Thats your example of perfect?

Also, unless your asian (which I doubt you are) no-one is going to consider it anime. Its just gonna turn out a fail like avatar did (the one with the bald kid, not the blue people)

Anything that resembles afro samurai in any way is perfect to me. Yes I know I'm a shameless fanboy.

How about a cute looking little 'thing', like they have in some animes.
A cute looking thing. Gee, I don't recall ever seeing one of those.

here is what you need to do. go to onemanga.com read 20th century boys, 21st century boys, monster, pluto, billy bat, and one piece. now find a way to mix all of those together to make the perfect anime. also get yoko kanno to compose the music.

People consider MegaTokyo Manga and that's not Asian.

Calumon: I want to go to Tokyo again. I used to live there with Takato.

Watch Death Note. Then stop trying because you will never be that awesome.

Sorry, I just reeeeeally like Death Note.

My tips: Do NOT make anyone mega-powerful above all else. I've seen too many fanfics and animes fail because someone was way more powerful then anyone else. No one wants a boring invincible hero.

Maturity is important. Serious topics are important to anything, otherwise people become disconnected and bored. Feel free to have comedic relief and even have it be mostly happy and light-hearted. But if there's nothing serious going on it becomes dull.

its kinda hard just to come up with ideas/ feedback on stuff i've never seen ( your stuff to be precise, I do watch anime) but just try to make it good, and listen to some of the advise given here, its really good. ( particularly the part of maturity thx 4 that "Cover you head") I would like it to be funny and yet have a story, and perhaps something from medieval ages ( aminly because I like that stuff) like sacred blacksmith for example. but please, give us more info on what you're thinking of making ,and then ask us for feedback.

don't be afraid to kill heroes (not talking about "redshirts"), show that they ARE mortal, and CAN die so that when it gets close, it's not a matter of what trick will the hero pull out of his tailpipe to win, but will they win and at what cost?
This I certainly agree with. This was one of the reasons why I got bored of One Piece.

But on topic; Get rid of things/avoid in an anime? A bit of a rant on my part too.

Take the "grand list of RPG game cliches" as a list of things to avoid if possible.

Avoid Mary Sues/ GAry Sues

Avoid Gratuitious boobies and butts, seriously.

Mechas, avoid all of them if they are expected to be central to the story.

Underage primary character with god-like powers and skills... when it doesnt make sense.

While characters need to be flawed to be interesting, stay away from dysfunctionnal emos. Especially when they are expected to save the world.

Ridiculous, unpratical hairstyles. YOu can characterize a charater with some other trait than anti-gravity hairs.

Avoid Idiocy/stupidity in all characters, they can make mistakes, but not obviously stupid ones.

super-power-that-take-ages-to-activate

Villains who gloat, and monologue.. and the hero stop and listen (and him and his allies trust every word for some pointless internal tension and mistrust when the true ennemy is right in font of them..) The hero and his allies should just shoot the bad guy and talk about it after the battle is over, or just shoot him and take his words as complete lies.

Allies who betray you for stupid reasons.

Stupid villians. No respect for them.

Stupid villians. Seriously, make them really smart and ressourcefull.

Bad guys who cant aim and cant use tactics. Make the average trained bad guys at least appear reasonably competent and alert.

Stupid villians with superpowers for an explosive finale. (IMHO; i prefer the conniving political masterminds that outsmart you at every turn, but isnt that great in that final fight, his trusted generals/warmasters are the ones who are good at battle)

Imcompetent NPCs (aka redshirts) that get killed in masses by the bad guy (just to show how EEEeeeevil he is) and cant get things done. Its not a crime to take the spotlight away from the hero from time to time.

The lone ninja rule; avoid when it makes sense.

Anciant artifacts and lost tech and whatever made by the ancients should (if it make sense) NOT be the best thing out there, maybe the current techniques are more refined so the old stuff is brittle, heavy, primitive (but valuable to collectors and museums) in comparison.

Did i mention to avoid stupid villians?
This is pretty much a list of things wrong with typical anime, I agree with it though.

Oh and I do dislike ridiculously oversized breasts, they just look unsexy in my opinion.

You need to be able to relate to the story and the main character easily, while a strong story should be supported by an array of comedy, tragedy and possibly action/drama scenes.

...

This is a really awkward mish mash, but I like: Clannad, NHK, Elfen Lied.

I want an Anime, where the main hero dies somewhere in the middle of his quest (without any resurrections or other bullshit), and the people who were gathered in his team decides to make and fulfill his goal anyway without him as an act of honor toward him.

I mean, call me crazy, but I like all of those 1000+ chapter huge stories about people who start from squat to be the greatest whatever in the world and they fight some great evil to get to their goal. I like watching heroes facing off another, stronger enemies, while developing their personality. What i don't like, is false tension created by 'oh noes! The main hero will in any second!' moments. No he won't. He's the main hero. He won't die, unless he's not the real hero, or at least it isn't the final fight at the top of the Volcano of Doom. And even if, he didn't die for real, because we can easily resurrect him with some fancy macguffin or some kind of Deus Ex Machina saving his life last minute.

