Thought I'd knock this up in between ad breaks.

Damn, they've some budget to play with now.

No spoilers please, some countries won't have seen it yet.

Yep, just watched the first new episode, too :) I thought it was pretty good and...

damn is that new Hologram hot! Might just be her accent that does it for me

Seems a bit weird without the canned laughter, which is odd because that's usually the thing that makes me hate comedies.

I think first I need to catch up with the original series, before jumping through hoops to catch the new episodes.

Ah, next proper episode is tomorrow. It's a little shaky to start with but then it soon gets going.

Chris Barrie's hair is definitely on the run though. And I do like zose Husky Russian Ladies.

I was just about to start this thread!

Anyways, seriously, part one was... simply ABSOLOUTLY FUCKING SHITTING BOLLOCKSEY CRAPDABYDOSEY. How dare they ruin a show I have loved for as long as I can remember (I was watching it at 4 years old).

I actually looked FORWARD to the ads, that's how bored I was.

It was good, but it was too slow. No doubt this will improve with the next episode, though.

For me, there was way too much CG, but then that was always going to be the case, so I can't really complain too much. I also miss the studio audience/ canned laughter/ whatever you want to call it.

Having Rimmer reading "Astro Navigation for Idiots" was a nice touch, though.

So far so good.

Lets see what happens when they reach Coronation Street. It could go either way.

Massive dissapointment, they really should just bury some things rather than keep digging them up again and again. (Well series 7 1/2 was a good place to stop.)

Well I thought the first half of the episode seemed to be a tad forced but after the whole incident with the diving bell the episode seemed to slip quite nicely in to atypical dwarf banter. I dunno if I like the fact that they totally skipped over the events at the end of series 8. I guess it avoids a lot of difficult questions.... oh and no Holly and I notice the new Hologram lady nicely skipped over answering the whole why are their two holograms and why are they both hard light.

Just as funny as series 7 & 8 i.e. not.

EDIT: At least they are showing a bunch of the old series with it. ROFL @ holovirus

Thought it was ok, had some funny moments, but I found it was missing that certain something, but I can't put my finger on it. Also, I would have liked it alot more if they had used less money on the CGI and making Red Dwarf look so futuristic and used the money to hire Norman Lovett again.

I think that they spent far too long setting each joke up, for example: the ironing joke at the begining (I won't describe it any further than that for those who haven't seen it yet) could have been half as long and would have been funnier as a result (it was obvious that a joke was coming since they kept circling the same small phenomenon in greater and greater detail for no apparant reason).

It was alright but it didn't have the same 'feel' or 'atmosphere' that the old Red Dwarf's had (the cheesy effects and sets/props, due to the low budget, gave it a lot of charm and gave it a distinct look and feel, now that some of the stuff looks shiney and good it's lost that unique vibe it once had).

I enjoyed it. I thought for a show that is being forced and expected to live up to so much, it held its own while not compromising(sp) the story, which i thought was engaging, if not a little more serious that many of the previous episodes.

Also I quite like how Dave has renamed itself Dave Lister.

I have it recorded on Sky+, watching it when my parents relinquish control of the remote and go to bed... yeeeee! I'll edit a reaction into this post when I've seen it.

Agree with those saying the canned laughter is missed but I didn't dislike it, seemed more of a setup episode to get reaquainted with the people, most likely for those that never had even seen a single Red Dwarf so I forgive it a bit. Hopefully the next episode is a bit better though or I will be disappointed. Still.. glad it's back.. woot!
