I try to help you and you call me that...

I should never have bothered, knowing I'd get ungrateful insults in return.
When did I ask for help? Also if you're trying helping someone you don't act condescending about it, not to mention at every turn you're practically insulting me thinking I'm download crap off shady sites and how installing a patch is above my level.
when you previously said:

That's not even half of the things I did to my PC, you would cringe in horror at the things I did and I know I'm not at the level to be doing those things.
I don't think you have any right to be insulted from being educated on what you admit you don't know enough about and are above your level. I haven't insulted you, I've spun this bad situation in the best possible way to preserve your pride.

When did I ask for help?
when you said this.

It's not that I didn't want to update, my windows update disappeared so I couldn't and I have no idea how to fix it.
You're telling me your problem and elaborating that you don't know what to do, who does that then reacts angrily when help is offered.

My preferences with game genre combined with multi-platform AAA releases and indies being primarily on smartphone or PC means I can get by as (only) a member of the Glorious Master Race. Seriously since I had to dump my PS2 in uni I've missed maybe 2 games on console that I really regret. Then a couple of console exclusive series started, and consequently if they were successful got ported anyway. So I missed Assassin's Creed and Gears of War, but if I really wanted to I could get some/all of them on PC now.

Solution: No consoles (muahaha)

No the horror would be editing the registry and using the command prompt to create services, which I will admit is above my level. A patch is not above anyone's level if they can read.

Because you haven't paid attention to the entire conversation.

As for my PC issues there is a giant clusterfuck of a story behind how that happened (and other weird things), I'm just going wipe everything and start fresh. If you're wondering it was the effect of my trying to fix my missing Windows Update service (which I did get working).
I said I have no idea, because even though I wouldn't be able to do it again without another 3 hours of googling and like I said even though I got that working got different, which is probably because I was attempting something above my level, creating a missing service. If you want to say I asked for help, I asked for help with a svchost.exe memory leak and me fixing the missing windows update was the cause of it.

Not to mention I already said I'd be resetting everything so you didn't give me any new advice and continue to act like I don't know anything.

Software updates are pretty standard on anything these days, including consoles lol. I've been told by many people how much of a pain it is when the PS3 gets a firmware update.
I have a couple of PCs that I think it is Steam trying to update my video drivers. I either click "no" or, in windows hide update. Something of which to be weary. Those updates broke my machine till uninstalled every time.

Also, I still don't get what you mean by not being able to play games offline.
Buddy of mine says he couldn't play Portal offline. I have the Spellforce series and others that require logins to WiiU and Xbox Live: those need a connection and no firewall blocking. I don't think things like Saints Row the Third has anything like that. I'll have to try playing it offline just for grins, see what happens. I may just get a message reading it can't upload or download to the "cloud" which is fine.

I do have STEAM and games installed on multiple machines. If I leave one on, online, and logged into Steam but have gone to a 2nd machine for some reason to play there instead (happens, especially when my daughter needs my super computer for her homework) all that happens is the first machine logs off and I can play just fine on the 2nd computer.

It is an amazing, cheap service. I hope this is affordable or that the PS4 has a similar capability of streaming PC games:

Have you heard of this? Interested? J-e-f-f-e-r-s makes a lot of good points about the android consoles splintering users with constant updates, but this should be good for awhile as its best part depends on what PC quality you are streaming from.
