As I am new, I might aswell make my first post in a list thread. Long time lurker though, but it was about time i guess. Hi all *wave*
I'm an oldschool gamer and perhaps some of these games are seen through the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia. Anyways, here it goes:
1. The Last Ninja (Commedore 64). A truly revolutinary game on release. Won every award available at the time. Loading the game on a magnetic tape was no fun but well worth the wait. I was THE standard of gaming for many years.
2. "Quest" series. (PC). Spacequest, Kingsquest etc. Adventure gaming at its best.
3. Giana Sisters (Amiga 1000 & 500) Basicly a Mario clone, but it was dark and gritty with a psycadelic soundtrack. All good.
4. Castle Wolfenstein (92') Generally considered to have popularized FPS. I played it on the good 'ol Apple II. Had never seen anything remotely like it and tons of hours was spent in the lifegiving glow of the 13" screen.
5. Ratchet & Clank series. When in doubt, bring bigger guns.
6. Dark Age of Camelot. My first contact with MMOs. And i still think the mordern ones can learn from its PvP system. Riddled with bugs and suffering from connection problems (I heard it was sorted later) but a fantastic community.
7. Mass Effect & Dragon Age - yeh im a RPG junkie. (Any ideas how i can convice my GF that my D&D - 1st Editon is actually art and should be framed and displayed is recived graciously).
These are the ones that have stuck in my mind and list of honorable mentions are far to long so I'll just skip it.

Call me crazy but I just never got into Bioware's body of work...or RPGs in general apart from those three Bethesda efforts (plus Mount&Blade, but that's not really an RPG) in my top ten.nikki191 said:

Add to that lots of old Nintendo stuff, the works of Valve, and Bioshock and you essentially have my top list. I have general apathy/major boredom for FPSes other than Valve's and Bioshock (although I have yet to play System Shock 2), and I haven't liked WRPGs I've played in the past, although I'm going to play Mass Effect because everyone and their dog's praise for it has convinced me to. Also, I'm about to try out JRPGs, which I haven't played much of. I hope I like them, I really need more genres to feed off of.
