute the fallen gaming companies who will lose out on their chance to publish games because of higher casual gaming demand.

Out. Emphatically out. I game to unwind, and swinging my arms around like an idiot is not my idea of relaxation. Hopefully, the catastrophic financial failure of the Kinect/Move will convince game developers that the Wii was, in fact, a one-hit wonder, and that motion controls are not worth pursuing.

It has potential to be a lot better, however at the moment the games involved in Motion Control and how it is used at the moment doesn't really interest me. You guys should take a look at Baby Tea's Podcast's on his blog!

It depends, really.
For something like Tiger Woods Golf - I'm in. It just feels so much better to 'swing' the club as opposed to the click-click-click of the past. For the same reason, something like No More Heroes (which I haven't picked up yet) seems like a good fit.

For other genres, it just makes no sense - developers *really* need to stop and think about how and why they will use motion controls in their games, and not just put them in because it's the latest and greatest thing.

They have yet to work properly for any game I care about and I don't have the space to really get the most out of them. I think their main problems are that the technology isn't quite there yet and developers have no idea what to do with them, so they just wreck otherwise conventional games by forcing an incompatible control scheme into them.

I'm out. I think it's just stupid of microsoft and sony to start making these motion-thingy's. I know they make heckloads of money by making these but still. Wii did it frist and I think that they who wanted motion contro already have Wii. And the amount of sportgames...I mean if you want to move and get fit, don't do it in your living room. Go out, start a hobby or something. Of course people don't have time now and that bullshit but hey it's not meant to be easy. I think playing Wii is great fun sometimes but motion controls just aren't for me. At least not yet....

I know what you mean. You aren't the only one bothered by it.

I am only quoting you because of how you phrased it and the most recent to post.
This is why I believe people are so against the idea of motion gaming. We aren't use to having to move and flail about to control characters, and new things scare people. Nintendo has done some nice things with the motion controller and they keep building upon it, given time the other studios will know what they are doing and how to do it properly. Besides, with all of the jumping jacks needed to power the Kinect (much less use it) we can probably shed the fat stereotype.

I have nothing with motion controls right now. I only own a 360 and right kinect has failed to impress me. I really don't see how the technology can be integrated into a game because there is not too many avenues of control. I don't see how Microsoft will be able to implement any game with shooting or using tools without buttons of any kind and that thing is hella expensive $150 for the kinect plus another $60 to play with a pet tiger or dance around my room. Not happening. The Wii is alright. I tried before and it was kind of fun, but I don't see any lasting appeal in it so I didn't buy one. The PS Move is probably the most blatant copy in the world and I don't see it selling to well because most of the PS3 audience has no interest in the Wii, so why would they want a copy? I would say my favorite of the 3 is the Wii, but quite honestly I am not high on motion controls and would just prefer a traditional controller. That being said the Wii has the most fun games released on it, but it is not much of a contest since the wii had a couple years of a head start.

First of all, I see the potential for them, but frankly, they're not ready. When both 3D and them are completely fine tuned and released together (interactable holograms) then I'll be all over it.

I've played the wii and used the PS3's sixaxis and with the exception of Flower (which I don't consider a game as much as a zen state or a sort of simulation), non of the games I've played were made all the better with the controls incorporating motion control. Even Heavy Rain felt a bit weird when I had to use the sixaxis.

Which do I prefer? Kinect is the closest so far towards those sort of Ironman 3D objects that I can think of, so I'd say that, but presently I'd say the Move just from the small amount I've played of it.

In addition, I'd think Kinect could be useful in more than just motion controlly gimmicks. Think of it being used as a substitute for a mouse, opening up consoles to games they haven't been able to port yet, or used like some of the DS touch screen controls (yes switching back and forth is a pain, but RPGs and adventure games really benefit from me being able to use the stylus rather than a predetermined pointer). You could also have a solution to the whole pain of included DLC by having it scan the object containing the code rather than you having to write out the long 16 or so key.

However, I still say motion controls need a lot more polish. The Wii's controller is worse than the gamecube (come to think of it, Nintendo has a little bit of a problem with this) and the processing power is embarrassing. The Move has similar controller problems to nintendo (yes the controller is different, but it still feels wrong), and the Sixaxis is at most a gimmick. Kinect though probably has the worst, given that it has all the bugs talked about on this site, as well as no feedback possibility at all. So my decision is that I'm going to see what the future here is, neither opposing nor supporting this generation of motion controls.

Out, I was ok with just the Wii but it seems that all other consoles are jumping on a bandwagon so late that the band has finished three sellout world tours and have sold their wagon to a scrap dealer...

For the forseeable future... I'm out of the motion era. There are so few games that utilize it well.. And the few fun games that do incorporate it, would have done just as well, if not better in many cases on a old fashioned controller...

That's not to say that I'll never switch over.. Just not at the moment..

Well I like real games, which is not what these controllers are intended for, so none for me.

But it is a great party gimmick
