Holy shit, the same thing happened to me recently. PS rules them all!!!1!1!

They need to start releasing PS1 classics on the PSN, pronto!

Man, just hearing that start up gave me a healthy injection of nostalgia
You are aware they've been doing that for years, aren't you?
Yes I am. An improvement of the selection would be welcome.

Personally I feel the PS1 was Sony's fluke system, that got its big break more on flashy advertising and upstaging the Sega Saturn more than anything else. There was a lot of shovelware made for it and it had a lackluster launch library, but hey, I'll give credit where it's due and things eventually got better. I did own a PS1 and an N64 both in their heydey and I feel more attached to the N64 than I did the Playstation. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark probably had something to do with that, but again, the PS1 was no slouch.

Nothing really compares to the runaway success that was the PS2 though.

yeah, comparing them to any game, most are horrible to look at but back in the day, they were top class.
Twisted Metal European Tour, i spent many hours on that blowing up the eiffel tower :) Rock on Mr Grimm
Realistically speaking, when you have a Twisted Metal game as one of the reasons the Ps was the greatest, and Jaffe is finally making another Twisted Metal game (except with better graphics, physics, and (probably) online play), how can you say the Playstation was better than the Ps3?
Because Twisted Metal 2 was better than Twisted Metal Black, which came out later on a "better" system. There is still the possibility that the still unconfirmed PS3 Twisted Metal might not be good, or as good as one of the older games.

I have the exact same sentiments towards the PS2. Don't get me wrong, the PS1 was awesome, but the PS2 improved on greatness. Now if only I could get it to make the old PS1 startup noise...[shudder]

The ps3 doesn't actually have that many console specific NEW releases.. I think the original PS was just better in taht respect
...
Correct me if i'm wrong, but do you honestly think that beeing exclusive to a single console makes a game better? How does have a negative effect on the game that x-box owners (and sometimes wii owners) can play the game as well?
Have you had some bad experriences with some bad PC -> console ports? or am I misunderstanding you totally
I think you're misunderstanding me. My point wasn't solely that due to it being console specific it was better, I was trying to wildly stab at the idea that there are next to no new imaginative ganmes brought out for current gen consoles. Theyre all re-makes, continuations, spin offs, or simply other games with different guns, characters and background colours. (dumbing it down immensely i know but i just wanna make my point clear.) The reference to console specific may have been a misplaced one but i used it only to enhance my point.

That game wasn't a specific reason, that was in a reply to manicfoot's post about a twisted metal game, and the fact that even if there is a new twisted metal game, iot supports my othe rpoints of simply continuing on the same titles.. It would be the same old game with buffed up graphics.

Yeah i can understand that, in the current economic climate it's understandable and acceptable that games ciompanies who are after all selling luxury goods want to stick to the tried and tested mehtod for the guaranteed sales with formulas that work. However, this repetition has been going for quite a while now, before most people even realised we wewre approaching an economic depression.

Your personal interest in games is, to be honest, of no interest to me or valid to my argument. My point still remains, as does the point that a lot of people thought FFVIII was a good game.

As much as I love my PS1 for me that feeling lies squarely with my old SEGA Megadrive. My happiest gaming times were had with that console. Awesome games plus having no repsonsibility in the world, thus being allowed the time to play those games whenever I wanted (bar school time) make that my personal fave.

Oh ok, that makes a lot more sense. Sorry for misunderstanding.

If i'm honest, i was never really a huge fan of the Megadrive. the SNES holds many fond memories also though, Kirby primarily springs to mind.

and i'm glad to clear that up, sorry for any misunderstanding due to the way i made my point :)

As a little side question to my last post, does anyoen remember / know what the Kirby SNES game was called which had a shed load of kirby games on it? It had a mini game of breakingthe world in half, a quick draw and 2 (3?) full length games all on one cartridge. I know for sure it wasnt kirby's dreamland though.

No, I move on when the next gen comes, but I may not cast my PS3 away quite so quickly.

QFT. Downloaded it from the PSN the otherday...still playing it through strong. MINT game. It's barely aged at all.
