I have an Xbox 360. i LOVE the xbox 360 and i see no reason to own a PS3 when all my other friends all own Xbox 360s as well.

However, there are just 2 games that make me want to shell out the extra cash for a PS3. Two games that, if i had the money, i would buy the shit out of a PS3 and just play those games.

Infamous (and Infamous 2) and Twisted Metal. Seriously, I would give the middle finger to my xbox on more than a few occassions just to have a PS3 for those games. i just have to focus my money on my savings so i can buy a house right now.

what about all of you? what would make you buy another console that before you just thought was shit? i'm not talking about shunning the other consoles, but what would make you buy more consoles if you could?

I wouldn't buy a console for games... but I am thinking of renting a PS3 for a few days with two games. I'm a PC gamer, but Heavy Rain and Shadow of the Colossus seem like something I shouldn't miss, especially as I'm into game design. I wanna play through them, mostly for the experience of it, to see how they're done, how they work, how they deliver the experience etc. There's also stuff like RDR and some others games, but those are more fun than 'academic' interest, so they're not too high on priority list (not enough for me to pay extra cash for them that is).

Pokemon, MarioKart, I'd buy any console to get my hands on either of those two!

No its not. System loyalty is to show companies which system design decisions are good and which ones are terrible.
Then why has the wii sold so well as it has? Also what is there that the xbox can do that the ps3 can't or vice versa (blu-ray not withstanding)?

OP: I really don't see a point in "console loyalty" I mean at this point only a very select few games are ever console specific and if a game you really want is on another console, I am pretty sure you can find the same sort of game on the system of your choice.

It can be both. I'd have a wii and PS3 if I had more disposable income. Of course, this is thinking that "Console loyalty" simply entails one's actual purchases, and not the side one takes in the console wars.

I'm a PC gamer. Completely.

One reason why I'd like to get PS3, a first console at the crisp age of 22, is because of NHL 11. EA stopped releasing the NHL - video game franchise on the PC after NHL 09.

Terrible design is subjective. I personally dont think the PS3 was a well thought out system for the type of market it was going into. Sony should just have re-made Ps2 with more hardware, not try to go punch for punch with Microsoft, who saw the PS2s success and beat sony at there own game with the 360.

As for the wii, I dont think its terribly designed. Id never own one, but it was created to tap a different market and it has worked. A lot of the wii customers dont own other consoles. Or its so cheap that they dont mind buying one.

Are you just trolling here? Come on, im not gonna judge you, i just want to know.
It was a simplified statement but yes, I hold it to be true.

Console wars and brand loyalty come from having to make an exclusive decision based upon personal finance. If you can afford a 360, a PS3, a wii and a gaming PC then exclusives and "Which one is best" is a moot topic as you can simply buy the games you want on the system you feel serves that game the best.

I just bought a 360 for Mass Effect, even though I've been pretty much a Sony fanboy for the past many many years. Though to be fair, I wouldn't have bought the 360 if I hadn't played Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 in the first place.

Also, back in the previous generation, I bought a GameCube just so I could play the Resident Evil remake. It's still the only game keeping me from getting rid of my GameCube.

I don't have console loyalty but I only ever buy 1 system each "round," in this case I have an Xbox360. Only game I wish Xbox360 had was MLB The Show since MLB 2k11 kinda sucks...

One game I would've been excited to see is FFXIII Versus but FF series is kinda dead to me.

I also PC game so with and Xbox and a PC, and pretty much a lack of exclusive titles means I get to play most games out there anyway.

Let me just start by saying theat first of all system loyalty is a completely relevant concept...those who can buy multi systems and dont show the industry who is creating the right ideas and games for the rest of the stupid people who just buy every game that follows a series or is talked about(call of duty and halo).that being said i have to be slightly hypocritical and say the games that would sell out my microsoft loyalty are the kingdom hearts series.

console loyalty is dumb.

by all means if there are no games/not enough games you like on a console to convince u to buy it then don't but there are good games on all the consoles, even the wii...probably

I have both PS3 and Xbox and over 100 games for each. There are good and bad games in my taste on both.

Sure if you can only afford one get the one with the most games or whatever that appeals to you. But to say you are loyal to a company that basically wants all your money, is like having loyalty to just that one dog that's biting your balls :p

I broke it at the start of this generation by buying a 360 over a Ps3, now after my 360 died twice and all of its games went multiplatform I'm back with the Ps3...and I have a Wii too.

I gotta say, never again. I regret buying an xbox so much now.
