Star Trek: Bridge Commander (2002)

One of the most heavily modifiable games I have ever played. You can download all the Star Trek ships, but also Star Wars, Babylon 5, Stargate, etc and go fight in an all out 360 degree free space multiplayer battle royal.

Its one of the few games that actually are worth more with age. I saw one on ebay for 80 dollars. (it was 45 when I bought mine).
I personally couldn't get into the (ship combat) gameplay, however I love Klingon Academy, with 8 CDs worth of FMV it's pratically a prequel to the last (original) ST movie with 2 of the main cast in the game.

The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. Simply too good to retire it (especially with mods). Also Prince of Persia: Sands of time. Very good game.

Oh man I don't know. I play a lot of old stuff. I've been playing Donkey Kong Country and Kirby Superstar with my little brother recently.

Well occasionally my friends and I like to break out the old chess set and play a game or two, the origins of which can be found in 15th century Europe where it was a game intended to teach battle tactics and strategy among the nobility. But it's earliest form can traced as far back as 6th century India where-

Oh, I'm sorry, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg8-dii9Ma0] did you mean oldest "video" game you still play? Well, I think I still have an old copy of Zork 2 lying around here somewhere...

Combat for my Atari 2600. My Mates and I will have a beer and play the two player tank battles with the bouncing bullets. Still fun to this day.

I still play street fighter 2 almost every day. Specifically Super Turbo (1994), but I'm also trying to get good at Hyper Fighting.

Also, still playing through Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment too.

Zeus Master of Olympus. I havent been able to find a city builder that held my attention like that since, even if the combat didnt exist/is rubbish. The fact that I'm a sucker for ancient Greece probably doesnt help me finding one to top it to be honest...

Recently started Pokemon Blue again using an emulator on my phonem gotta catch them all dont ya know!
Man I love that game, I wish I still had the CD for it.

I still find myself going back to certain games every couple years. The oldest would be Zork, but I'm finding the gaps in my return have gone from "every couple years" to "every few years." Phantasie is kind of like that for me, too--mainly because I no longer have a version that seems to be able to save. After the announcement and my chip in with Kickstarter for Wasteland 2, I burned some hours in the original again.

From the console world, I still like to build up a party in Final Fantasy (the first) every year. I rarely finish it these days, but I still play it. When I want a Metroidvania style side-scroller, I pop in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (thanks to XBLA). And, with my PSP, I continue to play with different job class tactics in Final Fantasy Tactics.

Everything as far back as Asteroids. I find it harder to get tired of older games since they have a very arcade-like feel to them and harder difficulties that allows for extreme replay-ability. Modern games are much easier and the majority of them are so heavily scripted that speed runs become rather pointless.

Dr. Mario
Smash TV, NBA Jam, and Tecmo Super Bowl on the SNES

Graphics, story, game mechanics, and originality are all great, but these games prove that FUN is still the optimal word for gaming.

sid meier's alpha centauri and alien crossfire expansion, surprisingly it installs and runs straight off the disk on windows 7 , no patching or faffing around with compatibility mode or anything. They were both released in 1999 as I recall.
