Edwin from Bauldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Amn

Best damn RPG ever. EVER. What mystifies me is how BioWare can go from the glorious plot lines of SOA, and to a lesser extent TOB, to the paper thin, hold you by the hand, romping of Mass Effect 2 or even Dragon Age:Origins. Is it so wrong to want variety, entertaining side quests and a well written narrative?

Fie on you.

The 10th Doctor. Oh sorry we're talking about games...

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid - coolest character breathing hard behind a mask since Darth Vader.

John Marston. And I can't really put my finger on why. He's funny, cool as hell, badass, and just an all around likable character.

The Joker from Batman: The Animated Series voiced by the young Skywalker himself: Mark Hammil. The very definition of the joker with the look and especially the voice, I will never forget it.

btw it didn't say it had to be video game characters :p. However, just in case, the person I will never forgot out of video games (my top one that is) is Andrew Ryan.

If you do not agree, you either have no soul or you better have picked someone just as memorable.

Locke, and I suppose most of the rest of the cast of FF6. As it was more or less the first RPG I played where the characters had any sort of personality, let alone being well thought out. (Not to knock the original FF, Dragon Warrior, or Earthbound and co.)

Any of the characters from Tales of Symphonia. I loved all of them (except the ones you were supposed to hate).

However, if I had to pick just one, I'd pick Colette Brunel. Her character was perfect in every way. If any one thing had been different about her I don't think the game would have had the same impact on me as it did.

When I first started the game, not so much but when I finished it- John Marston in Red Dead Redemption is absolutely one of those essential game characters that I will never forget. Probably one of the most wholly realized Character in any game I've played. Right down to his demeanor, body language and that amazing voice actor they cast.

There are other characters, and a lot of other people probably played the game months ago, but I only recently played through this game and ended with one of the only gaming experiences where I actually cared about what happened to the main character.

Saren Arterius.

I've made several posts stating why I think he's awesome and why, in my own convoluted logic, why he makes Mass Effect as great as it is.

Carry on you racist, psychopathic, Turian bastard, carry on!

Honestly, when I think of Bioshock I think of my first betrayal.

I want to kill that prick Atlas.

Naoto Shirogane. She is made of win.
Agreed. Plus the back story is one of the more interesting and complex things to grace gaming in a while. I mean, its a shame its not as explored as Kanji was.

FBI special agent Francis York Morgan from "Deadly premonition". I just loved his character from the way he introduced himelf to strangers to his interesting quirks and the way he interacted with the other characters. I also loved his little talks he had about old 80's films which popped up nearly every time he drove a car long distances, or the topics he would talk about with other characters if they were in the car as well, and in various cutscenes.

It also helps that I really like the game as well.

When it comes to a TV show, I would say it is Detective Robert "Bobby" Goren from "Law & Order: Criminal intent" his quirks from how he cocked his head from side to side when he was interrogating people, his slightly stuttering speech and the way he downplayed his intelligence to fool suspects. In my opinion he has a great backstory which gives an insight into why he acts the way he does and his interactions with his partner, Detective Alexandra "Alex" Eames. All in all I think Vincent D'Onofrio helped bring a wonderful character to life. I can't wait for his return in the final season of "Law & Order: Criminal intent"
