Hello, I?m not sure if this topic has been done here before, but I did a search and found nothing. My question is this: If you were designing the next World of Warcraft expansion, what would you do/What would you like to see in the next expansion. My answer:

Races and special classes for a new, playable, neutral faction:

New Races:

Furbolgs
http://www.wowwiki.com/Furbolg
Racial Bonuses: 1. Always has the ?rested? buff 2. Can use multiple ?Find node? abilities at once 3. Can have 3 professions

Centaur
http://www.wowwiki.com/Centaur
Racial Bonuses: 1. Constant 60% movement speed bonus 2. Gains ability to sprout wings and fly at level 70 3. (drawback) Can ride no mounts (including the epic ground or flying mounts).

Pandaran
http://www.wowwiki.com/Pandaren
Racial Bonuses: 1. Gains random buffs while drunk (a new buff is added for each level of drunkenness achieved, increasing in power at each stage) 2. Brewing level caps raised by 10 3. No level requirements for special alcoholic drinks

Goblins
http://www.wowwiki.com/Goblins
Racial Bonuses: 1. Discounts on vendor prices/increased vendor sale prices 2. Gain reputation faster than other races 3. No auction house cuts

Murlocs
http://www.wowwiki.com/Murloc
Racial Bonuses: 1.Fishing skill caps raised by 10 2.No speed reduction while swimming 3.Unlimited Breath underwater 4. Health regenerates while underwater

New Classes:

Courier: CC (Crowd Control)
Brief Description: Has many CC spells and debuffs (stun, immobilize, ect.), and also has many speed enhancing buffs and talents for itself and its allies. All bags equipped to this character gain an additional 4 slots, starting backpack has 25 slots. Able to use daggers, one handed swords/axes, and thrown weapons, Cannot duel wield. Can only wear cloth

Trader: Tank
Brief Description: Has many abilities to draw aggro, can heal itself by consuming items or equipment (level requirements, armor value, and rarity determine the amount of healing done), can function as a portable vendor for the party (Party can sell stuff to it, and buy basic supplies, but it cannot buy/sell to/from itself). Can use two handed maces, staves, and guns. May wear cloth, leather, or (at level 40) mail.

Bard: Tank/DPS/CC
Brief Description: May use magic wands, but no other weapons. Has bonuses to unarmed skill available through spells and talents, has many channeled charm and stun spells (music) that charge a ?Focus? bar, as the bar fills, the Bard gains exponentially more aggro, the Bard can use focus in a similar way to Runic power, for certain abilities, mainly damaging ones. Can ?Befriend? certain NPC humanoids in the same manner as hunter pets, and can name them. Learns new language skills by ?hearing? them in chat (can eventually use the channel once the skill reaches maximum). Can only wear cloth

Mercenary: Tank/DPS (meant mostly for Pvp)
Brief description: Similar play style to the warrior/paladin. May use all weapons and armor except magic wands, gains extra money/honor/marks from quest rewards, looting, killing players/NPCs, and battlegrounds, but gains half the reputation for any of these actions. 2.5 minute exit time for PVP. May change sides of a battleground once per battle, mid-battle.

(Note: This faction would only be available to players who had at least one level 20 or high character on the realm. The neutral characters would start at level 10. Only one neutral character per player per realm. Neutral characters may join in battlegrounds from either side, but [with the exception of the Mercenary] must stay on their chosen side till the end of the battle. While flagged for Pvp, they can be attacked by either side. On pvp servers, neutral characters may go unflagged into either sides territory, and remain unflagged in neutral territory unless they choose to flag themselves by choice or by attacking/assisting a flagged player. They can switch between Orcish and Common and can gain reputation with wither side without loosing rep with the other.)

New Professions:

Brewing: Allows the mixing of alcoholic beverages, however, the batches must ?ferment? over time before they can provide more benefits. Drinking certain beverages has a chance to increase skill.

Husbandry: Taming ?critters? and other animals to create small-pets, can combine small pets to form rarer ones. Higher levels can name small pets at the request of players.

General:

Level cap raised to 90 (duh)

Ability to share maps with other players at a kind of ?Map table? located in major cities, players can sketch or draw on the map to indicate tactics or other things. Can also make copies of the current sketch and map that can be handed out to everyone in a group or to random people.

And?that?s about it. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Comments? Ideas of your own? I?d love to hear any of the above.

Centaur would be horribly broken with movement speed +60%
EDIT: I mean really really cheap ass in BGs
I'd just like a lvl 60 server.

None of those races makes sense.

Too many new classes, its already hard to implement one.

Well, it sounds a bit interesting, I'll give you that. My guild master thinks that next expansion will add Goblins to the Horde and Panderans to The Alliance.
No offense meant but your class ideas don't really sound like they'd work that well...