Take One Piece for example (or Bleach, or Naruto or whatever you are watching). Luffy is an awesome hero, and I love the stuff he's doing, but whenever he fights some baddie, I don't feel any kind of tension. Even if he drowns, is pierced by a poison hook, (almost) freezes to death, sliced, whatever - I perfectly know he will survive it, because his crew, or some random NPC who still believes in him and doesn't want him to die will help him.

And now imagine a fight sometime before the final action (heavy spoiler, don't read if you are currently watching/reading OP)
with Magellan in Impel Down, or that lava bastard who killed Ace in recent chapters
, where Luffy would really die, and there are still much more pirates/marines on the way to his dream. He's dead for ever, and ever, and he won't be resurrected. Then the rest of Strawhat crew would mourn him, and decide to continue the story, defeat baddies, become the greatest pirate crew in the world, while still claiming the captain is Luffy.

That would be awesome. I would like to see that, but sadly, usually the creator is too scared of killing his main pro halfway through because of zombie fan backlash which leads to creating even more stupid situation, when the main character 'is not dead. He's resting'.

Damn, once again my wall-of-postish nature kicked in. Tl;dr version: don't be afraid to kill your main pro for real halfway through. It doesn't mean the story ends. In my opinion it might even help push it forward after stagnation, or help develop the other characters who usually took the backseat whenever it came to the 'real fight' with Big Bad.

once the anime isn't like the final fantasy series with the god awful voice acting and mediocre story, you should be fine.

Nice music and well paced animes don't rely on 300+ episodes to get to the point.

Most of the good animes i know are around 20-25 episodes, total.

Animes with 50+ episodes are just bad (inuyasha, dragonball, naruto ect), repetitive to death and almost never get things done, like the average TV-Soap my grandma watch.

I am currently working on a anime/manga project and would like to get some feedback. What would you as the viewer like to see in an anime for you to think its perfect, or near as possible.

For example: At the end the hero get really rich and famous, or has a really cool sword, etc

What archtypes and stereotypical elements would you keep, get rid of, what change is needed?
My favorite anime is Ghost in the shell (the 2 series)it isnt perfect but i love it.

I agree with alot of that, however only two things concern me.

Define Mary/Gary Sue, I know basically what they mean, but its been awhile since soemone explained the details.

Second as a future story it will have "mech" suits. However these arnt the 75ft tall variety around 10 feet tall and more built like a frame over the pilot. (Anyone ever seen Exo-Squad) It'll be done in a more realistic way.

The best kind of anime is the kind that takes risks. Maybe set up your main character as a typical invincible "the author would never kill him" kind of character, then kill him halfway through the series and shift the focus entirely onto someone else.

Avoid the Chibi affect... That always kills an anime for me. Aka the over exaggerated mouths and eyes when a character starts yelling and throws a tantrum or something... There was only one anime that I enjoyed that had that, but it was a comedy so it was expected... It kills a show when the show is supposed to be taken seriously for a good portion of the time.

Like when Mischa in Death Note started going Chibi I was thrown off because they didn't do anything of that sort for 5-10 episodes before that (forgot how many episodes were inbetween the first one and the first chibi reaction of Mischa.)

Also a thing I don't like is when they feel the need to have their characters shout out their attacks as they're doing it... It's something that's suitable for shows aimed at younger audiences but there are a few ones out there aimed at adults that do that, and it's not needed... The visuals alone let us know what they're doing, so why say it every single exact time they decide to perform it? If they mentioned it once or twice before hand in an earlier episode, we'd be able to remember what it was they were doing throughout..

Although a lot of this could be disregarded if you're aiming to do a comedy, or a show aimed for kids, or both, but I'm assuming the latter isn't the case considering you're asking the escapist what THEY like to see in an anime, and we're a wide range from teens to old farts ourselves.

-=No offense to farts or how old they might be. :p =-

Oh for sure. However after watching anime music videos on youtube, I would love in put some classic rock and roll in their, maybe even some metal and rap when appropiate. What kind of music would u like to see in a anime?

This ( http://www.hulu.com/le-chevalier-deon )is seriously the only anime that makes me not want to spoon my brains into a toilet. I am hardcore anti-anime, but more stuff like that would certainly grab my attention.

I guess that means I'm looking for stuff in interesting settings that aren't pandering to the anime stereotypes with a strong narrative and absolute lack of the bursty, tentacley, rapey, hypter-violent, giant hair, big glove tropes I usually associate with anime.
I absolutely loved that anime, the animation was beautiful and the characters were interesting.

I liked the animes Wolfs Rain, Spice and Wolf, Hime Mononoke (pattern no?) But I also liked Hellsing, and the Ragnarok Anime. Make the characters fight to become stronger, not like.. oh.. I bet you just because I'm smart. You can't have the brilliant guy be super strong or have some ace in the hole everytime a.k.a Naruto. Though also have a wonderful supporting cast.

also Morgan Freeman to do the intro.

I carry a Death Note messenger bag whos the bigger fanboy ~_^ lol j/k. Well i kinda had a way to counter the "Invincible hero" thing. He porposefully places limits on himself for two reasons, to be sporting to the bad guys and show respect for a honorable warrior, and two if he does go all out he could destroy the city (Tokyo circa 2101)

I want mine to be very mature not based much on any comedy but action and drama, although their will be some quips and stuff thrown in, people like to laugh when they seee something blow up.
