Okay, so this might come as a shocker to some of the other Oblivion fans out there, but to be honest, i have never once in my entire career of playing Oblivion have i used the fast travel system. I personally feel like im cheating and its takes away from the escapism and immersion. I've always bought a black or white horse, depending one weather im playing a good or bad character.

So i was just wondering, is there anybody else out there that feels the same way i do, and doesn't bother to use the fast travel system?

Eh, It kind of does cheat you however I grew bored of the whole same landscape. I made a vow to not use the fast travel system in skyrim though.

I agree with you. I am a huge fan of Morrowind (easily my favorite game of all-time). One of my favorite aspects of Morrowind was the sheer size of everything. You could feel like you were miles away from the closest major city, with no shortcut of getting there but walking. It made you think and plan your journeys more. Fast travel really kills this immersion for me. I also don't use it.

I used it for my first couple of playthroughs, but then I just started walking everywhere to challenge myself.

I don't use it much anymore.

I ride my white horse on all new characters. Shadowmere is too far into the DB questline for new characters to bother. Not as fast as a Black horse, but White has the most health.

I once did a playthrough where I never once used it. That wasn't fun, not fun at all.

I did my first playthrough (the main quests only) without using it.
Why?
I didn't know you could.
I wish I read the tips and such about it.

A ton of people don't use it. There's even mods on the TES Nexus which, rather than being the usual shit ton of porn, will disable your fast travel system, incase you get a little antsy and feel you need to use it.
Personally, the horses feel stupid and i can never be bothered walking, so i use the fast travel system any chance i can get.

Most of the time I didn't use it. The only times I would use it was for some of the main quests. The other times I felt like enjoying the huge and beautiful landscape.

I don't use it. Because its cheating. And if you use it, you're a cheater and should feel bad about yourself.

It depends on what kind of mood I'm in to be honest, if I'm feeling lazy then I fast travel or if I need to sell some stuff then I normally fast travel to the Imperial City to sell things. Between cities I normally fast travel but if I want to go to a cave or shrine or fort out in the middle of nowhere I usually run there, jumping all the way because it makes me feel like I'm going faster.
I do try not to use it but for journeys I've made many times before I tend to use it, particularly when going to the Imperial City.

There needs to be some kind of balance. I for one abused the boots of blinding speed in morrowwind-- at first blind, but then I made them a permanent fixture by making myself immune to blindness prior to equipping them. The quick recall spells were the only thing that made the endless fetch quests doable.

However, there was never any strategy needed for oblivion. And the autoleveling bandits with full daedric armor was silly, so i did use fast travel rather frequently.

I'd like to see some kind of happy balance in skyrim.

I never haven't not used fast travel in Oblivion I prefered how it worked in Morrowind. I didn't use it for a playthrough of Fallout 3.

the fast travel system completely ruined a lot of the game, but after a while I would get bored of seeing the samey landscape, relent and use the fast travel system, I just don't have the patients not to.

I use it. I have played that game sooo much. Did every quest and saw every single fucking tree. Walking all the way from Bruma to Leyhawin every time is just crazy.

But hey, whatever turns you on right?

I wouldn't have been able to stick with Oblivion as long as I did if I hadn't used fast travel.