I've heard things. Apparently the next expansion will be called the Emerald Dream, and it'll introduce a new hero class; The Demonhunter.
As the lore goes, Demonhunter's were primarily Night Elves for years, but they've branched across to other races, particularly Blood Elves. These demonic fighters have decided that the best way to fight the Burning Legion is to use their demonic powers against them, and so made pacts which removed their regular sight and replaced it with a sort of spectral vision in which anything demonic glows with a burning white light. They wear strips of cloth over where their eyes used to be, similar to the sort that some Night Elves wear.

There ye go :)

Sorry, but read below.

But Blizzard are never going to do Pandaren for legal reasons. The Chinese Government don't want 11 million people beating the shit out of their national animal.

Yeah... I'd prefer they fix all the broken stuff with the CURRENT classes FIRST, then try to introduce a new one.

Honestly though, I'm reasonably certain that anything past this point will venture into new IP territory because we've exhausted most of the Warcraft Lore with the Lich King. I suppose you could do something with the Emerald stuff or the Argent Dawn, but I'm thinking they'll find a way to use the Caverns of Time and take us BACK to some sort of prequel, such as the rise of the Scourge and the Burning legion.

A couple of new races would be cool such as the Pandarans for the Horde, but honestly I've cut down enough furlbogs, murlocs, and centaurs that I have no interest in seeing them turned into playable races. Maybe the Naga perhaps but thats pushing it.

Races -

Furbolgs racial bonuses are really weak, slightly more money and faster leveling would mean little to nothing at level cap. As far as a "casual" race would go I guess it would be nice, but eventually most people still hit level cap.

Those centaur racials are pretty similar to how taurens were early on in developement, they had the plainsrunning ability that was the equivalent of mounts because there were no mounts they could ride, they also have massive draw backs because they don't have any solid pve or pvp racials.

Pandarens sound like a fun race, but since being drunk almost entirely hinders actual gameplay, that's why it sounds more of a joke race than a real race. A real racial would be something like "Drunken Panda Rage: Increases movement speed by 30% for 10 seconds" or "Increases damage done by 10% for 15 seconds" and you would have the drunken effect for the time.

Again, Goblin racials suck. Slight boost in random money and the human reputation increase. Nothing solid for either pve or pvp.

Murlocs unlimited breath sounds worthless to me, possibly because I play undead and can already breathe underwater for 10 minutes. Ive never found myself underwater for that long anyway to warrent an entire racial based around it. Plus healing in water has very limited use unless they added a ton of water raids/dungeons and whatnot.

All in all the races seem too weak and I doubt many people would play them besides just to toy with, they probably wouldn't ever really catch on because they're ultra gimp.

Classes - Too vague to really comment, and adding even one new class as said before can change the game completely in pvp, which would create some serious balancing issues.

For the Emerald Dream I'd expect, for races-

Dragonkin(very iffy), Keepers,Dryads/Centaur (Movement problems),Furbolg (likely if they include races)

That's about it actually...

Hero Classes could be-

Demonhunter, Spiritwalker (like a Druid/shaman sort of thing that wears cloth and can go incorporeal)

Why can the Centaur sprout wings and fly...? That makes no sense at all.
I wouldn't mind having Furbolgs as a playable race. Hell, I could take them more seriously than say, GNOMES.
Your Goblin racial traits make sense, giving that Goblins were basically a bartering race.

Husbandry...yeah, ok. Combining pets to form rarer ones? No. It doesn't work like that. Trying to combine pets does not make rarer ones, it makes them angry.

Unfortunately it seems like they combined the necromancer and the Death Knight... I mean, do we really need another ghoul-raising class?

That's quite a wishlist, and I'm sure some of it would be fun, but a lot of it also goes directly against the Blizzard policy of wasting as much player time as possible... hence it would never see the light of day, unless of course they get tired of taking people's money and leaving the "entertainment" aspect of the deal implied, but never actually shown.

Always wanted to play as a Pandarens when I played WoW. But to be honest, I don't think a totally new faction would work, especially early on. I know what I'd do if I was horde or alliance in that situation (AKA, it's time for stewed noob murlock)

Personally I would like to see Pandaren's join Alliance and Murlocks on the Horde (I think they'd have to be an advanced species of murlock, with a different body shape and larger brain, get ride of the dumb look on his face and replace it with a more intelligent look). They are both very iconic races. Murlocks are one of WoWs best known races and people have been asking for Pandanas for god knows how long. Plus, Pandanas could open the door way for samurai and ninja classes *does a little jig*

Centaurs simply wouldn't work, mostly because of the whole mount thing. I would like Goblins but they're too similar to Gnomes in my opinion. And Furbolgs just aren't that great.

One thing I will say is I wish they'd stop raising the level cap, it's one of the many reasons I left. Expand outwards, stop just making it more and more daunting for noobys. Create new areas for everyone, Not just level 130s or whatever. Create and entirely new continent and a whole new area to level in, including dungeons ect.

The Arrakoa and those walrus-like people are also good contenders; they already have their own architectural styles, and they've been modelled in armour. And they have their own languages.

Judging by the number left alive they do a good enough job of that themselves.
